January Jones Thinks Mad Men’s Betty Francis Dresses Like Jackie Kennedy

Mad Men‘s return Sunday night promises plot twists, dapper dudes — and plenty of fashion moments. And for star January Jones, who plays Betty Francis (formerly Draper), that means watching her character continue to develop — through fashion.

“She’s had a style evolution,” Jones tells PEOPLE. [Warning: Past season spoiler alert ahead.] “I think especially since she’s been married to Henry Francis and has become a politician’s wife, she’s made a change in her look.”

That change comes courtesy of costume designer Janie Bryant, who “made a decision to change her silhouette,” Jones explains. “Betty likes to play dress-up, so instead of molding herself after a Grace Kelly or a movie star, she’s wearing things that she thinks a Jackie Kennedy would wear. Instead of the petticoats and the big skirts, she’s wearing little suits.”

Mad Men’s Costume Designer on Banana Republic, Static Cling and Season Five

When asked if she can spill any details on season five of Mad Men (premiering March 25) Janie Bryant says with a smile, “Absolutely not!” The show’s costume designer is required to stay tight-lipped on plot details — but that doesn’t mean she can’t talk fashion.

Round two of the show’s clothing collaboration with Banana Republic hits stores Thursday, March 1, and includes bright, flattering dresses, retro ankle pants, sweet sweaters and shirts and slacks for men, too.

“It’s been really amazing,” she tells PEOPLE of the partnership. “It’s a perfect fit. Those classic, beautiful, ladylike shapes, perfect tailoring … The first collection did amazing, and this second one is going to do amazingly, too.”

Banana Republic Goes Mad for ‘Mad Men’ — Again!

Banana Republic: Mad Men Collection

Though Mad Men‘s fifth season doesn’t premiere until March 25, Banana Republic is offering fans a second capsule collection inspired by the hit drama.

Alongside the show’s costume designer Janie Bryant, the retailer has conceived 40 pieces of retro-style apparel and jewelry, which will be available online and in stores March 1.

“Spring delivers a whole new palette and gave us an excuse to draw from different scenes and wardrobe from the show as inspiration,” the brand’s creative director, Simon Kneen, says in a release. Evidence of which can be found in the newly released campaign images depicting a stoic, and undeniably chic, couple.

“We’ve given fans the tools to create their own looks, just like their favorite Mad Men characters,” adds Bryant. The collection will take you “from the office to country club and everywhere in between.”

We can’t wait to pair the line’s floral cardigan (pictured) with neon stovepipes and patent slingbacks! Tell us: How will you wear Banana Republic’s Mad Men-inspired collection?

Banana Republic’s ‘Mad Men’ Collection Hits Stores

The success of AMC’s Mad Men has given us lots of great things — Jon Hamm, anyone? — but our favorite contribution is the return of sexy ’60s style in all its figure-flattering glory, courtesy of the show’s Emmy-award winning costume designer Janie Bryant. Now she’s teamed up with Banana Republic to bring that signature look to fans, in prices ranging from $40 for their silk scarves to $250 for a classic leopard-print haircalf satchel.

In addition to three of our favorite looks (above), score a ladylike tweed jacket straight out of Betty Draper’s closet or a curve-hugging cowl-neck dress that would suit secretary Joan Holloway — and while you’re at it, give your beau a touch of Don Draper’s masculine style with Banana Republic’s Mad Men men’s collection.

Ready to shop the stylish ’60s? Head over to Banana Republic’s site to peruse the whole collection.

January Jones Bares All in New Versace Campaign

January Jones Gets 'Covered' By Versace

When January Jones kicked off her Betty Draper apron and stepped onto the Emmy red carpet in a stunning blue Versace gown this summer, we knew the Mad Men star had found her fashion match. And now, January is kicking off all of her clothes for Versace’s new spring/summer 2011 ad campaign, posing almost completely nude, covered in nothing but a well-positioned purse and other luxe accessories from the Italian label. “I am always on the lookout for the next Versace blonde…and in January I feel I have found a perfect Versace woman for the twenty-first century,” said Donatella Versace in a release. “She is chic and elegant but deeply sensual too–it is a dramatic combination.” The campaign, which was shot in London by Mario Testino– who recently photographed Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal engagement portraits–features January with makeup and flipped out hair in reference to the ’60s, an era–and look!–the actress is quite comfortable portraying. And with her Mad Men hit landing Golden Globe nominations, we can’t wait to see if a fully-clothed January will don Versace on the red carpet this awards season. Christina Hendricks on Her Emmy Dress: ‘I Was In Love With It’

Jason Merritt/Getty

Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks may have caused a flash bulb frenzy when she turned up on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards last night in her dusty lilac Zac Posen gown, but the stylish star claims she doesn’t usually put too much thought into finding the perfect dress. “I just go with my instinct,” she told PEOPLE at the Governor’s Ball on Sunday night, which she swung by before making an appearance at Entertainment Tonight‘s Emmy party. “I don’t even really think about the dress I wear.” But despite her laid-back approach to the red carpet, the actress and newly-named face of London Fog, did admit that it was love at first when it came to Posen’s feathered frock. “I saw it in his collection, and I was in love with it,” revealed the actress, who was up for supporting actress in Mad Men. “I’ve been wanting to wear this dress, this color, for a long time. It just reminded me of Old Hollywood.” And as for fitting into the sultry gown, which seemed to hug Hendricks in all the right places? “All they had to do was tweak the shoulders a little bit to make sure they were the right length, and it was a perfect!” Tell us: What do you think of Christina Hendricks’ Zac Posen gown? –Gillian Koenig; reporting by Reagan Alexander and Jessica Wedemeyer

What Did You Think of January Jones’ Emmys Gown: Love It or Hate It?

Frazer Harrison/Getty

From Lea Michele’s navy Oscar de la Renta gown to Jayma Mays’s dark sapphire Burberry dress, Hollywood was feeling blue on the red carpet at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards. And while Glee‘s gorgeous girls kept it dark, Mad Men‘s January Jones took the popular hue to a startling new height in a bright cobalt Atelier Versace gown. The glam dress was composed entirely of silk satin petals and boasted an asymmetrical hem and sweeping train. And on a night where it seemed the more bling the better, we loved how January kept everything from jewels to hair and makeup simple–letting her dress take center stage. While this Atelier Versace was certainly memorable, we can’t help but wonder if it was just a tad too much. Tell us: What do you think of January Jones’s gown? Do you love it or hate it?
