It’s probably safe to say that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t bring just one rolling carry-on when she flew to Cannes. The Hunger Games star wore a total of four different outfits for her first day at this year’s French film festival.

Kicking things off in head-to-toe Christian Dior (no shocker there), the face of Miss Dior wore a crocheted, ruffled bustier along with black trousers and ultra-pointy bright pumps for the Catching Fire photo call.

She ditched Dior for more Dior at her next stop, selecting a black-and-white Christian Dior gown, plus stacked Jimmy Choo sandals. And despite the fact that thieves had allegedly taken off with an estimated million bucks worth of Chopard jewelry the day before, the brand was able to loan Lawrence a pair of emerald-and-diamond drop earrings, a diamond bracelet and one jaw-droppingly huge emerald-and-diamond cocktail ring for the Jimmy P premiere.

For the beach-side party at the Baoli Club celebrating her movie, Lawrence made a quick change into a strapless white Dior dress with a silhouette similar to her previous look. The design featured a pop of color via a printed bouquet at the hip, which she coordinated with a pair of the same bold heels from the photo call.

But Lawrence didn’t stick to that outfit for long. Once inside the party, she made her fashion finale with a sleeveless gray dress with a sheer panel at the legs, accessorized with a woven pink clutch and what appear to be the black peep-toes from Outfit #2.

After weeks of voting looks like this, this and this to the top of the Best Dressed list, you picked something that’s, well, a little snoozy.

We certainly won’t argue that Julianne Hough doesn’t look great. She looks darling. In fact, this may be in her five best looks ever.

But in a week that included outfits like this, this and this, we think you could have picked something a little bolder.

That being said, we can’t deny the simple elegance of her Calvin Klein Collection LWD, worn with clean, classic accessories by the line. And her hair and makeup were perfectly on-point. Okay, we concede, she looks terrific, but we can’t help thinking that one of the other ladies on the list could just as well have nabbed the top spot.

There were other notable appearances in the top 10 (we’re thinking Olivia Munn and Jennifer Lopez, both in perfectly fitted, ladylike sheaths) and one major absence: Kerry Washington, who’s been looking unbelievable on every red carpet lately.

So while we can’t nitpick the top spot this week, we can cross our fingers for a more surprising win the next.

In our weekly round-up of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we spotted chic onesies all over the place, a ton of strap-happy celebs in sandals — and a little too much ab action.

Up: Jumpsuits. Apparently normal pantsuits are just way too boring, because this trend is taking over Hollywood. Case in point: Jennifer Lopez nailing it in this black all-in-one getup with gold chain detailing around the collar. (If you want to try it, this one is on sale for $49 at Kohl’s!) The look manages to be classy but still packs an edgy punch which makes for the perfect trend formula. Plus, just this week Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Morrison and Maria Menounos proved onesies aren’t going anywhere. Our only question: What happens when you have to use the bathroom?

Up: Sexy two-strap sandals. Pedicure season is in full swing, and celebs have been letting their fresh paint jobs shine. The latest footwear craze – sandals with a strap around the front of the foot and one around the ankle like the pair Jamie Chung wears with her printed mini. And she’s not the only star to add some warm-weather spring to her step. Minka Kelly, Michelle Williams, and Victoria Justice prove these shoes are having a moment, convincing us to invest in a pair.

Down: Over-the-top ab baring. We are well aware of the adage, “If you got it, flaunt it,” but some looks should be saved for the beach…or the bedroom. We give Ali Larter major points in the gutsy category for stepping out in this revealing dress, but with all the slits (and that confusing neckline) we think stars should just stick to simpler cutouts like Anna Faris elegantly demonstrates.

My question is: “What happened?” You look like a mermaid who washed up on shore and her glittery scales are disappearing before our very eyes. What is left is a confusing cutout that looks like it’s been decorated with crystal gel window decals.

The dress cuts you off in all the wrong places, making you look short and choppy. Perhaps in a shimmery gold this would elongate your stature, but not in navy blue.

And what about the curtain trim at the bottom? That’s a trip and fall waiting to happen. Did they mean to leave that piece on?

