3 Dots of This Makeup and You'll Look Instantly More Awake

Nov/24/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

We’d heard really, really good things about this cheek gel (which is between a cheek stain and a traditional blush), but it wasn’t until editors here at PEOPLE tested out the product that we finally understood what all the hype is about. Somehow, each of the three shades works on every skin tone (the brand explains that the formula uses “Color Smart Technology;” we say it’s just beauty magic). And the product doesn’t just give your cheeks a glowy, flushed look; dabbing on three dots of the gel then blending also manages to perk up your whole face, making you look like the kind of person who sleeps over eight hours every night and wakes up every morning super refreshed. Now do you understand why women are so crazy about the stuff?

In the same way that swiping on a coat of mascara instantly gives you a more awake and more put-together look, this Perfekt cheek gel counteracts any lingering signs of sleepiness or dragging-ass-ness (yes, that’s the technical term). Here’s how you put it to use: Smile so that the apples of your cheeks are easily identifiable. Then dab on a row of dots starting at the center of your cheeks and extending to just below your temples, on the outside of each eye. Use a finger to tap the gel until it blends.

The color lasts all day without budging since it’s not a powder, but it’s also impossible to mess up and you don’t run the risk of clown face since it’s not a stain.

We love combining the colors and using a lighter shade just below a darker one to create a highlighting effect. And like we say in the video, in a pinch, you can use these as a lip stain as well.

Shop the three colors here or by clicking on the product below the video. If you’ve never bought anything on Joyus.com, enter STYLE15 to get an extra 15% off your order. But before you check out, be sure to take a look at these other beauty products, wellness favorites and fashion finds PEOPLE editors are loving.

Bella Thorne on Getting Crazy With Her Hair: 'Sometimes, You Just Need to Be a Little Uncomfortable'

Nov/21/2014 at 09:00 AM ET

At 17, Bella Thorne may be a relative red carpet newbie, but she’s already achieved pro status in the “enviable hair” category. We caught up with the actress, new author and Candie’s spokeswoman to get the scoop on how she does it (as it turns out: Lots of cuts to keep it healthy and turning down any attempts to tease it). But, she tells PEOPLE, there are styles that even the queen of bold hair is hesitant about.

PEOPLE Style Editors Designed 3 Makeup Pouches -- and They're Awesome!

Nov/20/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

We’re so excited to share these zip pouches with you! Editors here at PEOPLE came up with three fun sayings, which are printed on the designs. And we also dreamt up the look of the mini carryalls: canvas with a rose-gold dipped-paint effect and a matching rose-gold zipper. They’re perfect for toting around makeup, but they’re cute enough to use as a casual clutch. Oh, and by the way, the pouches are just 35 bucks, but each one comes stuffed with over $100 worth of beauty products. Can you say, perfect holiday gift? (Can you also say, uhh, I’m keeping this for myself?)
