With 100 episodes — and an approximated 100,000 outfits! — there’s always been plenty of room for some Gossip Girl costume drama.

“There are a lot of Chuck outfits that are up for discussion,” wardrobe designer Eric Daman (left) admits to PEOPLE. ”Some people like to take things a little too seriously,” he adds, laughing. “There isn’t one ugly stepchild out there.”

Perhaps Daman is biased; over the course of five years, he’s watched the gang graduate from a shoestring budget to show-stopping couture. Since season one, there’s been a “huge turnaround,” he explains. “The star power has definitely helped that. On the budget we have, there would be no way to do what we do.”

What Daman does do, in fact, is create characters through costumes. And he does so with conviction. When we first met Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), she was doing a “flirty, girly thing,” which evolved into a sartorial “coat of arms” in college, comprised of structured looks from Victoria Beckham and Narciso Rodriguez. But as GG‘s resident princess evolved, she “reverted to an old world glamour,” says Daman, evidence of which is apparent in tonight’s royal wedding episode (8 p.m. EST). Look for embellished tops, bottoms, novelty sweaters, draped chiffon dresses and more that bear a strikingly stylish resemblance to outfits worn by Blake Lively and Leighton Meester‘s characters Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf. But what good is a leather-trimmed skirt without the extras? Never fear: the line’s designers plan to expand to handbags and accessories for spring.

