Fashion Faceoff: Dakota vs. Ashley in Sheer Tops & Skinnies

Two very different events were happening on the coasts Tuesday night: the sexy GQ Men of the Year bash in Los Angeles and the sophisticated CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund honors in New York. But somehow, two stars — Dakota Johnson and Ashley Greene — ended up wearing similar styles to the two parties.

Johnson, star of FOX’s Ben and Kate (and daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson), dressed up for the GQ fête in Gomez-Gracia quilted leather leggings, plus a sheer lace Joe’s top and black bra, metallic clutch and black heels.

Twilight‘s Greene, rubbing elbows with the fashion set at the CFDA/Vogue event, chose a lace wing-back blouse, black bra top and matching moto pant from the Wes Gordon spring/summer 2013 collection. She finished her ensemble with black heels, as well. It was a much different choice than the Donna Karan Atelier gown she’d worn to the Breaking Dawn — Part 2 premiere in L.A. the night before.

Both women are incredibly gorgeous — and have the bodies to make such a tricky trend work — but we want to know what you think of their looks. Tell us: Who works her sheer lace top and black pants best?

Fashion Faceoff: Michelle Obama vs. Ann Romney in Pink

Their husbands may have been battling for the presidency on Tuesday night, but Michelle Obama and Ann Romney were having a competition of their own: who could pull off an all-pink look better.

At the second presidential debate at Long Island’s Hofstra University, the First Lady and Romney both selected ensembles in the feminine hue, prompting many people to wonder on Twitter if it was a nod to Breast Cancer Awareness (recognized throughout the month of October).

Obama wore a hot-pink crepe Michael Kors sheath topped off with a cropped jacket in the same shade, plus a single strand of pearls. Romney went for an almost identical pink, sporting the color in the form of a cap-sleeve knee-length number, which she accessorized with a blue-green glass beaded necklace and a few golden bangles.

Fashion Faceoff: Elizabeth Hurley vs. Lady Gaga in Versace’s ‘Safety Pin’ Dress

It takes a bold woman to pull off a dress as daring as Versace’s infamous ‘safety pin’ gown, but if anyone was going to try, of course it would be Lady Gaga.

The singer donned the barely there creation in Milan on Tuesday, 18 years after Elizabeth Hurley first made jaws drop while wearing the dress to the London premiere of Hugh Grant’s Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The black silk and lycra creation plunges at the neckline and has a super-revealing slit, held together at the upper thigh and along the sides with a few golden safety pins. Gaga accessorized the gown with dangling gold earrings and major platform boots, while Hurley went a simpler route, adding hoops, a clutch and basic black heels.

‘That Dress’ (yes, it even has its own Wikipedia page) made Hurley a star — and probably made then-beau Grant very happy. But what will it do for Gaga, aside from drawing comparisons to Hurley? That remains to be seen. Tell us: Who wears the dress best? Vote in our poll below!

Fashion Faceoff: Three Stars, One Hot Heel

What costs nearly a grand, has the ability to turn heads and can be found in the closets of Kristen Stewart, Ginnifer Goodwin and Elizabeth Banks? This shoe:

In the past few weeks, these three actresses have stepped out in the Jimmy Choo “Taste” heel from the label’s 2013 cruise collection, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the kicks make appearances on a few more red carpets. After all, they’re a little bit classic, a little bit fashion-forward — and as the three ladies show, they can be worn with a wide range of outfits.

Stewart was the first to don the Choo at an On the Road screening in New York City on Sept. 10. The actress dressed down the sophisticated heel with a menswear-inspired look consisting of A.L.C. trousers, a white blouse and a steel-gray shirt.

Kanye West recently overhauled Kim Kardashian’s wardrobe, filling her closet with monochromatic, minimalist pieces, and at least one person approves of her style makeover: Jada Pinkett Smith.

The actress stepped out on Sunday in the same backless white Tom Ford dress that Kardashian wore a few months ago.

But she didn’t stop there. Pinkett Smith, who joined her husband and kids at the Toronto International Film Festival, even emulated the reality star’s slicked-back hairstyle and her sultry over-the-shoulder pose. The actress, however, left the zipper over her left hip slightly open.

Kardashian donned the Tom Ford creation with gold ankle-strap heels back in July at the BET Awards, which she attended with West.

The same dress in a different color has been spotted on a number of other stars as well: Jennifer Lawrence wore it in black and Jennifer Lopez sported it in orange.

We’re used to celebs wearing the same dress, but there’s something funny about the fact that Pinkett Smith styled hers so similarly and even kopykatted the hairstyle and pose. You tell us: Who wore the Tom Ford dress better? Vote below!

Celebs See Stars in Hollywood’s Hottest Sweater

Two stars in the same sweater is a coincidence. Three’s a trend. But what would you call 12 of Hollywood’s hottest wearing the same $198 Wildfox “Seeing Stars” sweater — a phenomenon?

Miley Cyrus, Emma Watson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ashlee Simpson are just one-third of the celebs spotted in the brand’s slouchy, distressed sweater emblazoned with stars. The red version was a hit on the Fourth of July, spotted on Cyrus, Alessandra Ambrosio and Jessica Simpson; it’s also beloved by Ashley Tisdale (wearing hers here), Ellie Goulding and Mindy Kaling. Emma Roberts has sported the same black version as Simpson, while Halle Berry owns the olive version seen on Gellar. Finally, Christina Aguilera has been out wearing the white-and-purple version of the same starry style.

We love how each star puts her own spin on the distinctive top — from Cyrus’s pants-free look to Gellar’s maternity style — but we want to know: Who wears her Wildfox sweater best?