Even with the melting mermaid dress gone awry, your makeup and hair are stunning. The bold eyes are balanced beautifully with the neutral cheeks and lips. Your hair is coiffed with just enough height and your jewels are gorg!

Until now, Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries has remained silent about the recent uproar surrounding his company‘s policies to exclude sizes larger than a 10 or L, as well his quotes from a 2006 article, in which he said (in part), “A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely.”

But after about a week of customer boycotts and negative internet buzz, Jeffries has finally posted a statement on the company’s Facebook page — though he stops short of an apology.

“While I believe this 7 year old, resurrected quote has been taken out of context, I sincerely regret that my choice of words was interpreted in a manner that has caused offense,” he writes, but adds that he stands by their original size policies. “A&F is an aspirational brand that, like most specialty apparel brands, targets its marketing at a particular segment of customers.”

Jeffries also says that that Abercrombie is “strongly committed to diversity and inclusion. We hire good people who share these values. We are completely opposed to any discrimination [or] bullying.”

A Change.org petition calling for the company to change its policy remains up, and the creator, 18-year-old Benjamin O’Keefe, says he is determined to keep the pressure on Jeffries to be more inclusionary.

Tell us: Do you think Jeffries’s statement is enough, or should the company have to do more?

Blake Lively‘s gone from sex bomb to domestic goddess, and that’s never been more apparent than in this video, the kickoff episode of “Elettra’s Goodness,” a web series inspired by Vogue starring model Elettra Wiedemann.

In the inaugural episode, Wiedemann and Lively indulge in one of their favorite activities, cooking, at the Bedford Post Inn near Lively’s Westchester, N.Y. home with husband Ryan Reynolds (fun fact: the inn is co-owned by Richard Gere and his wife).

Tell us: Do you agree, or are you into the tights?

Both Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett are known for their excellent acting skills, but they’re both about to take on very different roles: fragrance pitchwomen, according to WWD.

Mara has been named as the face of Calvin Klein’s new scent Downtown, which will include TV spots helmed by her Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher (plus ads shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, below).

“I am very excited to be included in the group of amazing women that have been featured in the iconic advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein fragrances,” Mara tells WWD of a sorority that includes Kate Moss, Christy Turlington and Diane Kruger. “It’s an honor to be part of a brand with such a legacy of breakthrough advertising.”

Also signing on to a perfume campaign is Cate Blanchett, for Armani fragrances. The actress is a longtime fan of the designer and attends many of his shows, so she seems to be a natural fit for his new fragrance Sí, which will be launched in late summer.

Tracy Anderson’s high-energy, calorie-torching march towards world domination continues. She’s following up her fitness/beauty multiplex with another new endeavor: a meal delivery service.

The Food Program by Tracy Anderson (which launched in L.A. in April but will go national on June 1) was developed by the celebrity trainer to complement her intense workout method, loved by Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian.

In fact, Anderson tells PEOPLE, Paltrow (herself a cookbook author) was “instrumental in helping create the program,” and loves the plan’s salmon with yogurt-mint dressing. But there’s a key difference between their approaches to food: “She’s in the kitchen to make things taste insanely amazing and I’m in the kitchen getting weight off of people.”

And she has a celeb fan who appreciates her approach: Jennifer Lopez. “She’s been on it now for about two weeks, and she loves it, she keeps ordering it,” Anderson says. “She’s not somebody who usually diets at all … [but] she needs the convenience. I’m so happy that somebody like that loves it because she has access to whatever food she wants.”

The plan isn’t cheap — it starts at $54.95 per day for a 14-day supply — but it is healthy, and Anderson promises results. “People are definitely going to lose weight,” she says. “They can lose stubborn weight on this and they can lose hundreds of pounds on this as well.”

Octavia Spencer’s awards season tour in 2012 didn’t just nab her an Oscar and a Golden Globe — it also was the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the actress and the designer.

So it’s no surprise that Spencer has stuck with Shoji for all her major events, up to and including the Cannes photocall and premiere of her film Fruitvale Station.

The actress had several lovely choices for her big red carpet moment, but in the end she went with this elegant “carmine red” gown, featuring draped tulle over brocade with sequin accents — plus coordinating red sandals. “We almost always collaborate on her custom pieces,” Shoji tells PEOPLE of the process, which included three fittings to get it just right. “Octavia has a great sense of style and knows what looks good on her body so it’s easy!”