Imagine having racks stocked with Moschino, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Chanel all at your fingertips, with the shoes, coats and bags to match. Such is the daily dreamland of Gossip Girl‘s new Upper East Side diva Raina Thorpe, a.k.a. actress Tika Sumpter, the latest star soaking up the on-set fashion fare. “The Gossip Girl wardrobe opened my world,” Sumpter tells Vogue Italia. “Pre-Gossp Girl, I dressed for comfort. It was kind of boho chic.” Now the former One Life to Live star says she’s picking up tips and tricks, especially when it comes to accessorizing. “Something as simple as a shoe or belt can lift your whole wardrobe,” she shares. “Learning about so many designers has been really exciting.” She’s also started to master the balance of pairing pricey items with the not-so-wallet-bending ones. “I’ve learned that everything doesn’t have to be high-end,” she says, though admitting, “I recently bought these Balenciaga trousers. A-listers stepped out in their fashionable best for the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards in L.A. last night, with Gossip Girl‘s Katie Cassidy leading the pack. Dressed in a sexy black Edition by Georges Chakra gown, the TV vixen first caught our attention back in September when we named her an up and coming style star–and apparently, we’re not the only ones who think so! The actress picked up the women’s Style Icon to Watch award. Other fashion fixtures like Kate Bosworth, who wore a minimalist maxidress, and a Kimberly-Ovitz-clad Camilla Belle held their own–and revealed some of the stylish items at the top of their holiday wish lists. “Chloe. I’ve always loved Chloe,” Belle told PEOPLE of her pick, “so whenever they have a collection I’ll go. Gossip Girl‘s resident Queen Bee Leighton Meester has teamed with another Upper East Side fashion fixture: designer Vera Wang. The stylish star has signed as the latest face for the famed designer’s next fragrance, scheduled to hit department stores this summer. “I am so thrilled to have Leighton as the face of our new fragrance,” Wang said in a release. “Her beauty, talent, and spirit will inspire all the young women that I hope will enjoy this passionate, young fragrance.” And while Leighton was recently named global ambassador for hair care brand Herbal Essences, this new partnership marks her first foray into fragrance. Ads will be shot by famed photographer Carter Smith in New York this weekend and are slated to hit the pages of your favorite magazines next summer. And while further details on the fragrance have yet to be revealed, we’re certain that a Vera-and-Leighton combination will make a oh-so-chic spritz. Looks like Queen Bees Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen will face some fierce competition for fashionable reign of the Upper East Side on tonight’s episode of Gossip Girl, when stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe makes a major cameo! “I have been a huge fan of Gossip Girl since the beginning and watch it every Monday with my girls,” Rachel told InStyle.com. “So it was beyond exciting to do an episode of the show and meet all of the brilliant people both behind and on camera. And obviously my favorite part of the experience was the costumes–so major!” Dressed in a floor length Pucci gown with Alexis Bittar jewelry, the fashion darling will get down and dirty at Blair’s 20th birthday party on tonight’s episode. Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen might get the most attention for their over-the-top style on the hit show Gossip Girl, but resident hipster Vanessa Abrams is no shrinking violet either when it comes to fashion. It turns out, however, that Jessica Szohr doesn’t share her character’s eclectic taste. “At heart I’m just a simple jeans and T-shirt kind of girl,” Jessica tells ASOS. “I used to not wear heels at all, but the last four years have changed that. I’m big on comfort now but I will sacrifice it once in a while for a good shoe.” And although her own style is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Vanessa’s love of color, pattern and over-the-top accessories, “since I’ve been playing her I’ve taken more risk in what I wear.” Jessica is even putting her own unique spin on fragrance. “I spray perfume on the back of my neck. When Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman was approached to create a line for budget-friendly chain Charlotte Russe, deciding what he would design was a no-brainer.  ”It just seems so apropos to what I do on the show,” he told PEOPLE of his collection of party dresses. “It’s like a ball or a gala every episode. I didn’t want to do separates. Serena van der Woodsen T-shirts? You can buy that. I wanted to do something special.” Even the Blair Waldorfs of the world will be tempted by Daman’s dresses, with prices starting at only $34.50. Expect lots of full skirts made for twirling with glittering accents galore. And while he loves designing high-fashion at low prices, he has to admit, dressing on an unlimited budget is a treat. Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, who recently expressed interest in starting her own clothing line, already has one customer waiting in the wings: New costar Katie Cassidy! “I’d buy it,” the actress told PEOPLE at W magazine’s September issue celebration at N.Y.C.’s Saks Fifth Avenue on Tuesday. “She has really good taste. I think she‘d be a great designer.” In the meantime, Cassidy will continue to admire her castmate’s killer wardrobe, telling PEOPLE, “I’ve seen her closet. It’s pretty amazing! Take it from Blake Lively — when in Paris, work hard and play hard! While shooting the opening episodes of the fourth season of Gossip Girl, she took time out of her busy schedule to cruise the City of Lights on a scooter with a very handsome gentleman — shoe designer-to-the-stars Christian Louboutin! Blake experienced love-at-first-sight with one of Christian’s creations while touring the designer’s atelier — who wouldn’t? — and the designer returned the love by naming it after the blonde beauty! “I want to sleep with it under my pillow every night,” Blake gushed over the shoe. Whether she’s on or off the Gossip Girl set, actress Blake Lively rarely gets it wrong when it comes to her fashion choices. Which is why it’s particularly refreshing to hear that the California native has shunned the services of a stylist to take charge of her own look. “I’ve always loved fashion,’ she tells the UK edition of Marie Claire in its October issue, on which she graces the cover. “That’s why I don’t use a stylist. Number one, it’s such an expression of self,” she states with a confident air, before amusing the set with stories of her recent trip to Paris where she got to meet one of her own fashion idols, Karl Lagerfeld.  After chatting with Anna Wintour about her love of all things Chanel, she soon found herself bagging a front row seat at the fashion house’s Paris haute couture show in July and some one-on-one time with the designer himself. “So I went to dinner with Karl Lagerfeld and we got to spend a lot of priceless time together,” she gushes, excitedly. And the highlight? “Oh my gosh, riding around in Karl Lagerfeld’s Rolls-Royce with the top down. For Taylor Momsen, art imitates life. Just as her Gossip Girl character, Jenny Humphrey, takes pleasure in shaking things up on Manhattan’s prim-and-proper Upper East Side, so too does the actress seem to enjoy pushing the boundaries in real life. In a recent interview with Spin magazine, Momsen classified her personal style as “high-class hooker” and frowned upon anyone opposed to her black eyes and leggy looks. “I dress for myself,” she told Spin. “Clearly, it’s provocative, but it makes me feel good. And if the only reason it makes someone uncomfortable is because I’m 16, then that person’s a scumbag because it shouldn’t matter.” But the Material Girl muse and lead singer of rock band, the Pretty Reckless, is irritated—to say the least—that pop stars are passing as rock stars these days. “People think pop is rock, and the lines are getting blurred. So who knew that such disparate fashion plates could find common ground in a light pink blazer? We spotted Rihanna in her take on the look yesterday, pairing her boyfriend blazer with frayed denim cut-offs and a sheer striped shirt. No such downtown touches for the ultimate uptown peacock Bass, as he strutted onto the Gossip Girl set in Manhattan this morning in his salmon sport coat paired with crisp navy trousers.
