The Duchess of Cambridge has sparkled in every trend from pleats to stripes, but it seems she’s picked up on one look in particular lately: lace.

The birthday girl (she’s 30 today!) wore a lacy floor-length gown by Alice Temperley to the U.K. premiere of War Horse Sunday, pairing the dress with her own jewels. She’d previously worn lace in September, turning heads in a red Collette Dinnigan frock at a friend’s wedding in Wilton, Wiltshire.

Kate also turned to the delicate fabric twice during her North American tour last summer; for her first appearance on Canadian soil in June, the Duchess chose a navy-and-white lace dress by Canadian-born designer Erdem Moralioglu. Days later, she sported another Erdem creation, this one cobalt with lacy detailing along the shoulders and chest.

Her most famous lace outfit, however, was her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown, composed of French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace throughout the bodice, skirt and underskirt. Perhaps lace means “ladylike” in the royal family? Tell us: Do you love the Duchess in lace?

Rarr! Some of our favorite stylistas have us seeing spots these days … but we’re totally okay with that. Reese Witherspoon, Kourtney Kardashian and Ashlee Simpson are just getting a jump on one of fall’s hottest trends: leopard print.

Witherspoon wore her printed dress to a recent benefit in Los Angeles, pairing the pretty frock with a classic black blazer and peep-toe booties — a subtle approach. Kardashian opted for a louder take, wearing wild tights with booties and a jumpsuit in New York. And Simpson, out in L.A., made her look optional: she could slip her faux fur Topshop coat off or keep it over her delicate white dress for added drama. Me-wow indeed! WOULD YOU WEAR THESE TRENDS?

Thinking of wearing a kitten heel out this weekend? Ba-na-nas. According to Rachel Zoe, you have to stick to flats or go sky-high. And wide-leg jeans? So in. The celebrity stylist is sharing these gems and more in the September issue of Redbook, which features Zoe’s seven principles of style. Want some free advice from one of Hollywood’s fiercest fashionistas? Here are some tips:

Wide-leg jeans or boot-cut jeans are surprisingly flattering. “They really elongate the leg,” she tells the magazine. “People think they have to wear everything skin-tight to look smaller, but that’s just not the case. I wear my jeans with a vintage Chanel jacket and an LNA tee: It’s glamorous, but also really comfortable.”

Try a tuxedo jacket for fall if you’re feeling trendy. “It’s flattering for every size — and every age — and it can be worn seamlessly from work to a night out,” says Zoe.

Accessorize to boost your outfit impact. “It can turn a good outfit into a great one,” she says. “But edit — if you wear a necklace and earrings and a crazy bag and a crazy shoe, you’ll look like you have on a costume.”

When it comes to shoes, go high or low, just don’t go in between. “I like flats and I adore a high heel, but I don’t love a kitten heel,” she says. “It’s neither here nor there. And the one shoe I will never wear is sneakers.”

We’ve seen these stars working intricate designer dresses in recent weeks, but these days, they’re all keeping it cool and casual in denim! Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Stella McCartney proved that the relaxed fabric can be cute, each sporting a different denim dress this week. Witherspoon looked country-chic in a comfy denim Imogene + Willie button down — accessorized with a temporary new shoe — while stepping out for lunch with friends at L.A.’s Brentwood Country Mart. Meanwhile, Lopez made her denim a little dressier, choosing a ruffled one-shoulder frock for American Idol on Wednesday night, embellishing it with big earrings and a perky ponytail. And across the pond in London, designer McCartney proved that simple can be sexy when she went out Tuesday in a 3/4-length-sleeve denim shirtdress complemented by brown sandals and a matching leather bag. When it comes to color, less is more. Or at least that was the case Tuesday evening, when Hollywood’s leading ladies stepped out wearing different versions of nude-toned dresses. Gwyneth Paltrow showed that neutral doesn’t have to be boring when she took the stage at Good Housekeeping‘s Shine On Awards in New York City in a nude sheath dress and matching shoes, perfectly paired with simple makeup. At the same awards show, Heather Graham tried out a similar look, sporting a sleeveless peach number, pretty pumps and bright lipstick. And across the country at the Gatorade G Series Fit party in Beverly Hills, Minka Kelly showed off her curves in a cream-colored cap-sleeve dress (it had a silver zipper all the way up the back!) brightened by a fire engine red bag, heels and nails. WEIGH IN ON STAR STYLE FADS IN ‘WOULD YOU WEAR THESE TRENDS?’

