She’s a California girl, but with husband Jerry O’Connell starring in Broadway’s Seminar right now, Rebecca Romijn is swapping her sundresses for snow boots while living in New York. “Rebecca’s got her coats out,” O’Connell told PEOPLE last week. “She’s got her boots out. You can’t be wearing flip-flops in this city.”

But the actor says his wife is just fine with the change. “She likes her New York fashion. It’s a lot different than California.” In fact, he’s hoping the east coast look rubs off on twin daughters Dolly and Charlie, almost 3, too. “I grew up in New York City and I want my girls to have that New York edge,” he said. “I want them to be cool city girls.”

To celebrate that love of the city — and of each other — Romijn and O’Connell renewed their vows on Friday 11/11/11 at 11:11:11 a.m., at the corner of 11th Street and 11th Avenue in Manhattan. They even wore some corduroy — the official fabric of 11/11 — to play into the theme. “It was a little chilly,” O’Connell admitted. “We hung out for five minutes.”

To mark the occasion, O’Connell presented his bride with a Lulu Guinness red Swarovski lips clutch ($1,025), which she held in photos from the ceremony. “I wanted to get her a trinket — jewelry or something — because this is only going to happen once,” O’Connell recalled. “But she had her eyes on that bag. So we renewed our vows, I gave her that little handbag and that’s it.”

SPOIL YOURSELF LIKE A STAR!

Though she looked pretty darn model-y in amethyst Oscar de la Renta at the Hollywood premiere of The Help (left), Jessica Chastain says she can’t compete with the pros.

“There are some dresses that are so beautiful, the detail is so magnificent, but I can’t give them the justice they deserve,” she tells ASOS magazine. “It’s tough because I’m never going to look better than a catwalk model in a dress,” she continues. “I’m not a model, I could never be a model.”

Despite these self-professed shortcomings (she’s only 5-foot-4), the redhead beauty says she still loves fashion. “I always loved [it],” she laughs. “I just couldn’t afford it.”

Flash forward five years, and the star, who also appeared in this year’s The Tree of Life alongside Brad Pitt, has a healthy appetite for the stuff. “I absolutely adore [Louis] Vuitton,” she gushes. “I went to the show last year and it was such a celebration of the female body” — something she says she knows a little about. On the Mississippi set of The Help, “we would work all day, then go and eat because we had to gain weight,” she explains. “All of your clothes get too tight … But there’s something really sensual about being heavier, you feel like a painter’s muse.”

TRACK DOWN STARS’ FAVE ITEMS IN: ‘YOU ASKED, WE FOUND’

Rumer Willis has admitted to raiding mom Demi Moore‘s closet in the past, but there’s one item she can’t ever get away with borrowing: shoes.

“She’s a size-and-a-half smaller than me in shoes, so I can’t wear any of them,” she told PEOPLE recently at Arcade Boutique’s second annual Autumn Party at the London in West Hollywood. “It’s kind of a bummer.”

However, Willis wouldn’t necessarily want to be in her mom’s Jimmy Choos and Christian Louboutins all the time anyway: the actress said she doesn’t wear heels during the day very often. “When I see women walking around L.A. in heels I just wonder how they can do it,” she shared. “I’m baffled.”

That goes for New York City, too, where walking rules. But Willis explained that when she’s spending time in Manhattan, her style changes to fit the city’s vibe. “You almost become this very different person,” she said. “I don’t know what it is.”

But regardless of where she’ll be in the weeks ahead, the big sis to-be has a few staples on her fall shopping list. “A cashmere sweater, definitely a good pair of boots and maybe some looser jeans,” she said. “I can’t do the tight jeans in winter because you have to put long johns underneath them and it never works. But that’s only if you’re in a winter state. California … not so much.”

The What Not to Wear host graciously answered some questions for us recently during the Westfield Style Tour in Los Angeles; here’s what she had to say:

What key pieces should every girl have in her wardrobe for fall?

This season, the key pieces for fall are the leather skirt, the laminated jean, colored fur (or a neutral tone for a more conservative look), the relaxed pant and a bright pop of bold color (be it a coat, skirt or bag!). Accessories play a major role in completing your look, so be sure to add in pin-dot tights, an oversized satchel, brightly colored platforms and a geode necklace.

One of the season’s hottest pieces: the maxi skirt. How do you style it?

The maxi skirt personifies what we call “new bohemian” for fall, along with colored knits, floppy hats, boots and intricate beaded jewelry. Pick and choose how you want to make this look work for your lifestyle. Try pairing a maxi skirt or dress with motorcycle boots, a relaxed cardigan and beaded earrings or with a darker wedge heel and red lipstick for evening.

