When Prabal Gurung set out to make beautiful, well-made clothes seven seasons ago, he never imagined he’d garner attention from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Amanda Seyfried. “There are so many options out there, and for [SJP] to choose mine, it’s incredible,” he told InStyle.com at a celebration of the New York Times‘s “50 Photographs” collection in Manhattan on Wednesday.

And while early Prabal adopters included Zoe Saldana and Demi Moore, it’s Hollywood’s continued support that leaves the designer humbled. “I really feel grateful and amazed,” he gushed. “I hope that in 20 or 30 years, I still feel as excited about it. Not just [Parker], but with any girl who chooses my clothes.”

As for Amanda Seyfried, the ‘It’ girl became a convert after seeing the designer’s spring 2012 collection during New York Fashion Week — even plucking a look off the runway for the L.A. premiere of In Time. “I love seeing how the girls personalize a runway look and really make it their own,” he tells PEOPLE of Seyfried, who added a belt and patent Mary Janes to his Rorschach-like frock (far right) recently. “It’s not hard for Amanda to light up a carpet, but the way she looked at the In Time premiere was flawless. Those are the kinds of moments that inspire a designer.”

First recognized by the Centers for Disease Control in 1981, AIDS has plagued our world for 30 years now. To draw attention to the tragic anniversary — and reignite support for the cause — designer Kenneth Cole, chairman of amfAR, partnered with MTV International’s Staying Alive Foundation to reinterpret the classic red AIDS ribbon.

Cole’s double ribbon is available now on Gilt.com, and 100 percent of net profits will benefit AWEARNESS, the Kenneth Cole Foundation, in support of the Staying Alive Foundation and amfAR. And to promote the pin, a slew of celebrities — including Sarah Jessica Parker and Cyndi Lauper — recently filmed a PSA for the cause (above), urging people to continue supporting AIDS and HIV research.

In conjunction with the ribbon’s release, actress Rose McGowan, an amfAR supporter, curated a sale on Gilt.com, which goes live at noon on Friday. “I think it’s an incredibly important and still very timely organization,” McGowan, who describes herself as a “mood dresser,” tells Gilt.com of amfAR. “The need for aid and awareness doesn’t stop. I think Kenneth Cole is amazing for doing this. Regardless of whether you buy Kenneth’s clothing or not, it’s amazing the work he’s done for the cause.”

Sarah Jessica Parker‘s sartorial choices are usually spot-on, but sometimes even the most flawless fashionista has a miss. That’s what appears to have happened to the I Don’t Know How She Does It star on Wednesday during an interview at a ladies luncheon at the Palladium in Melbourne, Australia.

Wearing a bronze Chanel tweed dress and Manolo Blahnik pumps, according to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, Parker chose to accessorize with a Philip Treacy hat that, while a work of art, possibly overwhelmed her small stature. Treacy, a famed British milliner, was responsible for several hats at the royal wedding in April, and recently helped elect the Duchess of Cambridge as the U.K.’s best-dressed star.

Down Under to support her latest film and celebrate the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Parker has stayed dependably stylish during this latest press tour — just as she did while promoting the movie throughout the U.S. and Europe earlier this year. Leopard is one of fall’s hottest trends, but less-fearless fashionistas have been sneaking it in with bags and belts. Not so these stars, who have committed full-out to the trend, sporting it in style with Current/Elliott’s red-hot “Leopard Stiletto” jeans.

The skinny style, which retails for $198, comes in two washes, a camel and a faded gray, which render the bold-print neutral enough to pair with a variety of looks. VOTE ON MORE STAR STYLE IN FASHION FACEOFF

We do know how she does it: with killer fashion instincts, a delicate frame and a very bright smile. Sarah Jessica Parker has spent the week promoting her new film, I Don’t Know How She Does It, in Moscow and London, looking super stylish along the way.

On Sunday, Parker visited Moscow’s Manolo Blahnik store (so Carrie Bradshaw of her!) in a charming, strapless white Chanel dress trimmed with red-and-pink accents. Wednesday, she surfaced in London in a pink Chanel Haute Couture jacket with embroidered sleeves (topped off with major bun); that same day, she sported a flowing taupe frock covered up with a cropped yellow blazer, also by Chanel.

But the high fashion didn’t stop there: Parker continued her London visit Wednesday in a black-and-white-striped dress by Salvatore Ferragamo covered up with a L’Agence coat. And Thursday, the sunny star popped up at a press event in Prabal Gurung; she also wore one of his dresses over the weekend to promote the film in Moscow.

