Why Is Victoria Beckham Wearing Flats?

Victoria Beckham in FlatsFame

It’s a photograph we never thought we’d see: fashion maven Victoria Beckham in flats. But it’s happened; the star was spotted in Hollywood this week without her signature stilettos, opting instead for a pair of plain black flats.

Why the change? A rep for the designer had no comment, but a source confirms to PEOPLE that Beckham must wear flats as she recovers from a slipped disc in her back. So will she be back in heels in time for New York Fashion Week? Only time will tell.

“She’ll have to see how she feels,” the source tells PEOPLE. “Heels will put added pressure on the damaged area but it’s healing well, so it may not be an issue in another couple weeks.”

Regardless, Beckham still looks glam, and fans are wishing the new mom a speedy recovery. “Thank u for your kind messages,” she said in reply on Twitter last week. “I’m feeling much better and enjoying every precious minute with baby Harper, I’m so in love. X VB.”

Mark, David, Kellan: Who’s Sexiest in His Skivvies?

Summer may be winding down, but Mark Wahlberg is raising temperatures (again!) with the news that he’s the latest brand ambassador for fashion label PRVCY. According to E!, the former Calvin Klein model will first promote PRVCY’s denim, eventually expanding into other areas of menswear, including, you guessed it, underwear.

Though it sounds like Wahlberg will be keeping his pants on for this latest endorsement deal, we wouldn’t mind seeing the star in his boxer briefs once again — after all, he did make us blush with his CK campaign in 1992. But this time around, he’d have competition: Kellan Lutz has since replaced him at CK, and David Beckham not only has those those seductive Emporio Armani underwear ads, but his own line of bodywear launching soon at H&M, as well.

All three stars look studly stripped down, but we want to know which one you find hottest.

Victoria Beckham’s Off-Duty Uniform: A Bikini

New mom Victoria Beckham may oversee a fashion empire, but that doesn’t mean she dresses up for work.

“When I’m here in London, which is for about a week every month it’s really, really full-on,” she says in the autumn/winter issue of ELLE Collections. When the designer is in the U.S., where husband David Beckham plays soccer for the Los Angeles Galaxy, her look is decidedly less formal. “I use Skype to talk with my team,” she says, “usually wearing either a dressing gown or a bikini.”

And while we rarely see the style icon sans trademark heels and sunglasses, Beckham insists her style is low maintenance. Of shopping sprees: “I just don’t have the time,” she says. “I get a lot of clothes on Net-a-Porter and I wear my own stuff.” Speaking of her stuff, could a collection of swimwear be next?

Get Girly in Victoria Beckham’s New Line of Dresses

While creating her new dress line, Victoria by Victoria Beckham, the megstar informed her staffers that she was pregnant. “One of my team said, ‘It would be funny if you found out you were having a girl,’” she recalls to WWD. “Because this is the most girly collection I’ve ever created.” Priced primarily from $550 to $900, the colorful, ’60s-esque line was inspired by the cartoon character Emily the Strange, a cat-loving teen with a cute-meets-chic sense of style. “These are the kind of dresses I’ve been searching for,” Beckham says. “The perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through the night.” And while creating the looks, she kept the average customer in mind. “I’m opening these designs to women and girls of all different shapes and sizes, people who maybe want something less tight and clingy and structured,” Beckham explains, contrasting the dresses to her current Victoria Beckham collection. “You can wear them with a pair of flats or a pair of heels and they look great.” Expect to see the mom-to-be out promoting her looks, too; she tells WWD she plans on “making quite a fuss when this launches at retail” for spring/summer 2012.

24 Hour Trend Alert:Thigh-High Slits

Thighs the Limit

It seems that thigh’s the limit these days! In a span of 24 hours, at three very different fêtes, Carrie Underwood, Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham dared to bare in the same revealing silhouette. Playing by the rules in Sin City, the country singer flashed her sinewy gams in a scarlet red beaded Edition by Georges Chakra gown, Coomi earrings and a metallic clutch and heels by Rene Caovilla at Monday’s American Country Awards. That same night in N.Y.C., Angelina flashed some leg in a winter white Atelier Versace wrap dress that highlighted her limbs and ample décolletage. The following evening, across the pond, Designer Brand of the Year nominee, Beckham, left little to the imagination in a slitted kimono gown of her design at the British Fashion Awards. We say, if you’ve got it flaunt it, but we want to know what you think! Tell us: What’s your take on Hollywood’s latest hem-raising trend? Justine Harman

Victoria Beckham Prefers Men With No Clothes On

Victoria Beckham Prefers Men With No Clothes OnPaul Hackett/Landov

With one of the world’s hottest men as her husband, designing suits for the opposite sex may seem like a logical next step for Victoria Beckham, but the designer begs to differ. “I’m not really that interested, at the moment, in men’s clothes,” Posh told the International Herald Tribune‘s fashion editor Suzy Menkes at the 10th anniversary of the publication’s Heritage Luxury Conference in London, before admitting that yes, men do in fact look better with their clothes off. Beckham, who has successfully launched five lines since 2009 and is currently up for a British Fashion Award, says creating clothes for the opposite sex would be difficult. “How on earth, as a male, do you design dresses for women?” she said. “Because how I work is I actually put the dresses on myself. And I won’t disclose any of their answers but quite a few of my male friends have actually said they do put the dresses on themselves.” And just in case Posh changes her mind and does decide to venture into menswear, she knows husband David Beckham would be the perfect male mannequin. But for now, she said, his role is to just look good, because “that’s what he does.” For the full interview, check out nytimes.com. –Jessie Goldberg

Victoria Beckham’s Fashion Freak-Outs: Cropped Tops and Big Shoulders

Frazer Harrison/Getty

With her coveted dresses, chic accessories and on-trend denim line, Victoria Beckham is quickly becoming a defining force in the fashion world—but there are some trends that you’ll never see her embrace. “I do not like these big shoulders,” she reveals to WWD. And just in case we needed a reminder that her midriff-baring Spice Girls days are long behind her? “I’m slightly freaked out by cropped tops. I think when you get above the age of about seven, you should not do that.” And with a loyal fan base that includes A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and Iman, it’s clear that Posh is doing more than a few things right. But instead of resting on her recent style successes, the self-described perfectionist is instead busy planning the future of her fashion label. “I would love to have e-commerce. That’s something that I’m really researching, doing my homework [on],” she tells WWD “Having my own store would be great,” she says. “Would it be London? Would it be New York? I don’t know. New York sounds quite fabulous.” –Jessie Goldberg
