It may be New York Fashion Week, but Van Cleef & Arpels kicked it off with “Une Journee a Paris,” a night-to-remember party in the Big Apple. Showcasing their collection of “haute” jewelry, the party featured a fashion show styled by Annabel Tollman (stylist to stars such as Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Zeta Jones) and performances by the legendary Lido cabaret dancers (topless, wearing white fur and glittery blue costumes) and French pop-punk princesses The Plastiscines. Stars like Demi Moore, Ashley Olsen and Mischa Barton partied along with a capacity crowd of almost 1200 people! And what brought out a Chanel-clad Sarah Michelle Gellar? She told PEOPLE that not only was she on the host committee for the evening, but Van Cleef & Arpels “are the ultimate! Their jewelry is every girl’s fantasy. And I love the Paris theme.” Diamonds, Paris, fashion — what’s not to like?

With a string quartet, legions of kilt-wearing bagpipers, and one Hollywood star, the annual summer sale at London super store Harrod’s opened in regal style. Sarah Michelle Gellar arrived by a horse-drawn carriage to the legendary store, showing off her Jasmine Di Milo satin romper. Once inside, the slasher-film star welcomed the bustling crowd of shop-a-holics into the store. “This is a dream come true. I don’t know about you, but I love shopping,” Gellar said to the crowd with Harrod’s Chairman, Mohammed Al Fayed by her side. Sarah Michelle led the charge of shoppers through the bargain-laden aisles before heading up to the Georgian Restaurant on the 4th floor. Gellar’s presence puts her among the star-studded list of glamorous store-openers including Eva Longoria, Christina Aguilera, and Victoria Beckham. But some people weren’t there for the sales; they just wanted to get a glimpse of their favorite vampire killer. “I’m a huge Buffy fan, I can care less about the store,” said Sienna Ali, 20, who ditched work at a real estate firm to get a glimpse of Gellar.

– SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR, spending her day shopping in Beverly Hills. The actress stopped into Christian Louboutin where she stepped into a pair of sexy shoes and walked out with a shopping bag!

– PAULA ABDUL, loading up on cosmetics during a shopping trip to Barneys Beverly Hills. The Hey Paula star left with four makeup brushes by T. LeClerc as well as a Plaisir Lip Pencil. Abdul also bought multiple Serge Lutens products, including some foundation, mascara and various lipstick colors. She also left smelling nice, buying Serge Lutens fragrances in Gris Clair, Clair de Musc and Un Bois Vanille.

– MARIA SHRIVER, doing a bit of shopping for her governor husband, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. Browsing the men’s section at Ron Robinson S2 in Fred Segal Melrose, Shriver found a “True Love and False Idols” brand t-shirt emblazoned with the message: ‘Welcome 2 California” and a buff male bod with a split face: one-half was the Terminator and the other was Conan the Barbarian. Think he’ll wear it?

– SHANNA MOAKLER, browsing in Fred Segal Fun in Santa Monica with a female friend. During her spree, the former Dancing With the Stars contestant picked up some casual wear including Chip and Pepper jeans and a pair of jeans from VICTORIA BECKHAM’s new denim line.

– While hanging in downtown New York with her husband, Len, and daughter, Lily, 8, KATE BECKINSALE did some damage at the Calvin Klein Underwear store. Less racy was her trip into the Scholastic store with Lily.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has been laying relatively low recently, so we were thrilled to see her making the scene at the Tribeca Film Festival looking so stylish. Her week kicked off with a Chanel dinner, where she was the epitome of chic in her little black dress (by Chanel, of course) with jewels from the house’s fine jewelry collection. The next night, she hit the red carpet in support of her new film, Suburban Girl, in a colorblocked Chloe dress and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. as arm candy. Two nights later, she went for a simple and sexy Donna Karan sheath in trendy cobalt blue at the Festival’s premiere of The Air I Breathe. We hope this is only the beginning of seeing Sarah Michelle back on the red carpet — we can only watch our Buffy DVDs so many times!