He adds that they decided on the gown because “it’s appropriate for Cannes and something we haven’t done before. She [looks] stunning in a confection of lace and tulle. I am excited and honored to see my friend in my dress on the Cannes red carpet.”

And for her part, Spencer couldn’t be any more pleased with the finished result. “Tadashi is a magician — I feel completely transformed tonight,” she tells PEOPLE. “Each dress I wear of his feels like the first time all over again. This red number makes me feel sexy and confident.”

Cannes just keeps getting better and better, but with all the dresses, jewels and fabulous shoes parading by, it’s possible to miss some of the details. Here, we call out three things you’ve gotta see before the next round of gowns this evening.

Carey Mulligan’s Majorly Expensive Earrings: It’s no surprise to see mega-watt jewels on the red carpet at the French film festival (Chopard is an official partner, after all), but even with all that bling, it’s still possible to stop us in our tracks. Mulligan did just that at the Great Gatsby premiere, accenting her pale pink Dior Haute Couture gown with red lips — and a pair of Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings from the Blue Book Collection worth $1.15 million. Add another $112,000 in diamonds in her bracelet and we think she’s got a jewelry collection even Daisy Buchanan would envy.

Julianne Moore’s Tight Squeeze: From her beautiful hairstyle to her Chopard choker to her lovely Dior Haute Couture gown, we were finding Moore’s Gatsby premiere look delightful. Then we got to the silver platform sandals and noticed something was amiss. Stars tend to wear designer samples (which is why you’ll often see them with too-big or too-small heels) so the toe situation was out of Moore’s control, but our own feet (safely encased in flats today, thank you) ached in sympathy.

Eva Longoria‘s Unusual Traveling Ensemble: The star’s “just-off-the-jet” arrival outfit at Cannes was like a list of things we’d never consider wearing while traveling: White, sheer, delicate and paired with stilettos. Sure, she probably flew private, but still — we don’t know if we can get behind this. After all, no matter how much they cost, pants with a drawstring and elasticized bottoms are still sweatpants.

After reading Alba’s confession, I ordered the Almighty Cincher by AMIA (available for $54 on hourglassangel.com). The actress actually wore two girdles at once, but I figured I could build up to that. It sat on my desk at work for a week (quite the conversation starter!) then in my apartment for a few days.

I finally busted it out when my boyfriend left for a business trip. When the cat’s away, the mouse will … do unflattering (but highly effective) mud masks, watch bad TV and wear a corset.

I figured I’d just throw it on like Spanx, but it took me a good five minutes to get into my corset. It fastens with tons of tiny hook-and-eye closures and this thing is tight. Like, no-kind-of-shapewear-you’ve-ever-tried tight. I’d liken it to when you’re getting your blood pressure read and the nurse pumps it to the highest level just before releasing the pressure.

As soon as the last hook was in the last eye, the first thing I noticed was my posture. It forces you to stand up and sit really straight and it engages your abs while doing so.

Alba had commented that, “It was sweaty, but worth it” and when I first had the corset on, I smugly thought to myself, Alba must just be a bigger sweater than me because I’m totally dry under here. Not the case. You don’t realize how much you’re perspiring while wearing the girdle (is that the sexiest sentence ever written? I think so), but as soon as you unhook it, you’ll see. And really, you want to be sweating. That’s the idea: “[It] stimulates thermal activity and perspiration, mobilizing fat and toxins,” according to the description on hourglassangel.com.

I wore it for a few hours that first day, then on and off for nearly a week and I’ll definitely break it out again, though I can’t imagine ever sleeping in it.

The Verdict: I plan to use the AMIA corset as shapewear under dresses since it holds everything in way better than anything already in my arsenal. And I’d absolutely recommend it for anyone trying to improve her posture. As far as using it for weight loss, it’s gotta take a lot of commitment to see results (my jeans fit the same way they did at the beginning of the week), but if you’re as committed as Jessica Alba, I bet you’d notice a difference.

