So that’s what’s happened to all our lost socks! On Friday night at New York Fashion Week, Toni Braxton helped unveil a custom dress made entirely of socks, designed by Project Runway All Stars’ Michael Costello. The gown is the centerpiece of the “SheKnows Where the Other Sock Went” campaign, an initiative from SheKnows.com to raise money for charity.

“When SheKnows called me … I was all over it,” Costello says. “I love a challenge, and I just thought it was something that could be totally cool.”

Using more than 700 single socks, Costello created a one-shoulder gown for Braxton, which she debuted at Friday night’s bash and wears in an advertising campaign, shot by noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker. The dress will go up for auction this spring, with proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks, the world’s largest autism and science advocacy organization. It’s also a cause close to Braxton’s heart: the singer’s youngest son was diagnosed in 2003 and she serves as a spokeswoman for the group. We’re big fans of Shopbop.com — and we know lots of celebrities are, too. So when Shopbop buyer Jane Albiter spoke to PEOPLE StyleWatch about her favorite of-the-moment looks, well, we were excited to see what she’d picked out.

For the spring season, Albiter is loving floral dresses, like this silk-twill style by Cynthia Rowley (right, $495, available on Shopbop.com March 1). “[It's] fresh and modern with simple flats or wedges,” she tells the magazine. “Plus, the cinched waist flatters everyone.”

Other favorites include a 10 Crosby by Derek Lam silk-wool gauze skirt (bottom left, $325, coming soon to Shopbop.com) — “Pair [it] with a solid tee or a striped top,” she recommends — and the “Freesia” polyester tie-neck blouse (top left, $118) by Patterson J. Kincaid. “Bold colors are superversatile,” Albiter says. “Just pile on the accessories to take it from day to night.”

There’s no limit to the number of charities celebrities seem to support, but at the moment, many are taking a stand for OrphanAid Africa, a charity championed by Rachel Roy. The designer recently created a handbag — the Rachel Roy OrphanAid Ghana clutch — designed to raise awareness about the non-profit and honor the West African nation at the same time.

“Clutches are one of my favorite shapes of handbags to carry, and when I work on product to sell for charities I want to create something that is refined, effortless and beautiful to look at … like the children that inspired the effort,” she explains to PEOPLE.

The colors in the bag — which retails for $49 — are taken from the country’s flag and washed “for a softer effect,” Roy explains. “The fabric is natural and raw; love the balance of the two.”

Hilary Swank (above) and AnnaLynne McCord have both been spotted carrying the clutch in recent weeks, with many stars sure to follow suit. Doo.Ri’s designs for Macy’s haven’t hit stores yet (mark your calendar: Feb. 15!) but the store is already looking forward to its next big collaboration, this one with Alberta Ferretti. The Italian designer’s collection of dresses, pants, blouses and knitwear will hit Macy’s stores and macys.com on April 17.

“The collection I created is fresh and bright, featuring light summer clothing that evokes the spirit of my beautiful country and is at the same time true to my style,” Ferretti said in a statement. “Macy’s numerous prestigious locations, as well as its important online presence, have been a unique and exciting opportunity for me to gift my ‘Italian Dream’ to a vast and diverse audience.”

Ferretti’s collection for Macy’s includes looks “from bohemian styling to garden party fashions,” according to a release, and offers oranges, pinks, teals, teans and whites perfect for summer. The maxi dresses, boho blouses and prints will run from about $49-$119.

The designer is a favorite of stars like Amanda Seyfried and Eva Longoria, and recently cast Solange Knowles in her runway show. But her biggest celebrity fan is likely Emma Watson, who designed an eco-friendly capsule collection with her last year. “The young are the future,” Ferretti told PEOPLE at the time, “and I am always inspired by new ideas.” Tell us: Will you shop Alberta Ferretti for Macy’s?

SHOP STAR LOOKS FOR LESS!

We’re counting down the days until Jason Wu’s Target collection goes on sale — mark your calendar for Feb. 5! — but starlets Blake Lively, Chloë Moretz, Emmy Rossum and Jaime King were among the lucky few who go to shop a preview sale Thursday night at the Skylight Soho in New York.

Featuring feminine dresses, colorful skirts and must-have bags, the line is sure to sell out in a second. To that end, Wu said he didn’t design the collection for a specific type of shopper, but that every girl will likely appreciate the line. “We all want to be a little glamorous, a little playful and a little mischievous at times,” he told PEOPLE. “And I think that the collection really brings that out.”

He also intimated that his cats, Jinxy and Peaches, helped inspire the kitten pattern that defines several of the looks (a cat stars in the campaign, too). “Cats are so elegant and embody the spirit of the collection,” he shared. “My cats are really sassy and sophisticated, but most importantly, they are picky.”

While Moretz, Rossum and King showed up wearing head-to-toe Wu for Target, Lively chose to wear a Target collection black trench over her designer peplum mini-dress, also by Wu.

But it seemed the more demure styles suited Moretz, 14, who revealed to PEOPLE that her stylist isn’t the only one who weighs in on her fashion choices. “My mom definitely still helps me choose outfits,” she shared. “She has the final word on a look. If she says no, it’s a no.”

Lively admitted that despite her reputation for wearing designer duds, she loves to shop at department stores. “I’m a pretty good discount shopper,” she revealed to reporters. “[With] the last designer Target brand I was online when the site was crashing. I had three computers out!”

Still, she explained that she doesn’t really have a staple clothing item, high-end or otherwise. “I have so many clothes, there’s nothing I wear all the time,” she said sheepishly, adding, “which is a really good problem to have.” Tell us: Who do you think wore Wu’s new collection best?

Her reign as an indie darling continues, but Elizabeth Olsen is a reluctant fashion plate.

