Calvin Klein Remakes the Little White Dress From ‘Clueless’

Everett

When Ilaria Urbinati, the co-owner of L.A. boutique Confederacy met with Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa about stocking Calvin Klein Collection, the stylist-turned-shopkeeper had one very specific request: Remake the little white dress from Clueless! “I sort of geeked out on him, [explaining] how my formative-years love of Calvin Klein was partly based on the little white minidress Alicia Silverstone wears in Clueless,” Urbanati told InStyle.com. “I re-eanacted the entire scene with Cher and her father—’Cher, what are you wearing?’ ‘A dress!’ ‘Says who?’ ‘Calvin Klein!’–and of course I said, ‘Francisco, you need to remake that dress!’” And he didn’t need much convincing. After watching a clip of the famous scene, the designer had the original pattern unearthed from the archives in Italy and re-created exclusively for Urbinati’s boutique, reports Instyle.com. The slim-fitting white slipdress—as well as a hot red version—are already available at shopconfederacy.com for $915! Though we might be saving up for awhile, we’re sure one of Confederacy’s star customers, such as Jessica Alba or Ashley Greene, may just scoop one up soon enough. Tell us: Will you splurge on the infamous little white Clueless dress? Andrea DeSimone

FIRST LOOK: Katie Holmes Channels Jackie Kennedy in New Role

Todd G/Splash News Online

The baby bump Katie Holmes showed off on Monday was not in fact a sibling for Suri, but part of a costume for her role as Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy in the History Channel’s upcoming miniseries, The Kennedys. Coiffed in the famously chic first lady’s signature Camelot-era bouffant, the star was spotted on the Ontario, Canada set in a robin’s egg-blue shift, paired with pearls, a rhinestone circle pin–and a prosthetic belly–evoking Jackie’s classic polished look, even while in maternity clothes. Holmes, a trendsetter in her own right as well as a burgeoning designer, will no doubt feel right at home playing dress up as one of America’s seminal fashion plates. Gemma Arterton’s ‘Prince of Persia’ Beauty Transformation

Splash News Online

Never mind that actress Gemma Arterton has starred in three blockbusters — as the MI6 redhead Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace, Greek mythology’s Io in Clash of the Titans, and as Persian princess Tamina in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Despite her many roles, you still may not recognize her. But the truth is even the 24-year-old English rose admits that she can sometimes barely place her own face — and she’s happy about it. “One of the thrilling things for me is looking very different in films and not recognizing myself,” the newly married actress explained to PEOPLE of her chameleon-like looks. “My makeup artist always says that you can do many things with my face, which is really good when you’re an actress.” To get Persia-nized, she spent hours in the hair and makeup chair–an elaborate process, according to Arterton, whose hair was dyed jet black and lengthened with clip-in extensions. She also endured lengthy, meticulous henna tattoo applications and a head-to-toe fake tan achieved using a special face and body makeup by M.A.C. “The most tanned I’ve ever been in my life,” says the star of her Prince of Persia look. “When I watch the movie, I’m like ‘oh, God!’ Usually, I’m a very pale person.” To hear more about Gemma’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time transformation and the actress’s real-life beauty routine, be sure to pick up the current issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now.–Marissa Patlingrao Cooley; reporting by Jackie Fields

Patricia Field on ‘Sex and the City 2′ Style: “Hollywood Glamour Meets Aladdin”

New Line Cinema

Asking Sex and the City 2 wonder-stylist Patricia Field to choose her favorite look from the latest film seems to be akin to asking a mother to pick a favorite child. “They’re all so pretty, I really can’t,” she admitted to PEOPLE at Monday night’s world premiere at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. “I love the way everything looks in this movie.” And while she stayed true to the unique style of each of the characters, she did use the foursome’s trip to the Middle East as a chance to mix things up. “I changed as they got to the Middle East on this fabulous vacation and packed a little bit of clothes because they are guests of a Sheikh and living in a palace with butlers, and limos, and private planes,” she explains. “Lots of diaphanous chiffons, color, long, moving, very Hollywood glamour meets Aladdin!” As for the ladies who want a chance at Carrie Bradshaw’s enviable attire, the pro offers some words of style-wisdom: “Carrie is great, but Carrie is just an example of how you can have your own style. Think of who you are and what you want to look like and things that you like and don’t be afraid. Follow your heart, follow your art, don’t look around, and don’t worry about it.” Tutu, anyone? –Shruti Dhalwala
