As a mom to two kids, reality show star, author and budding children’s designer, Tori Spelling has her well-manicured hands full — but the beauty-maven took a little time out recently to talk with PEOPLE TV about getting pretty. The actress, who recently teamed up with Q-Tips and celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal to promote the brand’s new vanity packs sat down with us at Macy’s in Manhattan to share her own top beauty tips. And her budget-friendly beauty lesson number one might surprise you. “People usually think that celebrities use high-price items, big brands, and I don’t think that is necessary,” she says. “To be honest, my favorite mascara is Maybelline.” And it’s that love of a beauty bargain that fits right in with her new role. On of her favorite looks, she reveals, is “to put on a little bit of eyeliner and then smudge it out and get that whole smudgy, smoky look, and now you can do it with Q-Tips. You don’t need all of those make-up brushes. I used to clutter my counter with all of those make-up brushes and you can go right into it. It’s the perfect beauty solution.” Watch the video to hear more from Tori — including her favorite fashion obsessions. What's Hot Now
Tori Spelling was wearing fierce Christian Louboutin heels and jewels by H. Stern, so when the new mom arrived to host the Out 100 Awards this month, no one would have guessed that the chic strapless purple frock she was wearing cost just $148 at French Connection. “I don’t feel like you have to be decked in designer from head to toe to look great,” the Inn Love star told PEOPLE. “I like to accessorize with one expensive piece mixed with one less expensive piece, maybe something vintage to pull the whole look together. I’m kind of an eclectic shopper!” Now that’s a shopping philosophy that we can get behind! Buy the strapless dress for yourself at fcusbymail.com.
Chalk it up to tent dresses, oversize tunics, empire waists and the other voluminous fashion trends of this year, but Tori Spelling has made it almost to the end of her pregnancy without switching to maternity wear. We’ve gotten the giggles over her endless fashion faceoffs with non-pregnant stars (like Mena Suvari and Molly Sims), but it is remarkable! Sure, Tori started out as a tiny size two so she had a few sizes to expand into, but she can’t be alone in her decision to skip the maternity section. Will other pregnant stars like Naomi Watts and Salma Hayek follow her lead? Will the rest of us be mistaken for being pregnant in our billowing sundresses?
Expecting or not, everyone looks good in this paillette-topped Alice+Olivia bubble dress. Get your own in yellow at nordstrom.com, $295.

Tori’s maternity style just keeps evolving — remember the hippy to vampy transformation? — and the highlight of her new sporty look is her adorable LittleShowOff pregnant icon tank. In fact, the whole LittleShowOff maternitee line is super cute and hip. Tori’s shirt can be bought here in either red or blue, $34 — and it turns out, Marcia Cross and Gwyneth Paltrow own the same one! Other favorites are The Future Lies Within and No Smoking! Breathing for 2. What do you think of Tori’s new sporty look?

I grew up in Texas like Ashlee, and I dote on my pug like Tori — it evens turns out that I own the same adorable paisley Free People velvet tunics as they do. But, that (and my non-celeb status) is where the similarities end. Both Ashlee and Tori treat this piece like a dress, just wearing it over tights — while I pair mine with leggings or jeans, because it is simply too short to wear with stockings! If I bent over in my dress without something very opaque on underneath, I would risk some very indecent exposure. My hat off to these ladies if they have figured out something about keeping covered in a micro-mini that I haven’t (and kudos to Tori for not just sticking to maternity wear). This is a whole new dimension of super-short hemlines. Tell us: Would you wear a dress this short without pants? Who wears it better: Ashlee or Tori? — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

We’ve seen Tori switch up her maternity style from hippy to vampy, but now she’s testing out baby-like accessories — this time, taking her dog out for a spin in a stroller! While out walking with husband Dean McDermott and two other pooches (who walked on the ground), Tori pushed her pug Mimi La Rue in a mesh-sided stroller. Is the pug too pooped to trot or is Tori feeling out what being a mommy is like? Guess she’ll find out soon enough when her baby boy arrives in the new year.
Many women struggle to maintain their signature style during their pregnancies, but Tori Spelling seems to be having a full-blown identity crisis. She’s already abandoned her hippy-style, featuring pigtails and paisley smocks, for a look more befitting a Vegas showgirl than a new mom — a sheer, rhinestone-laden minidress with sparkly heels. We’re all for looking sexy and feeling good while expecting, but Tori might want to take a few tips on how to do it from ladies like Heidi Klum or Maggie Gyllenhaal. Tell us: What do you think of Tori’s latest look? Is she a hot mama or in need of a cool new style?
