You can always count on a homemade, Instagram-worthy Halloween costume from Lauren Conrad. There was the tulle-clad Tooth Fairy of 2013. The pretty ghost (which also required a lot of tulle) of 2012 and the Britney Spears throwback moment of 2011. This year the crafty star is giving the direct-to-Pinterest signature LC spin to an old classic: the glittery mermaid.

What Is This Crazy-Looking Beauty Tool and Why Do You Need One Now?

Oct/27/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

It used to be that, if you wanted to get microdermabrasion (the treatment that uses very fine grains to buff away the top layer of skin, leaving your complexion smoother and more flawless), you had to go to a dermatologist’s office and pay a lot without the help of insurance. And hey, it was worth it, especially since it’s one of the few non-surgical ways to get more youthful skin. But now, with the advent of at-home microdermabrasion tools, you can reap all the benefits without having to drop serious cash. We tested out a whole bunch of the tools and this is our favorite.

There are three colors of this microdermabrasion tool and all of them come with a set of attachments, designed for combination skin, typical skin and even sensitive skin (the latter is gentle enough for anyone to use).

So, here’s what to expect once you start using this guy: Your pores will be less noticeable, your skin will feel softer and more supple, plus your makeup will go on more smoothly. It’s like the best exfoliation you’ve ever experienced, only it won’t leave you all red and inflamed.

Now, we know it’s not exactly cheap, but it’s way less than what you’d pay for a visit to the derm for the treatment and this is something you’ll have and can use for the rest of your life. Plus, you can share it with your significant other (that’s what this editor does!). And if you’ve never shopped on Joyus before, you get an extra 15% off, bringing the cost down to $135.

Shop it by going here or clicking on the product in the product tray just below the video.

We love using ours in conjunction with this silicone face-washing tool — the combo has left our skin smoother and more flawless than anything else we’ve tried.