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are adding another element to their rapidly-expanding fashion empire. The CFDA-nominated duo has partnered with BeachMint to launch StyleMint.com, an online shopping site that acts like a personal stylist to bring you exclusive apparel using customized shopping technology. “Online commerce is the perfect medium for us to create a new brand that is as much about the clothing as it is about the customer experience,” Ashley said in a release. “BeachMint is the ideal partner as they share our vision for the brand and have the resources and talent to execute it.” The site will debut with an exclusive T-shirt line, and will offer its members personalized selections from the collection to fit their style profile. StyleMint will also delve into the full shopping experience with trend reports and how-to videos showing shoppers how to wear and pair items. “With StyleMint.com, Ashley and I have created an online experience reflecting our love of style and allowing us to engage with our customers directly, which is an inspiring new way for us to think and create as designers,” Mary-Kate added. StyleMint will launch this summer and will join BeachMint’s expanding family of online brands, including Kate Bosworth’s accessories line, JewelMint. There may not have been any walks down the wedding aisle this week (with the exception of Reese!), but there was an abundance of white dresses at CinemaCon in Last Vegas. Leading ladies Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Blake Lively all proved that you don’t have to be a bride to don a white dress — and you don’t have to wait until after Memorial Day, either! Lively rocked a Dolce & Gabbana lacy mini and topped it with a jacket to promote her new film, Green Lantern, at the event Wednesday night (she later swapped it for red). Meanwhile, Diaz flaunted her toned physique in a cotton waffle ribbon-strap dress from the spring/summer 2011 Victoria Beckham collection on Thursday, as she picked up an award for female star of the year. Pal Barrymore, who surprised her Charlie’s Angels costar by presenting her with her statuette on stage, wore an Akris white cotton silk long-sleeve dress from the line’s spring/summer 2011 collection, rounding out the bold and bright trend. These days Sandra Bullock, Leona Lewis and Rose Byrne are all about being blunt — by rocking Hollywood’s newest bang trend. A month after Bullock premiered blunt bangs at the Golden Globes, Lewis and Byrne have followed suit, shielding their peepers with equally heavy fringe. At Tuesday’s L.A. premiere of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Lewis debuted her sleek new do. The very next night, Byrne attended the amfAR gala, kicking off New York Fashion Week in her own version of the cut: a soft, shoulder-length bob created by John Frieda Consultant Harry Josh. Hollywood’s fashionistas including Nicole Kidman, Hailee Steinfeld and Julianne Moore embraced the lighter end of the color spectrum this weekend. At the 26th Annual Santa Barbara Film Festival on Friday, award recipient Nicole Kidman wore a sophisticated belted Nina Ricci shirtdress, which she paired with strappy putty-colored Pierre Hardy heels and an Omega watch. At the same event, Oscar nominee, Hailee Steinfeld, opted for a feminine cap-sleeved Alberta Ferretti frock, punctuated by red Aldo pumps. The following night, in N.Y.C., Moore was red, black and white all over, juxtaposing fiery tendrils with a stark white smock by The Row and matte tights at an HRC event. Now that Jennifer Lopez has finally made her debut on American Idol, it’s time to start seeing her inevitable parade of fabulous frocks. And it doesn’t sound like sitting behind a judging table alongside Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler for most of the show will mean that her wardrobe is going to be anything less than stunning. “You’re going to see everything,” Lopez said of her American Idol look at the TCA Press tour last week, InStyle.com reports. “I can only be myself on the show. I’m not going to try and play it down or play it up or do anything. I’m just going to be me, that’s always worked for me with the public. They see me, they know that I’m real.” And that means sticking to a glamorous look that doesn’t take a whole lot of time.  “I don’t want to over-think it too much,” she said. “I’m a girl who likes to get dressed up, put on her jewelry or her lipstick and go. We have already seen literal interpretations of menswear for the ladies, but fashion’s boldest trendsetters re-imagined the trend in a variety of ways — all in the last day! The latest iterations of the look range from the risqué to the buttoned-up, but always include stylishly sexy details. Tuesday night, Cate Blanchett opted for a black-and-white look, selecting crisp white trousers and shiny lapels for the IWC “A Night in Portofino” gala in Geneva, Switzerland. In L.A., Camilla Belle was spotted pairing high-waisted tuxedo trousers with a gauzy nude bandeau, revealing her toned abdomen at the premiere of From Prada to Nada. And back across the pond, Kylie Minogue ramped up a classic suit with a sheer blouse, breezy bow and crimped updo. Nearly two months after Posh turned heads in a citrus-hued shift of her own design, three very different stars opted to wear the punchy color in three very different ways! Drew Barrymore hit Covergirl’s 50^th anniversary bash in West Hollywood Wednesday night, glowing in a strapless orange Jil Sander dress with a gathered hem, Jack Vartanian earrings and knuckle-length Lucifer vir Honestus ring. Also in L.A., newcomer Lucy Hale attended the People’s Choice Awards in a tangerine Ronald Abdala frock and silver Rene Caovilla sandals. 3,000 miles away in N.Y.C., Emmy Rossum stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in a two-toned frock with sheer sleeves and gold Coomi chandelier earrings. That same night in N.Y.C., Angelina flashed some leg in a winter white Atelier Versace wrap dress that highlighted her limbs and ample décolletage. The following evening, across the pond, Designer Brand of the Year nominee, Beckham, left little to the imagination in a slitted kimono gown of her design at the British Fashion Awards. WEIGH IN ON MORE STAR TRENDS IN LAST NIGHT’S LOOK: HIT OR MISS?

