While rising to fame in her 20s, model Paulina Porizkova didn’t think much about caring for her skin. “I was a nightmare,” she tells PEOPLE. “I’m a product whore, so anything you gave me, I experimented with. I drank, I smoked, I’d tumble into bed with a full face of makeup on and go to work and say, ‘Look, I’m already done up.’ Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.”

But her recklessness caught up with her eventually. “When I saw the first signs of aging I was like, ‘Ahh,’” the 46-year-old recalls. “I pulled out every bottle there was. Two hundred bucks? Sure! Three hundred bucks? Sure. Disappointingly, none of them did much.”

Luckily, Porizkova eventually developed a streamlined routine thanks to Avon’s Anew. “I use that and a clarisonic brush, and it really works,” she says of the serum, which she’s a spokeswoman for. “That’s it. It’s made my skin more even and glowy — it makes your skin look like right after you exercise, when you’re all flushed and really pretty.”

In addition to Anew, Porizkova is sure to protect her skin with SPF. “Every day,” she insists, recalling the time she first learned about sunscreen. “I went to a party for Estée Lauder … they had some scientists there, and I said, ‘What’s the good stuff? What’s the stuff I really need to use?’”

Hoping to hear about the latest miracle cream, Porizkova was shocked by the answer. “Both of them looked at me and said, ‘Use SPF,’” she recalls. “And I’ve used it every day since. I feel like a vampire if I go out without it.” Tell us: What products do you use to keep your skin healthy?

Before starring in the 1993 cult classic, My Father the Hero, Katherine Heigl had another camera-ready vocation: unenthusiastic child model.

“Oh my god, it was brutal,” she tells Anderson Cooper on Wednesday’s episode of Anderson. “You even understand it, even when you’re 9, you’re like, ‘This is silly and lame’ and they’re like, ‘No, no, it’s adorable, do it,’” she says of posing for clients including Macy’s and Sears.

And though her modeling days are over, Heigl appreciates a girl with more than one look. “She had one signature move,” she gripes of another former child model. “I was like, ‘Let’s shake it up, please!’”

Another day, another hair change for Kim Kardashian. The reality star dyed her hair Sunday, posting a photo to Twitter on Monday.

“I dyed my hair lighter yesterday! I’m loving it,” the soon-to-be divorcée wrote. “New hair color=new beginnings for me. You like?”

Kardashian, who added clip-on bangs to her hair earlier this month, dyed her hair a similar shade of brown last summer. “I feel younger,” she wrote at the time. Her colorist, Rebecca Friedman, told PEOPLE that the look gave the star “more dimension,” too. While we love Kardashian’s hair color, we have to admit: it doesn’t look that different to us! “There are a lot of Chuck outfits that are up for discussion,” wardrobe designer Eric Daman (left) admits to PEOPLE. ”Some people like to take things a little too seriously,” he adds, laughing. “There isn’t one ugly stepchild out there.”

Perhaps Daman is biased; over the course of five years, he’s watched the gang graduate from a shoestring budget to show-stopping couture. Since season one, there’s been a “huge turnaround,” he explains. “The star power has definitely helped that. On the budget we have, there would be no way to do what we do.”

What Daman does do, in fact, is create characters through costumes. And he does so with conviction. When we first met Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), she was doing a “flirty, girly thing,” which evolved into a sartorial “coat of arms” in college, comprised of structured looks from Victoria Beckham and Narciso Rodriguez. But as GG‘s resident princess evolved, she “reverted to an old world glamour,” says Daman, evidence of which is apparent in tonight’s royal wedding episode (8 p.m. EST). We’ve seen a lot of Kim, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, but the stylish sisters are revealing even more of their curves in new ads for the Kardashian Kollection denim line for Sears. The girls are taking their tops off in a racy pictorial — presumably to put the focus on the jeans. (Yeah, right.)

The Kardashians shared plans for their denim collection in September, around the time their eponymous collection launched in Sears stores. “We have to get everything tailored, so in this collection, we wanted to make sure that you didn’t have to tailor anything,” Kim told PEOPLE at the time. “It was the exact way we like it — from the fabrics being very comfortable and stretchy to fitting all of our body types.”