Now she merges the two in a new video for Topshop Festival, which comprises both a 16-piece collection inspired by Bosworth’s own personal style as well as a larger interactive component designed to introduce Topshop customers to new music (via surprise concerts, festival guides and more).

So how did Bosworth’s involvement with the Topshop design team come about? “[Kate] was here working with us on our Christmas project … and [we] were discussing the summer trends and how she had been one of our inspirations,” says creative director Kate Phelan in a statement. “The next day Kate came in with all these incredible images and references and shared what her ultimate festival outfits looked like.”

Adds Bosworth, “Our intent was to create fresh, wearable and effortless festival pieces. I am proud of our work together and I adore these pieces.”

If her last magazine cover didn’t have you convinced, this one certainly will: Emma Watson is officially all grown up.

Not that that’s ever been the ultimate goal, she shares in the June/July issue of W magazine — and we’ve got the exclusive first look.

“I’ve never wanted to grow up too fast. I wanted to wear a sports bra until I was 22!” she says. “The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me. I’ve never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman.”

But after years of playing schoolgirl Hermione Granger, Watson was ready for a change — so she cut her hair and took darker roles like that of Nicki, a celeb-burgling teen in the upcoming The Bling Ring. And she quickly went from plaid skirts to a very different kind of on-set wardrobe.

“Who wouldn’t love to go to work in Uggs and very low-slung tracksuit bottoms?” the star says of Nicki’s Paris Hilton-chic attire. “At one point I told the costumer designer, ‘You can see my bra strap in this top; shouldn’t we pin it?’ And she said, ‘No, sweetie — Nicki is all about her bra strap showing.’ I was like, Right, okay, different mind-set.”

Nicole Kidman may be serving on the Cannes jury, but a day and a half into the French film festival, we’ve already delivered our verdict on her style: She’s guilty of looking awesome.

In her first three looks at Cannes, she’s knocked it out of the sartorial park — and set a high bar for all other Cannes-going starlets to reach.

First up, for a juror cocktail party, she wore a head-to-toe Dior look that epitomizes what every girl hopes she looks like in her LBD — from the perfect fit of the sequin sheath to the sassy-yet-classy heels and clutch and the subtle sparkle of her Cathy Waterman hoops.

The next day, at a photocall for all the jurors, Kidman picked a deceptively simple Alexander McQueen dress that gave her dangerous curves (check out that neckline!), though she added some girlish touches with her raspberry Jimmy Choos and a ribbon tied into her low side ponytail.

And finally, for the evening’s Great Gatsby premiere, Kidman left her black dresses behind and chose a Dior Haute Couture confection exploding with flowers, to which she added pink Dior pumps and a bubblegum pout.

We may only be 36 hours into a weeklong event, but if Kidman keeps it up at this rate, we’ll be ready to crown her best dressed of 2013 and call it a day.

And after spotting her at the Robin Hood Foundation Gala in N.Y.C., we added hair and makeup envy to our list as well.

But while we can’t get her access to Naeem Khan and Oscar de la Renta dresses, we can copy her pitch-perfect hair and makeup look, thanks to tips from her pros.

First up, her hair, done by Benoit Moeyaert at N.Y.C.’s Marie Robinson salon. After combing Phyto mousse through her wet hair for texture, Moeyart blew her hair out with a round brush.

“While it was still warm, I rolled sections around two fingers (about an inch wide and an inch-and-a-half high) and pinned them with clips,” he tells PEOPLE. After letting her hair cool in those “pin curls,” he shook the hair out and brushed it all out, then curled it again by using a curling iron in alternating directions.

The finishing touches: “I added Phyto fiber paste, rubbed it with my finger to melt it a bit, then ran my fingers through my hair to make it more piece-y,” Moeyaert says. “It’s not beachy, but it’s not done either. In between — it’s naturally sexy.” To keep it looking great all night, he sprayed it with Elnett.

Next up, her makeup by Julie Harris, which Harris said was “glamorous,” to complement the dress. After prepping skin with Simple Skincare moisturizer and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk #5 foundation, she gave the actress a warm glow with Laura Mercier bronzer along the “high points” of the face and added Bobbi Brown coral cream blush.

But the highlight of the look for us: Williams’s stunning red lips, which matched her dress perfectly.