How can you dress up your basics this season?

Basics are the foundation of every wardrobe, and they are easy to freshen up with the simplest pieces. Pair a black pencil skirt with a geometric-print sweater or colored tights and a wedge bootie. Add flair to the button-down blouse with a fur vest and a statement necklace or cuff bracelet. Don’t be afraid to take what’s already in your wardrobe and mix it up with affordable, on-trend pieces.

Is there such thing as too many boots? What styles do you recommend keeping on hand?

You can never have too many boots! I’m loving the lace-up wedge bootie. They are the new boot to pair with everything from a skinny jean to a flowy dress and are coming in every height from conservative to sky high. Black ankle booties and the motorcycle boot are also two must-haves.

Looking ahead, what color coats do you recommend for winter?

Statement coats with a “ladylike flair” were big for fall, but they can appear overwhelming for some shoppers. If bright yellow or green isn’t for you, then try a neutral tone wool coat that emphasizes the waist and add a brightly colored bag or colored faux fur stole. Another option is a colored leather jacket … it’s the perfect layering piece for fall without retreating to the reliable black.

Celebs have always looked to French label Isabel Marant for a boho take on casual dressing — hits from the past include ankle wrap “Gava” pumps and go-with-everything suede booties — but this week, the stars can’t get enough of the brand’s tribal-print separates!

On Sunday, Cheryl Cole paired $425 printed corduroy “Silo” skinnies with a cropped boucle jacket for a stylish jaunt through LAX. The next day, mama-to-be Hilary Duff topped the brand’s $1,170 georgette dress with a sculpted blazer for a visit to Good Morning America. Later that same day, Nicole Richie sported a pair of $660 “Renell” jeans with gladiator booties and all-black basics while out in L.A.

In the four years since taking top honors on season 4 of Project Runway, Christian Siriano has kept himself busy, building a veritable fashion empire.

His latest venture, an expanded collection for Payless ShoeSource, is an unexpected one for a designer best known for frothy and “fierce” creations, but Siriano is also a shrewd salesman.

“The new expanded collection, when we think about it, is for every customer that walks in the store,” he told PEOPLE at a Christian Siriano for Payless in-store event. “You’re like, ‘Okay, what is the mom wearing to work? What does the daughter want to buy?’”

And with recent coups including dressing Sarah Hyland and Runway mentor Heidi Klum for the 2011 Emmy Awards, Siriano’s business savvy also applies to cultivating celebrity relationships. Working with Modern Family star Hyland “made sense for me because Sarah is such a young, new, beautiful actress,” he explained. “I think she really needed a moment.” And designing for Klum is always a no-brainer. “I would do anything for her. She can call me tomorrow and I’d make something.”

However, it was tweaking a style for Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck perfume ads that proved to be the most lucrative. “I have orders all day long on that dress,” he says of the blushy, tulle confection, she wears in the shot. “We can’t make them fast enough.”

Though autumn doesn’t seem like it’s ready to arrive just yet, the season’s clothes certainly have — and we’re falling hard. Mad Men may not be on the air at the moment, but that sexy ’60s style lives on thanks to Banana Republic’s new line of clothes, inspired by the Joan Harrises and Peggy Olsons of the past.

And while we’ve found ourselves going “mad” for the line, it appears Hollywood has, too! Gwen Stefani stepped out earlier this month in the black lace top ($45), which 90210 star Jessica Stroup dressed up for an event over the summer. Giuliana Rancic wore the same blouse in gold for a taping of E! News, too.

“I love to do beautiful and sexy pictures,” Irina Shayk tells PEOPLE. “And I love Rampage because it has everything.” Hence the perfect style marriage: Sports Illustrated swimsuit stunner Irina Shayk starring in Rampage’s fall 2011 campaign.

The supermodel, who follows in the footsteps of former Rampage faces Gisele Bündchen, Bar Refaeli and Petra Nemcova, was shot in New York City by photographer Gilles Bensimon; her photos will debut in fashion and lifestyle magazines this fall.

Shayk tells PEOPLE that she loves Rampage’s “shoes, accessories [and] sexy dresses. You can wear Rampage from day to night by throwing on a blazer, some great high heels and a fun necklace.”

And not surprisingly, the looks she modeled make up her fall fashion wish list, as well. “Definitely a Rampage sexy black dress because without a black dress you can’t go anywhere,” she says of her must-have. “Also, it’s kind of warm during the fall in New York so a cool leather jacket, too.”

