Ruth Bader Ginsburg Has a Large Supply of 'Notorious RBG' Shirts

Oct/20/2014 at 11:41 AM ET

Sure, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one of the greatest American minds of our time, residing on the Supreme Court (and making history while doing so) for more than 20 years, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have a little fun with it. The 81-year-old Associate Justice confessed at an event in N.Y.C. that not only does she own T-shirts printed with her likeness and the words “Notorious RBG,” but she also gives them out to friends.

If you were wondering to yourself yesterday, “What’s Macaulay Culkin been up to lately?”, well, your timing was impeccable. Because as it turns out, he was posting a photo of himself to the Twitter of his Velvet Underground cover band, Pizza Underground. (More on that here.) But it wasn’t just any photo of himself. It was a photo of himself wearing a T-shirt that featured an image of Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt that featured an image of Macaulay Culkin as a child. And yes, he knows it’s trippy. “Let’s get meta #ryangosling #macaulayculkin #shirt” he captioned the below photo.

Gifts That Give Back: Put Your Duck Face to Good Use With Selfless Selfie

You’ve been busily bookmarking our gift guide, but this December, we’re also going to draw your attention to great gifts that also give back — to the community, to children, to the world around us. Check them out, and share your favorite gifts that give in the comments.

It’s impossible to scroll through your Instagram feed without catching a glimpse of that one person who seems to post a selfie every five minutes. But before you roll your eyes (yet again) we’ve got some good news — those vanity portraits can now go to a good cause, as model Poppy Delevingne recently showed us on her account. All it takes is to make it a Selfless Selfie.

RELATED: Selfie is the Oxford Dictionaries ‘Word of the Year 2013’

Selfless Selfie is a fundraising campaign started by ActionAid, a company based out of the UK that strives to further human rights and end poverty for all. They started the campaign in response to the typhoon disaster in the Philippines earlier this year.

How does this fundraising fad work, you may ask? Well, first, you’ll want to buy one of the shirts from their website, because all proceeds go to relief efforts in the Philippines. Then don it and give us your best smize. Finally, upload the picture to Instagram with the hashtag #selflessselfie, and ActionAid will post your picture alongside Poppy’s in the selfie gallery, so the world can see how you (and that annoying selfie-posting pal of yours) are using your social media power for good.

Which filter will you choose when you take your Selfless Selfie? Tell us in the comments below!

What Are These Stars Thinking? Let Their Shirts Tell You

Continuing our weeklong theme of ’90s trend resurgence, we’d like to inform you that logo tees are back in a big way. But unlike the Abercrombie & Fitch-emblazoned tops you remember, stars are loving comfy, casual tees that poke fun at brand-name tops.

RELATED PHOTOS: Vote on statement-making star style in Last Night’s Look!

Clockwise from top left, check out Beyoncé in her “Name Brand” tank, Jordin Sparks perhaps paying tribute to boyfriend Jason DeRulo, Ashley Tisdale cheekily winking at Céline with a “Célfie” tee, Eva Longoria saying what the rest of us are thinking (“I’d rather be shopping!”) and Katy Perry riffing on the Christian Dior logo with a “Christian Death Metal” top.

We can always get behind making a statement with your clothing, but if you’re looking to really tap the celeb zeitgeist, you’ll nab a tee that’s a play on a designer logo. Shopjeen.com has a ton, from the Hermès logo altered to read “Homies” (owned by Khloé Kardashian), to a chic shout-out to Haider Ackermann, to a message to Saint Laurent many might agree with.

Tell us: Are you into wearing your heart on your tee? Would you wear a designer “knockoff” — and how would you style it?

–Alex Apatoff
