Miley Cyrus Takes Five Inches Off Her Hair

First a new puppy, and now, a new look. Miley Cyrus debuted a fresh new haircut Friday after lunching at Wokcano Restaurant in West Hollywood.

“Just got a hurrrr cut,” the singer Tweeted that day, later adding, “I didn’t do anything to crazy. But I did take 5 inches off!”

Though Cyrus hasn’t changed her hair’s long length in quite some time — her last major cut was in June of 2010 — she has played color chameleon over the years, going super dark (and then light again) in 2008. (She cut bangs that year, too.)

Her new do is definitely lower maintenance, and probably a nice change for the young star, but we want to know what you think. Tell us: Do you like Cyrus’s new haircut?

Kate Hudson Doesn’t Ever Feel ‘Red Carpet Ready’

Everything about Kate Hudson‘s look is enviable: her pretty eyes, her flawless figure, that shiny hair. But as it turns out, much of her beauty routine is based around a $37 jar of cream.

“I try to use natural products,” Hudson, the latest face of Almay (seen here in a behind-the-scenes shot from her Smart Shade Perfect & Correct Primer campaign), tells PEOPLE. “Sometimes I’ll just put Egyptian Magic on my face. I use it for everything.” In fact, the gentle cream — made of olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly and propolis extract — is the key to her ocean-kissed locks, too.

“This is going to sound crazy,” she says, “but I literally put Egyptian Magic in my hair. When it’s damp, I’ll scrunch some of it in my hair and let it dry.”

Growing up with mom Goldie Hawn in charge, Hudson says she had lots of freedom with her hair, makeup and clothing choices. “I came out pretty much putting on whatever I wanted,” she shares. “I think I was more vocal than my mom about style than she was with me about style.”

Lauren Alaina Loses Her ‘Signature Look’ in Favor of Pink-Hued Hair

Country singer Lauren Alaina is pretty in pink … hair, that is. Earlier this week, the American Idol runner-up Tweeted a photo of her new “really blonde” hair featuring several streaks of the hot new hue.

Nashville hairstylist Melissa Schleicher, owner of Parlour 3 salon in Brentwood, Tenn., lengthened Alaina’s locks with tape-in Platinum Seamless hair extensions, and called on the salon’s colorist, Vallorie Barnes, to lighten it all up.

“We took her from the two-tone blonde and brown — her signature look — to a sandy, golden blonde all over,” Schleicher, who also counts Carrie Underwood and the men of Rascal Flatts as clients, tells PEOPLE.

As for the pink highlights, Schleicher says Alaina told her team, “‘I’m taking away the brown, I want something fun.’” So, the stylist shares, “We put pink in.”

Dakota Fanning Gives Her Hair the Pink Slip

Looks like someone’s tickled pink!

After debuting dip-dyed ends last week, Dakota Fanning took her new look to lunch in Beverly Hills on Tuesday.

“You can’t worry about what other people think,” the 17-year-old NYU freshman recently told Elle UK. “Especially if you’re a known person, or sometimes you won’t be able to get out of bed.”

With that philosophy in mind, Fanning paired her graduated strands with a crisp oxford, pleated mini and chunky black wedges. The hairstyle, while daring, is hardly a new trend in Hollywood: last year, stars including Sienna Miller, Lauren Conrad and Kate Bosworth added bright hues from the bottom up. Katy Perry experimented with a pinky shade in 2011, too.

We applaud Dakota’s bold change, but want to know what you think: Do you like Fanning’s pink-tipped hair?

Shop Emma Stone’s $57 Beauty Routine!

When Emma Stone arrived at Sunday’s Golden Globes, all eyes were on her dramatic two-toned Lanvin gown; upon closer inspection, however, it was the star’s radiant skin that stole the show.

Maintaining that flawless complexion doesn’t come easy: “Not to brag,” she jokes to Style.com, “but I have a lot of allergies.” That’s why Stone relies on Aura Cacia’s $14.49 natural grapeseed oil as moisturizer (bottom right). “After the shower, I pat it on, and then I’ll use it throughout the day and at night. I pretty much smell like grape all the time.”

But while her skin seeks moisture, Stone’s famous red strands are oil adverse. “I need a lot of moisture for my skin, but not for my hair,” she explains. “I have the opposite problem with my scalp as I do my face.” To keep her “baby-fine” strands light and shiny, she opts for Davines $26.00 “Nounou” conditioner (bottom left).

Leave it to celebrities to make an old trend new again. Headbands — once the preferred accessory of third-graders everywhere — made a triumphant return to the red carpet last night on actresses Michelle Williams, Charlize Theron and Busy Philipps.

Williams kept her blonde pixie under wraps in a vintage Fred Leighton for Forevermark headband, while Theron accentuated her soft do with a vintage Cartier band. Meanwhile, Cougartown‘s Busy Philipps put her own twist on the trend, using a simple platinum band to keep her updo in place.

Whaddya Think of Katy Perry’s Neon Blue Do?

Katy Perry Blue Hair Photo
Splash News Online

Is Katy Perry trying to tell us something?

Just weeks after splitting from Russell Brand, the pop star, who was noticeably absent from Wednesday’s People’s Choice Awards despite being honored with five awards, surfaced in L.A. on Thursday with a bright blue new do.

While hardly a remarkable move for the color chameleon, who has dabbled in every shade under the rainbow, it is a drastic change from the warm blonde hue the star was sporting last month.
