What Makes This Skirt So Amazing? (Besides the Fact That It's $36!)

Feb/17/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

Yes, we love the price of the skirt (15% when you enter STYLE15 at checkout). But that’s not the only reason it’s hanging in editors’ closets. Beyond the cost, we’re into the snakeskin-embossed faux leather pencil skirt because it acts like shapewear and sort of sucks everything in. Watch to find out why else this skirt is just so great.

To recap: The skirt’s affordable. It’s universally flattering (take it from this editor who hates her hips and thighs and was hesitant to appear on camera in such a slim-fitting silhouette … and then practically refused to take the thing off once she’d tried it on and realized how good she looked in it). It’s comfortable and breathable — yes, even in the middle of summer thanks to the fact that it’s vegan leather. And it’s just the right mix of polished and sexy, making it perfect for work and nights out.

All in all, we’d say it’s the perfect skirt, wouldn’t you?

Looking for Valentine's Day Gifts That Are the Opposite of Cheesy?

Feb/03/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

We’re guessing the answer to that question is either “yes” or “I’m not, but my boyfriend/husband is … or at least he ought to be.” Well, look no further. We found a jewelry collection that’s romantic and sweet, no cheese. Order the necklace, bangle or ring for yourself — or leave this link up on his computer screen as a not-at-all subtle hint.

Editors here first discovered these while at an event for the jewelry brand Sarah Chloe, and we immediately knew we had to share them with you all. And as always, we’re hooking you up with a 15 percent discount. Just enter STYLE15 at checkout if you’re a first-time Joyus shopper (or you know, let your guy know to use the code).

Happy shopping and happier Valentine’s Day!

What Can You Get for $70? Oh, Just This Chic, Cozy Winter Jacket

Jan/13/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

No, that’s not a typo. The jacket in the video below (which comes in cream, black and gray) really does cost 70 bucks with our exclusive discount code (enter STYLE15 at checkout). Check it out and scroll down to read all the reasons we love it.

So, here’s why this Olivaceous topper earned a spot in our closets:

1. It’s actually really warm. We’re used to wallet-friendly jackets being — how do we put this? — totally crappy and inefficient when it comes to protecting us from the elements. We’ve been wearing this one during this particularly bad N.Y.C. winter and we’ve got no complaints.

2. Stains somehow don’t show up on this jacket. Not even on the cream-colored one. Thank the textured bouclé material for that.

3. Two words: universally flattering.

4. You can wear it unzipped and with the collar folded down over a dress at work if you’re chilly and it doesn’t look like you’re all bundled up. But rather, the jacket almost passes for a chunky blazer.

5. Oh, did we mention? The jacket costs 70 bucks. Get one here before it sells out.

Meet the Moto-Sweatshirt (It's a Real Thing and Every Woman Should Own One)

Dec/30/2013 at 06:00 AM ET

Two trends have been everywhere this year: zip-up leather toppers (see: here, here and here) and fancy sweatshirts (see: here, here and every staffer at People StyleWatch on a Friday). Well, those two of-the-moment tops have combined forces to create the moto-sweatshirt — and we might never take it off.

As always, if you’re a first-time Joyus shopper and you enter STYLE15 at checkout, you can get this Blank NYC jacket for 83 bucks.

The story in the video (about this editor spotting a woman on the subway platform wearing this zip-up, running over to her and asking where she got it) is totally true. It was love at first sight — and our obsession hasn’t waned since.

We’re wearing ours with black pencil skirts and tucked-in tees, as well as on the weekends with jeans. And the design fitted enough that you can wear it under a faux fur vest or a warm winter jacket.

If you were lucky enough to be gifted cash over the holidays, we’d highly recommend unloading some of it on this Blank NYC jacket-meets-sweatshirt. You’ll wear it all winter and through this spring. Then when you break out the top again next fall and realize it’s a classic enough style that it’ll never go out of fashion, you’ll be so glad you ordered one.

You’ve seen some amazing solo style moments this weekend (have you weighed in on this faceoff yet?). Now it’s time to talk about the couples whose relationships hit a fashion high note.

If you’re going to debut your boyfriend to the world, it’s important to look good while doing so. And Eva Longoria definitely got the memo, going classically chic with her new beau Jose “Pepe” Antonio Baston at the Museo Jumex Opening dinner at Case De La Bola in Mexico City Friday. Longoria selected a colorblock second-skin stunner for the occasion, while Baston looked dapper in a navy suit. We can’t wait for more red carpet moments from these two.