The popularity of the line means lots of expansion in the months ahead; after denim launches in about four weeks, according to co-creator Bruno Schiavi, home will follow, with swim not far behind. “We are shooting our new swim campaign actually in January,” Schiavi tells Celebuzz. “We’re very excited about that.” And we can’t even imagine those photos … Tell us: Have you shopped the Kardashian Kollection for Sears?

Rose Byrne gave us a lot to look at during Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards: her gorgeous face, for one, but also her interesting white jumpsuit and face-framing bob. So we had to ask: What was the story behind her look?

“I tried this on a couple of years ago,” Byrne told PEOPLE of her glimmering Elie Saab jumpsuit. “I loved it for an event and it just didn’t end up being the one that I wore. But I always had it in my mind.”

Once she decided she wanted to wear pants to the SAGs, Byrne called up her stylist, Penny Lovell, who immediately knew which look to pull. “[She] was like, ‘How about that great jumpsuit we tried on from Elie Saab?’” Byrne recalled. “And I was like, ‘Oh that? Let’s go!’ So that was it. I love jumpsuits.”

Though Byrne’s bob was somewhat old news by comparison — she first cut it several months ago — the actress had the look freshened by John Frieda stylist Harry Josh before the awards (her makeup was by Joe Fresh Beauty). “Just yesterday, he did another cut and he did the back and then he did the bangs again,” she explained during the SAG Awards Gala at the Shrine Auditorium. “It’s Scarface-inspired. For those of you who watch the Super Bowl for the commercials (no shame — we do it too), feast your eyes on this: H&M’s sexy game day ad starring a nearly naked David Beckham. The soccer star strips down in the first television spot for his bodywear line, which hits H&M shelves on Feb. 2.

“My design team and I spent 18 months developing the collection, it’s been a fantastic collaborative experience, and I’m very happy with the end result,” Beckham said in a release. “Like every fan, I’m looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday.”

In addition to Sunday’s ad, H&M is in the process of hand painting a revealing Beckham billboard in New York’s Herald Square, and videotaping the project. Once it’s completed — sometime during Super Bowl weekend — the footage will be shared as a time-lapse video on youtube.com/hm. You’re welcome.

That dreaded love-it-or-hate-it day is coming up (dare we say it? We’re counting down the days until Jason Wu’s Target collection goes on sale — mark your calendar for Feb. 5! — but starlets Blake Lively, Chloë Moretz, Emmy Rossum and Jaime King were among the lucky few who go to shop a preview sale Thursday night at the Skylight Soho in New York.

Featuring feminine dresses, colorful skirts and must-have bags, the line is sure to sell out in a second. To that end, Wu said he didn’t design the collection for a specific type of shopper, but that every girl will likely appreciate the line. “We all want to be a little glamorous, a little playful and a little mischievous at times,” he told PEOPLE. “And I think that the collection really brings that out.”

He also intimated that his cats, Jinxy and Peaches, helped inspire the kitten pattern that defines several of the looks (a cat stars in the campaign, too). “Cats are so elegant and embody the spirit of the collection,” he shared. “My cats are really sassy and sophisticated, but most importantly, they are picky.”

While Moretz, Rossum and King showed up wearing head-to-toe Wu for Target, Lively chose to wear a Target collection black trench over her designer peplum mini-dress, also by Wu.

But it seemed the more demure styles suited Moretz, 14, who revealed to PEOPLE that her stylist isn’t the only one who weighs in on her fashion choices. “My mom definitely still helps me choose outfits,” she shared. “She has the final word on a look. If she says no, it’s a no.”

Lively admitted that despite her reputation for wearing designer duds, she loves to shop at department stores. “I’m a pretty good discount shopper,” she revealed to reporters. “[With] the last designer Target brand I was online when the site was crashing. I had three computers out!”

