Shailene Woodley Turns Up the Heat in a Sexy White Gown at the Berlin Divergent Premiere

Shailene Woodley promised she would be taking her style more seriously on her Divergent press tour, and for the most part, she’s been true to her word. (There was this moment, but that’s neither here nor there.) So far, the actress, 22, has been looking perfectly pretty in pieces like this blue lace Stella McCartney number and this blazing orange gown, but we had a feeling that a “Wow” moment was on the way.

Finally, in Berlin, she cranked her style scale up to 11 in this plunging, dramatic Zuhair Murad gown with gold chain detail in both the front and back. She slicked down her hair and applied a dark wine lip — a total departure for the actress, who is more frequently seen sporting a light pink balm (when she wears any makeup at all). We’re especially intrigued by the lipstick; since Woodley says she’ll only wear pure cosmetics, she seems to have found the holy grail of lip colors — after all, a good all-natural, saturated, stay-put lipstick is hard to find. (Makeup artist Gloria Noto reveals she mixed Tarte’s deep red “Moody” with its brighter “Fiery.” Says Noto of the look, “Since her dress was so sleek and white, we needed some drama in the face but still wanted it to be minimal so we went with a very 1920′s Berlin silent film actress look. This is one of my favorite looks we’ve done!”)

She still kept jewelry to the bare minimum, but this look has enough going on that keeping it simple really sets it off nicely. Woodley proves that sometimes, all you need to rock a dress is the perfect fit and a big smile.

What do you think of the star’s latest look? Is this a personal best for her?

Now that warmer weather is finally on its way, wintry nail polish hues (think black, navy and wine) are making their red carpet exits — and making room for new hues. Our favorite of the latest crop: this pale blue hue, which seems to have popped up overnight. And Hollywood’s leading ladies are (sorry, we have to) nailing it! Check out three looks we’re loving and let us know which shade you’re into.

The H&M Conscious Collection dinner in West Hollywood last night brought out four of our favorite fashionistas, and surprising no one, they each had some noteworthy style moments happening in their ensembles. Sure, their clothes were killer (from left, Kate Mara, Sophia Bush and Emmy Rossum each wore pieces from the eco-friendly H&M line, and Camilla Belle wore Osman) but it’s their accessories that really stood out to us this time.

Shailene Woodley's Divergent Screening Jean Shorts: Cute or Way Too Casual?

For many starlets, one of the major perks of “making it” is all the pretty clothes and jewelry that come their way — both for premieres and just for fun. For Shailene Woodley, 22, getting gussied up for the red carpet is the least fun part of her job. Day-to-day, she wears no makeup and used clothing exclusively, though she understands why she can’t do that while promoting a film.

“If I was to show up wearing my five-toe shoes, my Melodia organic leggings and some hippie top, no one is going to take me seriously,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “When I go on a red carpet, I’m Shailene, but I’m also Shailene representing a movie.” She reiterated the sentiment to Into the Gloss recently, saying, “For me, to show up to something like Live with Kelly and Michael with Converse on and no makeup would be disrespectful.”