With so much style — including a dramatic red caped gown worn to another presentation in Moscow last weekend — we have to ask: which of Parker’s premiere looks is your favorite?

WEIGH IN ON STAR STYLE IN ‘FASHION FACEOFF’

Want to walk a mile in Sarah Jessica Parker‘s shoes? You can (though it might hurt!). The actress, along with other stylish stars like Sienna Miller, Eva Green, Vivienne Westwood and Colin Firth, is offering up some fancy kicks for the Small Steps Project, a charity founded by former celebrity journalist Amy Hanson, Vogue U.K. reports.

The auction will kick off at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on Oct. 12; afterward, an online auction will live on eBay for 10 days. In addition to SJP and Miller, other A-listers including Helen Mirren, Kristin Davis, Helena Christensen and Rachel Weisz will be selling their soles as well. You can even score Boy George’s ponyskin desert boots from his first performance on Top Of The Pops in 1983.

The Small Steps Project raises awareness about children and families living on rubbish dumps around the world. The organization provides shoes and aid to such people, and brings attention to the cause through documentaries and other such campaigns.

JUST FOR KICKS: STARS SHOW OFF THEIR SHOES

Sunday marked the final day of “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” a retrospective of the late designer‘s work at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. About 661,509 visitors popped into the installation following its opening on May 4, making it one of the museum’s top 10 most visited exhibitions ever.

Before the exhibit opened to the public, a slew of stars toasted McQueen at the annual Met Gala. Beyoncé, Fergie, Gisele Bündchen, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift and a myriad of others previewed the breathtaking exhibition, which included works from McQueen’s days as a fashion student up through his final collection, plus multimedia presentations illustrating his imaginative runway shows.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who attended the Met Gala with McQueen in 2006, told PEOPLE in May that the designer’s legacy lives on because his talents were so multi-faceted. “I think one shouldn’t pick one memory or recall one thing,” she said. “He could create clothing that nobody else wanted to, nobody else saw in their imagination. And he did it with great seriousness and flair and whimsy and savagery. I think this exhibit is a wonderful example of that.”

The Duchess of Cambridge kept up her cream theme this week in a navy-trimmed, nautical-inspired dress by the brand behind her wedding gown, Alexander McQueen, for an appearance on her North American tour. But it wasn’t the first time we’d seen a star looking ready to set sail in a creation by the late designer. Sarah Jessica Parker (just announced as one of Hollywood’s top-earning actresses!) wore a strikingly similar McQueen dress — with the colors in reverse — for husband Matthew Broderick’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling in 2006. Are hot rollers and Aqua Net making a comeback? If you ask Cheryl Cole and Sarah Jessica Parker, the answer might be ‘yes.’ The X Factor judge and Sex and the City star both popped up at events this week sporting super-voluminous curled hair. Cole, who was arriving at X Factor auditions in Los Angeles on Sunday, paired her bouffant with a flowing top, colorful belt and purple pants, while Parker, at the Robin Hood Foundation gala in N.Y.C., wore her waves with a floor-length blue dress. The year was 2006. Sarah Jessica Parker, still reveling in her stylish Sex and the City glow, arrived at the Met Costume Institute Gala, designer Lee Alexander McQueen by her side. The pair couldn’t be missed: not only was McQueen in a kilt, but he and Parker were both wrapped in plaid — his family’s tartan. It was McQueen’s first time attending the prestigious event, but no one could’ve imagined it’d be his last. “I adored him,” Parker told reporters last night while walking the carpet at the 2011 Met Gala — a celebration of McQueen — in another of the designer’s creations. “It was a wonderful, wonderful night.” Parker compared her 2006 experience to that of a shy couple preparing for prom. “It was a quiet car ride,” she recalled. “I had his corsage in my lap, waiting until we met. I’m grateful for that memory, which is vivid, regardless of him passing.” McQueen, known for being a bit of an introvert, stuck by his date’s side all night as they navigated the fashionable crowds. “He wasn’t a terrifically chatty person. He’s not comfortable in environments like these. But I find that charming. And we got through the evening.” Parker, who called the designer “preternaturally gifted,” said she hopes people remember McQueen’s talent as a whole. “I think one shouldn’t pick one memory or recall one thing,” she explained. “He could create clothing that nobody else wanted to, nobody else saw in their imagination. It might have been a sporty front row, with tennis stars Serena Williams and Andy Murray seated next to Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung and up-and-coming actor/model Douglas Booth, but the outfits were anything but. In fact, Christopher Bailey’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection for Burberry Prorsum could possibly have been his most luxe yet. The traditional Burberry trench was given a modern makeover with biker-chic detailing like leather sleeves, while cropped biker jackets came in decadent snakeskin and striking patent leather—a change from Bailey’s modest collections of previous seasons. British model Booth, who stars in the current Burberry campaign with Emma Watson told PEOPLE: “That was epic!” While backstage congratulating Bailey, he added, “There were really big, bold pieces, lots of studs. It was very rock ‘n’ roll.” Williams, in a olive green satin Burberry dress, could barely contain her excitement telling PEOPLE: “That was so amazing–better than any show I have ever been to!” Other front row guests included Cat Deeley and actor Aaron Paul as well as Mario Testino and Anna Wintour. Those who didn’t manage to get one of the much coveted tickets to what has become the highlight of London Fashion Week, might have been lucky enough to watch the show from one of 25 stores around the world, streaming the show in real time. London Fashion Week came to a solemn standstill on Monday morning as more than 1000 friends, family and colleagues paid tribute to the late designer Alexander McQueen during a memorial service at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral. Dressed in black, with hats and skyscraper heels as the dress code of choice, pals such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Stella McCartney gathered for the emotional hour-long service to remember the iconic British designer who tragically committed suicide seven months ago. Remembering his fashion legacy, the Reverend Canon Giles Fraser told the congregation: “We give thanks for his creative mind, his showmanship, and for his capacity to shock,” while also acknowledging his troubled past and reclusive nature, he said: “It was a life lived in the public gaze, but it was as vulnerable and retiring as it was glamorous.” The eulogies were led by Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, one of McQueen’s first employers. “She told a story about how he couldn’t do the job as it would mean he wouldn’t be able to get his dole [unemployment benefit] money,” one guest told PEOPLE, adding: “but she was quick to say how they always forgave him and how extraordinarily gifted he was.”