Still, she explained that she doesn’t really have a staple clothing item, high-end or otherwise. “I have so many clothes, there’s nothing I wear all the time,” she said sheepishly, adding, “which is a really good problem to have.” Tell us: Who do you think wore Wu’s new collection best?

She sometimes wears outfits too complex to understand, but Tilda Swinton’s role as a fashion icon is indisputable. So it’s surprising to hear that the most major tool in the actress’s arsenal of style is something, well, quite unconventional.

“For me, it’s just a matter of having a box cutter to open the [dress] box,” she told PEOPLE at New York’s Core Club Tuesday night during a screening of Here, a short film she co-wrote for the Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts. “I turn up in a pair of old corduroy trousers, and I’m very fortunate to have friends who send me boxes [with gowns],” she continued. “It’s like the Cinderella complex. It’s the friends that make the effort, not me.”

Swinton, who wore a sharp white Céline suit to Tuesday’s event, said that often, her couture outfits fit with minimal tailoring. “There is a little effort that goes into the planning, like, weeks ago,” she admitted, “but at this stage, it’s only a matter of opening the box.”

That will likely be the procedure Sunday night, when Swinton dresses up for the Screen Actors Guild awards (she’s nominated for best actress for We Need to Talk About Kevin). However, with her film out of the Oscar race, the actress doesn’t think she’ll attend the big awards on Feb. 26 — and is slightly relieved she won’t be looking for yet another outfit. “It would be a luxury problem,” she said, “but it’s a win-win situation, if you know what I mean.”

Regardless, Swinton’s friends and admirers (Anne Hathaway and Simon Doonan among them) always look forward to the star’s fashion moments. “It’s effortless,” model Agyness Deyn, who stars in Here, told PEOPLE. “She’s so talented … such an amazing person.” Tell us: Are you a fan of Swinton’s style?

At Thursday’s Swarovski Crystallized Unsigned Model Search Event in London, Helena Christensen (right) added intrigue to a patterned shift with striped, blue tights and a neon-green purse. Previous supporters of the unusual frocks include Charlize Theron, who selected a one-shouldered mini for the L.A. premiere of Young Adult, Gwyneth Paltrow, who celebrated Coach’s 70th anniversary in a one-sleeved version and Nicole Kidman, who sported a burgundy column at the Country Music Awards.

Paris Fashion Week may represent the finest handiwork in couture design, but Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest offering didn’t leave one bereaved father in stitches.

“The family was upset to see those pictures,” Mitch Winehouse told The Sun of Gaultier’s show, which commemorated the late singer. “We’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy’s death.

“It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life,” he continues. (The collection heavily references Winehouse’s disheveled aesthetic, reckless attitude and penchant for smoking.)

But Gaultier stands by his intentions: “She was an icon of fashion and truly, the sense of how she mixed the clothes — it was great,” he said after Wednesday’s show. “It is very joyous.”

And though Style.com diplomatically critiques the collection (perhaps neither to incense the veteran designer nor the late chanteuse), they too dubbed the presentation, and all it represented, “So sad.” Tell us: Do you find Jean Paul Gaultier’s presentation insensitive?

TAKE A LOOK BACK AT THE STAR’S AMAZING LIFE: ‘AMY WINEHOUSE: IN HAPPIER TIMES’

Hats off to Kate: the Duchess of Cambridge was just named “Hat Person of the Year” by The Headwear Association. Beating Rachel Zoe, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Charlie Sheen — and taking a whopping 91 percent of the vote — the Duchess was the obvious favorite of online fans.

The Headwear Association — an organization founded in 1908 that “promotes hat wearing and the headwear industry throughout the world” — highlighted some of Kate’s best hats, including the velvet cabernet hat she wore on Christmas (left) and the memorable maple leaf headpiece by Sylvia Fletcher at Lock and Co. that she selected for Canada Day in July (center).

Kate is the third star to win top honors from The Headwear Association; Johnny Depp nabbed last year’s title, following in the footsteps (er, headprint?) of the organization’s first-ever winner, Brad Pitt. Tell us: Are you a fan of Kate’s hats?