“I’m actually not very good with all this designer stuff,” the 22-year-old tells Refinery29. “I just know basic ones.”

For a newcomer, however, her learning curve is rather impressive. Along with Marni and Céline, she swears by edgier labels including Isabel Marant and Carven. “I wore an orange floral Proenza Schouler dress that I was like obsessed with to the W magazine pre-Golden Globes party,” she gushes of a recent standout look (left).

And though she’s Mary-Kate and Ashley’s little sister, don’t credit The Row designers with Elizabeth’s ingénue style. ”I don’t live with them, and they don’t dress me,” she says. “Like, I’m an adult, ha!”

But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t shopped her sisters’ closets before. “I used to do it a lot more, but I’ve overgrown them by a lot,” she admits. “I overgrew them in high school, and then all of my friends started getting their hand-me-downs.”

Though Vanessa Hudgens is consistently glam on the red carpet, even her favorite looks get relegated to the back of the closet.

“I go to a bunch of events,” she tells PEOPLE. “Normally when I wear a dress, I only wear it once.”

Taking advantage of this stylish surplus, the actress is auctioning off the one-of-kind Candie’s Couture gown she wore to last year’s MTV Movie Awards (left), with all proceeds benefiting Stand Up 2 Cancer.

“I’m just trying to raise awareness,” she says of the endeavor, which starts Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. EST/ 4 p.m. PST. “It’s exciting.”

Other things she’s excited about include her new website, VanessaHudgensOfficial, where she blogs about film and music — and posts personal photos, thanks to the iPhone app Instagram. “It’s slightly addicting,” she says, laughing. “You can take a picture of a cup and it will look incredible.”

When it comes to looking good on days off, she relies on a fail-proof ensemble: “A funky long dress with a bunch of bracelets and a bunch of necklaces and a cool floppy hat.”

And while she and pal Ashley Tisdale often buy the same things — “It’s always been like that,” she shares — Hudgens relies on personal flair to avoid identical outfits. ”It’s all about accessorizing,” she says. “As long as you accessorize, you can make anything yours.”

Following in the footsteps of Ashley Greene, Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice is channeling her charitable side as the spokesperson for the 2012 Donate My Dress campaign. Designed to help less fortunate teens get special occasion dresses for their proms, Sweet 16 parties and Quinceañeras, the campaign encourages girls to donate gently used dresses to their local chapters.

“I’m really excited to be a part of the Donate My Dress organization,” Justice said in a release. “Prom can be really expensive; this program is an easy way for girls everywhere to get involved and help other girls in need.”

Justice is donating a dress of her own — the Jill Stuart mini she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music awards (left) — and hoping others follow suit. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Brittany Snow have donated some of their special occasion dresses in the past, too.

In conjunction with the dress drive, Donate My Dress is partnering with Always for its annual Purple Dress Awards, which recognize the most outstanding local chapters in the DonateMyDress.org network. Always will donate $1 for every girl who visits its Facebook page and shares her favorite prom dress style — up to $25,000 — and ultimately give $5,000 to five deserving Donate My Dress chapters to use for dry cleaning, mending, dress drives and more. CHECK OUT THE BEST-DRESSED STARS IN ‘HIT OR MISS?’

We’ve always been fans of finding great designer deals on Rent the Runway, and now, the site is bringing us some one-of-a-kind fashion in the form of its first-ever capsule collection.

Celeb-loved designer Narciso Rodriguez — who’s dressed the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Ashley Greene — created four pieces exclusively for the site, all reimagined versions of two gowns from his archives.

The “Cut Out ” gown (left), which rents for $400, channels the stunning red dress Jennifer Aniston wore on a 2008 cover of Vogue (a blue version is available as well). The “Tailor Made” gown and “Ivory Contrast” dress, which rent for $350 and $275, respectively, draw inspiration from a Rodriguez creation Kate Winslet wore to a New York gala in 2011.

SHOP MORE STAR LOOKS FOR LESS

OK so maybe we already have an alert set for about 5 a.m. the morning Jason Wu’s collection for Target hits stores (just maybe), but now the big bullseye is giving us something else to get excited about: The Shops at Target.

A totally new concept, The Shops at Target features limited-edition items from five U.S. specialty boutiques: San Francisco’s The Candy Store, the Cos Bar of Aspen, Boston’s Polka Dog Bakery, Privet House of Warren, Conn., and The Webster of Miami. They’re basically smaller, local stores Target execs totally loved and wanted to collaborate with, so the retail giant commissioned them to make new, affordable products that will sell in designated areas of Target stores.

Those five boutiques featured in the first round of The Shops (yes, there will be more) will debut at Target stores nationwide and on target.com May 6. Some of the nearly 400 items for sale will include fancy chocolates and whimsical gummies from The Candy Store; inexpensive nail files and soaps from Cos Bar; pet products from Polka Dog; stationery, home goods and more from Privet House; and trendy designer-inspired apparel from The Webster. Prices start at $1 (for nail files) and top out around $160 (for a pouf).

“With The Shops at Target, we’re building on that sense of discovery by offering our guests a chance to experience one-of-a-kind specialty stores and boutiques through collections that have been specifically tailored to their wants and needs,” says Brian Robinson, Target’s director of fashion and design partnerships. It’s his hope this newest collaboration series will “leave even the most loyal Target shoppers wondering what we’ll do next.” Yep, we’re already curious. Beloved by stylish stars including Michelle Obama (who wore his dress to the inaugural ball), Diane Kruger (who often wears his designs) and Lea Michele (attending his fashion show in September), Wu’s signature feminine, flirtatious and slightly retro style is on display in the collection’s frocks, handbags and scarves.
