If Vanessa Abrams thought college would free her of Blair Waldorf’s wrath, she was dead wrong. While trying to sabotage each other’s chances of giving the NYU freshman toast, Gossip Girl’s rival starlets, played by Jessica Szohr and Leighton Meester, might have lost their cool, but at least they kept their style. Blair dreamed of her defeat while wearing a jeweled Reem Acra plum gown. Vanessa, on the other hand, came close to her first victory over her arch enemy while sticking to her signature boho chic in a tribal-print Nanette Lepore top, American Apparel liquid leggings and Dolce Vita booties. And even though both stylish freshman were beat out by a Herve Leger-clad Olivia Burke, played by Hilary Duff, we still loved their competing looks so much that we had to find them for you. Dan Humphrey, played by Penn Badgley, isn’t the only thing Gossip Girl’s two most famous blondes have in common. Serena van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively, and new girl Olivia Burke, played by Hilary Duff, ditch their glam lives for quiet time out of the spotlight. But the designer labels stay with them. Olivia sported a purple Intermix ruffled dress and Christian Louboutin sling backs. Serena, on the other hand, put a conservative spin on her luxe labels by pairing a curve-hugging Herve Leger bandage skirt and sparkling Valentino purse with a Topshop boyfriend blazer to interview with Tory Burch. Gossip Girl’s resident fashionistas might not have seen eye-to-eye about boys on last night’s episode (ahem, Carter Baizen), but Leighton Meester’s Blair Waldorf and Blake Lively’s Serena van der Woodsen did manage to agree on one thing — color! Leaving Vanessa Abrams’s boho fashion influences in the dust, Blair headed back uptown, happily slipping right back into her signature, sophisticated style with a canary yellow Diane von Furstenberg wrap top and a black-and-white Vince skirt. Even Serena got into the bright mood, mixing sapphire Zara sandals and a turquoise Treesje clutch with a navy Matthew Williamson dress. New season, new school, new look for Gossip Girl’s Queen Bee Blair Waldorf, as played by Leighton Meester brought her Upper East Side style down to NYU, but her Victoria Beckham peplum dress and matching headband didn’t play quite as well below 14th Street. Now, for Waldorf’s arch-enemy Vanessa Abrams, played by Jessica Szohr, the transition from Brookyn to campus was a little bit easier with her signature funky style, like last night’s Joie denim cargo shorts and a floral DVF print tank.
