In our weekly round-up of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we noticed that stars were really into bold prints and patterns — but leaving their heavy winter wear behind.
Up: Funky shoes. No silly-putty pumps or boring black heels for many stars this week. In fact, both AnnaSophia Robb and Katy Perry wore head-turning flats from Aldo, while we saw sexy studded heels on Olivia Wilde and colorful striped sandals on Olivia Palermo. We’re now fighting the urge to do a total shoe closet overhaul.
Up: Bold Pants Outfits.Selena Gomez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hailee Steinfeld and even Jennifer Aniston all ditched pretty dresses for something much more striking and statement-making: the dramatic pantsuit. Strong shoulders, graphic prints and structured tailoring made these looks totally traffic-stopping.
Down: Heavy, Dark Looks. Don’t get us wrong: We like all the components of Sarah Jessica Parker’s look individually. But at a time when hemlines are getting higher, tights are getting stashed and coats are headed to the dry-cleaners before going into storage, this whole outfit together feels a little drab. Nothing wrong with a coat worn as a dress (as Princess Kate knows well): It just needs a slimmer silhouette and a more spring-friendly fabric.
It’s no big secret that PeopleStyleWatch.com editors love to shop. This week, we’re showing off the latest things we picked up that were just too good to keep them to ourselves.

The Duchess of Cambridge may be pregnant, but it hasn’t slowed down her perpetually chic style streak one bit.
She had the highest-ratest ensemble in Last Night’s Look: Love It or Leave It, capturing 93% “hearts” from PEOPLE StyleWatch readers for her belted chocolate Hobbs overcoat and black low-heeled pumps, which she wore to an appearance in Grimsby, England.
In second place, with 92% “Love It!” votes, was Girls star Allison Williams, looking sleek and simply elegant (as usual) at the premiere of Girl Rising. She wore a black Dior mini with a sculptural bodice, basic black accessories and Van Cleef & Arpels sparklers to finish off the look.
Check out (and vote on!) what other celebs wore this week, and tell us: Is Kate your best-dressed star this week? If not, who is?
Some stars check out the runways for style inspiration, others keep tabs on Pinterest, and still others look to a certain children’s TV show for fashion tips — at least if these celebs’ current outerwear of choice is any indication.
We’re sure Jessica Chastain is terrific in Broadway’s The Heiress, but for us, the real exciting drama is seeing what coat she’ll be wearing outside the stage door. From trenches to jackets, luxe wool numbers to casual toppers, she seems to have a coat in every color and for every occasion (plus the world’s biggest coat closet: we lost count at the 15th new one).
And because we love a challenge, we decided to narrow down her many coats to our five favorites. At far left, she’s in a rich camel Michael Kors coat; the second and third shots are two of her four Burberry trenches (lucky girl!); the fourth is another Michael Kors number (which she also owns in black); the last is a cute toggled duffel perfect for a breezy N.Y.C. day.
Now we need you to do the hard part: which of Jessica Chastain’s chic coats is your favorite?
When it comes to most things, Jennifer Lopez will not allow herself to be outdone. Which is why we weren’t at all surprised to see the diva make the rounds in N.Y.C. Tuesday wearing not one, not two, but four distinctly different pieces of outerwear.
For a crack-of-dawn appearance on Good Morning America, she was Classic J.Lo, in an elegant fur-trimmed trench by Diane von Furstenberg. Stepping out of a car midday, she was Fierce J.Lo, wearing a leopard-print A.L.C. outfit and her trademark thigh-highs.