Shayk credits her work with Sports Illustrated for opening doors to such fashion campaigns. “To be on the cover of Sports Illustrated … it’s a dream come true,” she shares. “It gives you so much visibility … so many models went on to do movies after Sports Illustrated and look, now I’m doing a Rampage campaign so it’s a great thing!”

And though she enjoyed modeling dresses and jeans for the brand, she still loves her skimpy swimwear. When asked what’s more fun to model — jeans or bikinis — she jokes, “I think you know the answer already since I’ve been doing Sports Illustrated for five years!” Find Rampage‘s fall offerings in department stores this season.

MEET HOLLYWOOD’S MOST FASHIONABLE FRIENDS

In honor of its overhaul, Esprit is enlisting the help of two gorgeous women to celebrate its new look and identity. The brand recently announced that models Gisele Bündchen and Erin Wasson are the new faces of the line’s fall campaign, which launches next month.

“Using Erin and Gisele has really elevated the brand,” John Gunn, continental president of Esprit North America, tells WWD. “We were a little disjointed between how our stores looked and how the product and marketing looked. We were trying to go after the 28- to 34-year-old woman and showing 18-year-olds in ads.” He says the new target consumer is a woman who’s “forever 30.”

The new models bring years of stylish experience to the table: supermodel Bündchen worked the camera for H&M and took a boyish turn with Balenciaga, among other projects, while Wasson designs her own line, Erin Wasson x RVCA, and served as Justin Timberlake’s sidekick at William Rast. Tell us: What do you think of Bündchen and Wasson as the new faces of Esprit?

SUMMER’S BEST TRENDS TO WEAR NOW

Cozy British couple? Or megawatt movie stars? Ryan Reynolds and model-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley cuddle up in new ads for British brand Marks & Spencer‘s autumn 2011 Autograph collection, which debuts Thursday.

Shot by BAFTA awards photographer Greg Williams at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, the photos depict the couple walking the streets in the brand’s warm fall clothes.

“I was thrilled when M&S asked me to be in their campaign,” Reynolds said in a statement. “I’m from Canada and grew up with the M&S brand. Going into an M&S store with my family or friends always gives me a beautiful pang of nostalgia.”

“I feel proud to be associated with a British high street favourite that holds fond memories for so many people,” Huntington-Whiteley added. “The [Autograph] collection is sophisticated, elegant and effortless which I hope to embody in my own personal style.”

Other Marks & Spencer spokespeople include models Twiggy, David Gandy and Lisa Snowdon and former footballer Jamie Redknapp.

Target’s biggest designer partnership to date — its collaboration with Missoni — is launching in mere days. Going live in Target stores and on target.com on Sept. 13, with an early preview in New York City on Fashion’s Night Out, Sept. 8, it features more than 400 pieces for women, men, children and home — and is arguably one of the most hotly anticipated collaborations yet.

So what can you expect from Missoni for Target? Aside from the classic patterned knits, look out for men’s ties, bowls and platters for the home and even a bicycle. Items range in price from $2.99 to $599.

In the clip above, Margherita Maccapani Missoni, daughter of creative director Angela, talks about the “very big” collaboration as well as the campaign, which channeled Italian movies of the 1960s, the era when Missoni became famous outside of Italy.

The brand itself, started in Margherita’s grandparents’ basement, is still family owned today. “I think that’s very much part of who we are really, and the image the public has of us,” she says.

CAN YOU GUESS THE STAR BARGAIN?

It’s been three years since Avril Lavigne introduced her Abbey Dawn clothing line, but lately, the singer is breathing new life into the rock ‘n’ roll-themed collection — and plans to show off her latest creations next month at New York Fashion Week.

“I’ve done a fashion show there before and it’s, like, kind of a really big deal,” she told PEOPLE at the MAGIC Abbey Dawn after-party at PURE Nightclub at Caesars Palace on Tuesday. “I’m on tour in Europe but I made sure I can do it. I have two hours to do it, then I leave. I fly for like 24 hours but its really important and I’m super honored.”

Though Lavigne will be in a serious time crunch, she said she’s particularly pumped about showing off her newest pieces. “Heels, footwear. And now I have men’s stuff so it feels complete,” she shared. “It’s my brand, it’s my baby. It’s the first time its a full collection of everything, outside of clothing. There are so many different categories.”

With a moniker referring to a nickname Lavigne had as a child, the line is “designed for girls who want to express themselves with fashion,” she says. “It’s something I’m really proud of. It’s a lot of fun having a clothing line.”
