Keri Russell and Friends Design Aprons for Charity

Co-stars Keri Russell and Cheryl Hines rounded up some of their celebrity friends, like Scarlett Johansson, Amy Smart and Tori Spelling, to support The Adrienne Shelly Foundation by decorating aprons in honor of their new film Waitress. The May 3rd released bittersweet comedy written, directed and starred Adrienne Shelly, who was murdered November 1, 2006- before she could see the amazing reviews her debut film received. The Adrienne Shelly Foundation was set up to help young women pursue their filmmaking dreams, and to assist others in making the same leap from acting to writing and directing as Adrienne had done so successfully. Bid on the unique aprons designed by her friends, co-stars and supporters at charityfolks.com now until May 21st. To learn more about the Adrienne Shelly Foundation visit adrienneshellyfoundation.org.

Book Club: Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style

When we heard our favorite fashion guru, Tim Gunn, had written his first book, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on a copy. Hitting stands today, May 1st, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style is told in the same witty and reassuring voice Tim has become so noted for on Project Runway. With his partner-in-style Kate Maloney, Assistant Chair of Fashion Design at Parsons, they discuss every aspect of creating and maintaining an individual look. Some of our favorite topics include: how to navigate all types of shops, diagnosing the common closet, finding a style mentor and dressing for everyday occasions. One of the best parts of the book is when Tim denounces the “it” bag calling today’s accessories “too big, too shiny.” Then he goes on to say, “Why not carry a plastic bag from the supermarket and simply tape your credit card statement to it? It saves wear and tear on the items but still gets the message across!” Lines like that have us eagerly awaiting the next season of Project Runway not to mention, Tim’s new Bravo makeover show (based on this book). ‘Til then, we’re happy to have his wisdom handy in book form! Get your copy, $18, amazon.com.

Beauty Obsession: Boots

Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Corinne Bailey Rae aren’t the only British imports we’re excited about this year. Boots, the premiere U.K. health and beauty retailer, has finally made all its affordable and all-natural brands—there’s five in all—available stateside at both Target and CVS. And, we couldn’t be happier that we don’t have to wait ’til we travel to London to purchase some of our fave products, including the No. 7 Stay Perfect Lip Lacquer in tea rose, $11, which really does last. Or the Botanics Skin Conditioning Body Scrub, $12, that makes our skin feel sooo smooth. We also highly recommend the No. 7 Restore & Renew serum, $20, an anti-wrinkle cream that actually measures up to all those expensive prescription versions. After it was featured and proven to work on the BBC2 science series, Horizon, the serum sold out in 24 hours in the U.K. We’re not the only ones loving of all things Boots. The company has loads of celebs fans including Kate Winslet, Madonna, Heidi Klum, Mischa Barton, and Demi Moore. Get your own Boots products on Target.com or cvs.com.
