Calvin Klein Remakes the Little White Dress From ‘Clueless’

Everett

When Ilaria Urbinati, the co-owner of L.A. boutique Confederacy met with Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa about stocking Calvin Klein Collection, the stylist-turned-shopkeeper had one very specific request: Remake the little white dress from Clueless! “I sort of geeked out on him, [explaining] how my formative-years love of Calvin Klein was partly based on the little white minidress Alicia Silverstone wears in Clueless,” Urbanati told InStyle.com. “I re-eanacted the entire scene with Cher and her father—’Cher, what are you wearing?’ ‘A dress!’ ‘Says who?’ ‘Calvin Klein!’–and of course I said, ‘Francisco, you need to remake that dress!’” And he didn’t need much convincing. After watching a clip of the famous scene, the designer had the original pattern unearthed from the archives in Italy and re-created exclusively for Urbinati’s boutique, reports Instyle.com. The slim-fitting white slipdress—as well as a hot red version—are already available at shopconfederacy.com for $915! Though we might be saving up for awhile, we’re sure one of Confederacy’s star customers, such as Jessica Alba or Ashley Greene, may just scoop one up soon enough. Tell us: Will you splurge on the infamous little white Clueless dress? Andrea DeSimone

WATCH: Marc Jacobs and Famous Pals Celebrate Louis Vuitton’s New London Store

Fashion plates like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kirsten Dunst and Alexa Chung were all on hand in London last night to help designer Marc Jacobs celebrate Louis Vuitton’s new Bond Street store, proving that a little taste of over-the-top of luxury is the perfect antidote to the buzz-killing effects of the recession. “It’s probably one of the most magnificent retail stores in the world,” said Jacobs, the brand’s creative director, of the sprawling, three-story Maison designed by architect Peter Marino, which showcases works by art-world luminaries including Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince as well as retrospectives of vintage LV designs. “It’s a monument to luxury and visual stimulation,” he said. Model Elle Macpherson–who, alongside fellow fashionable guests, was treated to an after-party performance by ’70s singer Donna Summer–heartily agreed. “I haven’t seen anything like this in a very long time,” she said. “It sort of reminds me of the ’90s when we all had a lot of money to spend.” The Louis Vuitton New Bond Street Maison opens to the public on Friday, or if you can’t make it to London any time soon, visit louisvuitton.com. –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

It’s All About Bags and Shoes for Halle, Gwen, Kate and More Celebrating Tod’s

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic

Hollywood’s leading ladies including Halle Berry, Gwen Stefani, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Alba arrived in style at the grand opening of Tod’s new boutique in Beverly Hills. “Who doesn’t love a bag and shoes?!,’” Beckinsale exclaimed to PEOPLE, “That’s kind of the beginning of everything.” Stefani (gorgeous in Vivienne Westwood) chatted with BFF, Beckinsale and husband Gavin Rossdale in the store’s third-floor showroom, which was transformed into a lounge reminiscent of a 1940s supper club. A dapper-looking Pierce Brosnan, who came with wife, Keely, shared a laugh with Berry, his Die Another Day Bond girl while Kate Bosworth mingled with pals and browsed Tod’s newest collection. Also enjoying a night out was a glowing Jessica Capshaw, who received congratulations on her pregnancy from guests throughout the night. A classic brand, Tod’s received raves for their timeless accessories. Anjelica Huston said of the shoes, “I love Tod’s because they are easy and comfortable and you can even put on a 6-in. heel like I probably have on tonight and still be comfortable.” Camille Belle added, “I have a bag [which is] the most beautiful plum color that I love and I’ve had for a really long time.” However, the evening wasn’t all about the ladies. Neil Patrick Harris and boyfriend David Burtka sipped white wine on the terrace while James Marsden enjoyed a date night with his wife. Of his fashion sense Marsden said, “I‘m sort of into classic. I get scared when things get a little too forward thinking and innovative.”–Michelle Ward

Arriving with Selma Blair on one arm and Claire Danes on the other, designer Zac Posen was ready to kick off the 24 hour shopping party in midtown Manhattan celebrating his collaboration with Target. From Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mena Suvari, and Michelle Trachtenberg to reality stars Kelly Bensimon and Olivia Palermo, fashionable New Yorkers got the chance to shop the collection before it hits Target stores and Target.com on April 25. “This has been my goal since the beginning of my company, which was to create a brand that worked on a diversity of women’s body types and diversity of races,” he enthused.  “To affect real women’s lives [is] really just a visceral thing about women looking beautiful, feeling good, having an adventure, and being creative themselves.”  Pal Blair certainly thinks that Posen has achieved his goal.  “I feel so lucky that I know Zac and get to have it because this line would be sold out in an hour,” Selma told PEOPLE. “I mean, it’s amazing, I would wear all of it. I don’t view it as a lesser line.  I just view it as a more accessible line.”  The collection, which Posen says is inspired by “the best summer of a girl’s life,” features everything from casual, bright tops to a sleek suit combo, pleated skirts, and even iconic Posen brocade–-available as both a skirt and a dress. “His sensibility is young, it’s modern, it’s playful, it’s very New York,” said actress Ginnifer Goodwin. As for advice to dressing on a budget, Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field offered some wisdom: “Style doesn’t cost money–it just takes a little thought.”  Luckily, looks like Zac has done the thinking for us. Zac Posen for Target is available at Target stores nationwide and target.com on April 25. –Shruti Dhalwala