It looks like Hollywood stylistas are suiting themselves–literally! Yesterday we asked if you would wear a suit and tie like Leighton Meester did to the Gotham Independent Film Awards. And while our respondents were split down the middle on the trend, A-listers like Winona Ryder, Jessica Alba and Halle Berry, are clearly giving the look a sartorial thumbs up. Ryder, who has dabbled in menswear before, upped the ante last night, arriving at the N.Y.C. premiere of Black Swan in a tuxedo jacket, black oxford, slacks and a blinged-out lariat necklace, while Alba ditched the feminine frocks in favor of a fitted Dolce & Gabbana blazer, and slouch trousers for Footwear News’ 24^th annual Achievement Awards. Rounding out Tuesday night’s trifecta was Halle Berry, who selected a jacquard black and gold ’70s-inspired look with a plunging sparkly blouse—all by Balmain. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, menswear is definitely a fall wardrobe staple, but we usually reserve the full-on look for interviews. Just like every other fashionista, Gwyneth Paltrow is gearing up for spring, and the style star is sharing her must-haves for the season in her GOOP newsletter. “Hands down, our most coveted, most transitional must-have for spring is the dress. Put it in a rich royal sapphire color with classic details that DVF does so well – a fitted waist, tiered bottom and flirty cut – and you have a piece that will take you effortlessly from day to night,” writes Gwyneth, who called upon New York-based stylist Annie Ladino to help her find spring’s hottest pieces. And for a piece that will get you all the way through to fall, Gwyneth recommends “the little white dress,” of course! “In all its incarnations, it is the perfect piece to pack for all your summer getaways.” Designers, says Gwyneth, really showed the “playful side of fashion” this season with all-over prints, stripes, textured zig-zags, tie-dye and embellished fabrics to name a few. “Forget what everyone told you about mixing prints – more is more this spring!” Pairing printed dresses and basics with high fashion toppers has never been easier according to Gwyneth, who writes “classic military shapes and colors were made totally wearable this season, and the key is all in the details. Fashion stars like Emily Blunt, Diane Kruger and Sandra Bullock ruled last week’s Golden Globe Awards in soft pinks and purples, but for this week’s SAG Awards, Hollywood’s leading ladies went va-va-voom sexy in red-hot gowns. Carey Mulligan channeled old-Hollywood glamour in her fishtail Lanvin gown–complete with a vintage-inspired diamond broach, while Mariah Carey and Christina Hendricks smoldered in one-shoulder, curve-hugging numbers. Navy blues also heated up the red carpet from Drew Barrymore‘s tiered Monique Lhuillier to Julianna Margulies’s velvet Narciso Rodriguez. And stars like Kate Hudson and Christina Applegate (in Roberto Cavalli) made a statement from the back with reverse plunges. From harem pants to fingerless gloves, fashion trends got risky in 2009. And though some things, like tie-dyed jeans were better left in the ’80s, not all trends were bad. Who didn’t buy fringed sandals after Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Love Hewitt stepped out in the same pair by Gerard Darel? We sure did! In fact, we are hoping many of 2009′s biggest trends make the cut in 2010 — including Miley’s lace tights, Kate Hudson‘s suiting dress and Penelope Cruz‘s thigh-high boots.
