Kim Kardashian might be “very calm” in the final days before her wedding, but she has her celebrity friends to thank for that. After the bride-to-be chatted and posed with model pal Tyra Banks on Sunday at the 2011 Do Something Awards in Los Angeles, Banks revealed to PEOPLE that she offered Kardashian some guidance on wedding dress choices.

“I gave [Kim] the advice of going with a silhouette that the world isn’t used to seeing her in,” Banks said, “So we’ll see.” As for exactly how Kardashian is going to look in her Vera Wang gown on her wedding day, it seems she and her close pals already have a pretty good idea based on photos from some elaborate fittings. “What she showed me was so beautiful,” Banks, who wore a color-block jumpsuit by her seamstress Claudia Díaz, told PEOPLE. “It’s interesting because they were pictures from a fitting, but it actually looked like the wedding, like her hair was done. So it was like a real almost dress rehearsal and she looked absolutely beautiful.”

Banks, who took home the Do Something Style Award for promoting healthy body image, was invited to Kardashian’s wedding, but from the sounds of it, she doesn’t need to shop for a gift. When asked what she’d consider getting for the bride who has everything, she replied, “Nothing! A kiss and a congratulations.”

Since launching her new style site typeF.com last month, Tyra Banks has been busy dishing on trends, gushing over star looks and filming fashion-filled shorts, aptly called “Fa-Fa-Fa Fashion,” with pal André Leon Talley. The America’s Next Top Model judges offer their expert advice on dressing up items like trench coats and little black dresses. In this exclusive sneak peek at the latest edition, going up on Tuesday morning, it’s all about jumpsuits. “OK, this jumpsuit thing … it’s not going away and thank god it’s not going away because I’m obsessed with it,” Banks says in the clip above. Tyra Banks has worked the runway in some of the world’s most fabulous fashion, but deep down inside, she says she’s actually not a haute couture girl. The model-turned-mogul — and current business student — tells New York that all the years spent doing fittings for designer gowns actually made her a little, well, nervous. “I always still felt intimidated,” she tells the magazine. “Karl Lagerfeld is dressing me, Yves Saint Laurent is like smoothing my hem or something, and I felt like a little teenage girl and that these amazing designers were around me and that they were like these Greek gods. So I knew it wasn’t my truth. Although I was, like, flattered and like, ‘Oh, this is amazing!’” But the America’s Next Top Model host has still managed to start a few trends; for instance, the meat dress phenomenon, which happened in an ANTM challenge months before Lady Gaga wore her version to the Video Music Awards. “You know I never saw it, I just read about it,” Banks explains, saying she never thought Gaga stole the idea from the show. “Lady Gaga is such an artist that I doubt that she was looking at Top Model or her stylist was looking at Top Model and saying, ‘We should do it.’ I think they just did it and we just happened to do it first.” For more with Banks, check out nymag.com. –Kim Peiffer

The TV personality  has re-signed with her first modeling agency, IMG, and this time around, she is bringing her own company, Bankable Enterprises, into the mix. “The last time I was with IMG, I was set on taking on the modeling world in the high fashion and commercial sectors,“ says Banks in a release. “Now I’m dreaming even bigger but this time for my company as well. She’s a size 14 and fierce: Meet Sheridan Watson, the 17-year-old winner of Tyra Banks’ newest modeling competition, the Fiercely Real Teen Model Search. “Since cycle 1, the teen fans of America’s Next Top Model have written me letters and have approached me…asking me ‘Tyra, when are you going to do a cycle for teens?’” Banks tells PEOPLE. So this year, Banks launched the first ever plus-size teen modeling search, which invited girls between ages of 13 and 19 who wear a dress size between 12 and 20 to compete for a contract with Wilhelmina Models and the cover of Banks’ MagaLine Tyra: Beauty Inside & Out. As the winner, “I’m still waiting for it all to hit me,” says the New Jersey-based Watson. “Growing up it was like modeling was not an appropriate profession for someone my size because I’ve always been curvy.” Now, she says, “I know it is possible.” In addition to expanding “the narrow definitions of what’s considered beautiful,” Banks — who will continue to host this contest annually on her site tyra.com — says she’s looking to redefine the term plus-size. “The term plus-sized is so misleading so I’m renaming it Fiercely Real,” explains Banks. “What’s considered plus-sized in the fashion industry is actually average in the real world. Today, Tyra Banks announced her newest challenge to the modeling market: her first-ever plus-sized modeling competition for teens. Dubbed Tyra’s Fiercely Real Teen Model Search, the contest will hunt for curvy catwalk contenders aged 13-19 and between 5′ 9″ and 6′ 1″. For weeks supermodel Tyra Banks has been getting fans excited about her plan to take out her hair extensions and go totally weave-free on her talk show. When we first spotted Christina Aguilera on a photoshoot with wild hair, we chalked it up to an over-the-top editorial look. But when Tyra Banks hit the streets of N.Y.C. to tape her show with a bevy of gorgeous models in perfectly crimped hair, our worst suspicions were confirmed — along with pegged jeans and neon colors, the ’80s revival is bringing back crimped hair. We retired our crimping irons with our scunchies and fingerless lace gloves a long time ago, but considering that we’ve even seen this trend on the haute couture runways of Paris, we might not have a choice! Last night’s Fashion Rocks concert gave celebs a chance to strutt their stuff in the mist of New York’s Fashion Week — and right before the VMA’s this weekend. Avril Lavigne and Tyra Banks used the opportunity to make a statement with their hair. Known for her punk-rock pink highlights, the petite Avril combed her long tresses back into a two-toned puff. Tyra added to her supermodel height, twisting up her chestnut locks into a triple ring bun. Will we see more outrageoous hairdos on Sunday night? Hope so! Tyra Banks never holds back on the red carpet — over-the-top gowns with dramatic hair and makeup have become the daytime diva’s signature look. But even knowing that, Tyra’s gown at the 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Show last Friday made us look twice. Not only did the custom-made Roberto Cavalli gown require handlers to help Tyra walk down the red carpet, but we cannot figure out how she sat down in it! Today the Tyra Banks Show was devoted Tyra’s PEOPLE magazine cover story from a couple of week’s back (You Call This Fat?). That story received an amazing response and inspired Tyra to launch her So What?! campaign to help empower women everywhere to feel good about their bodies. In this video clip, she encourages three audience members (all donning the same red leotard that Tyra wore on our cover) to say “So What?” to their own weight-related issues.
