When Gwen Stefani kicked off New York Fashion Week’s first day with a presentation of her Spring/Summer 2010 L.A.M.B. at Milk Studios in Manhattan, she filled the room with her signature eclectic mix. But something was a little different this time around, which marks the singer’s seventh year as a designer. “There were so many things that inspired and influenced the collection,” Gwen told PEOPLE about the show. “It kind of started with a little bit of an African ’80s nod,” she said of the mix of harem pants, animal patterns, beaded necklaces and graphic prints. “But the theme I was really focusing on was just trying to create the stuff you’re looking for in your closet — really casual, easy, comfortable, wearable stuff.” And it seems she met her goal, based on wear-everywhere pieces like a tie-dyed skinny jeans, and the perfect white motorcycle jacket. As for creating the go-to staples in her fans wardrobes, Gwen explains, “I’ve always wanted that out of L.A.M.B. but it’s not easy to do. I finally got to that point where after seven years I’m really starting to learn how to get there and this collection totally reflects that. It’s very neutral colors — black, white, gray with pops of like hot red and crazy yellow and electric blue. It’s basically a really simple collection.” We can’t wait for spring! New York City’s much anticipated Fashion’s Night Out lived up to the hype, especially for the screaming fans and shoppers who made their way up to famed department store Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue to catch a glimpse of Victoria Beckham, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Lines to get into the luxury store stretched around the block and inside was just as packed. Victoria, clad in thigh-high Gucci boots and a neon mini dress, arrived around 7:30 PM to pose for pictures and sign Fashion’s Night Out T-shirts, telling PEOPLE on her way out, “It was great. It was really great.” Meanwhile, Mary-Kate and Ashley took a break from designing successful lines Elizabeth and James and The Row to work as bartenders on the 7th floor. Marli Milask, a lucky shopper who got an Olsen-mixed martini, tells PEOPLE, “It’s not that strong, but it’s good. We waited an hour to get inside and just see them for ten minutes, but it was worth it. They were very nice, just pouring drinks and handing them out.” And though the scene at Bergdorf’s was mayhem, one of the bartenders who worked beside the Olsens tells PEOPLE that the famous designers weren’t phased. “It was very relaxed. We were making a vodka and pomegranate drink. We mixed a couple of hundred drinks together. They’re very hard workers. Last month, we told you Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub’s teen daughter had signed with IMG models, and she’s already snagged her first cover. The Daily, Fashion Week’s daily glossy that recounts all the shows, parties and gossip from the day before, usually reserves its much coveted covers for designers and the most talked-about looks, but this Saturday, they are introducing the fashion world to Christine, whom they are billing as “America’s next beauty”. So, does this mean we’ll see Christine on the runway this week? “She may walk in one or two, depending on her school schedule,” an IMG rep tells PEOPLE. And while most girls in Christine’s position would take some time off from school, this Jersey girl is sticking to the books. “I’m so excited to be signed by IMG, and I know people will see me around the upcoming shows, but as the President reminded, school comes first so I’m going to concentrate on my studies,” Christine tells PEOPLE. “I want to make sure that any work I do in the coming year allows me to focus my energy on my classes, varsity track and of course my first love: reading.” We will be on the look out for Christine hitting the runway — and, of course, her mother Danielle sitting front row — this weekend. After a failed fashion show on season one of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Housewife Sheree Whitfield is headed to New York Fashion Week to silence all the critics and take on the big catwalk. The budding designer of She by Sheree will be debuting her “sexy chic”-inspired collection, which she describes as “any fashion conscious woman’s dream: colorful, form fitting, powerful and definitely international.” In true Housewives form, Whitfield promises the September 13th show will be chock-full of fabulous designs and even more drama! When Lady Gaga made a fashion statement wearing a coat of miniature Kermits, we knew Miss Piggy would be green with envy. So how does a Muppet get revenge on one of the biggest trendsetters in the world? Go couture, of course! Miss Piggy called in a fashionable favor from one of the world’s most famous designers — Marc Jacobs! And though he has dressed some of Hollywood’s hottest stars including Victoria Beckham, Anne Hathaway and Madonna, the designer made some time for Miss Piggy this week, inviting the plush diva to his SoHo studio to go over looks for New York’s upcoming fashion week. So does this mean Miss Piggy will be taking a much coveted front row seat come September? We certainly hope so! But we do know for sure she will be showing off a Marc Jacobs couture gown at this week’s Glamorama event in Chicago. Here’s to hoping Lady Gaga and Miss Piggy square off across the catwalk!