Other eulogies were recited from Suzy Menkes and his muse, Annabelle Neilsen, while his nephew Mark McQueen did a bible reading. Music was provided by Icelandic singer and actress Björk who sang “Gloomy Sunday,” a dark song dealing with death, originally sung by Billie Holiday. “Björk looked like an angel, she suddenly appeared from nowhere, it was very emotional and a few people were crying by that point,” said the guest. Exiting the church to the sound of bagpipes courtesy of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland (playing the theme tune to Braveheart), Parker, dressed in head-to-toe McQueen with a single white flower in her hair, wiped her eyes and got into her car, telling reporters: ”It was beautiful and so memorable. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world,” while Campbell, in a feathered creation from the designer, simply added “Lee would have loved that.”

Karl Lagerfeld infused a little Parisian chic into New York Fashion Week, holding the ultimate fashion fête Thursday night to celebrate the opening of the new Chanel Boutique in SoHo, drawing style heavyweights–and many a Chanel muse–including Diane Kruger, Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson, Liv Tyler and Sarah Jessica Parker. Dressed in a stunning black-and-pink striped dress that she paired with a sparkly jacket, SJP did not disappoint, telling PEOPLE that a girl feels “privileged, lucky, like a pumpkin,” when she slips into something Chanel. Blake Lively, who dined with the Kaiser himself after the party, dazzled in a sparkling purple Chanel dress while close Karl Lagerfeld pal Kruger also got cameras flashing in a ruffled blue-and-black dress from the designer, which she gave her own unique touch to before arriving. “I made it a lot shorter than it originally was,” she told PEOPLE. But she explains that her attendance at the bash goes well beyond loving a party. “I’ve known Karl half my life. He’s my mentor,” she said. “I used to work for Chanel when I was a model. After honoring Alexander McQueen at last month’s British premiere of Sex and the City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker introduced a posthumous Special Board of Directors Tribute to the late designer at last night’s 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards at New York’s Lincoln Center. On-stage, Parker said of the late designer, whose work was displayed in an elaborate retrospective, “It was a privilege for all of us to know your work and you. You will be indescribably missed.” Dressed in a sweeping, McQueen gown with a colorful print and accessorized with 19th century antique earrings and bracelets from Madison Avenue jeweler Stephen Russell’s vintage collection, the actress told PEOPLE, “This is what Sarah Burton [who has replaced her former boss McQueen as designer at the label] asked me to wear. We met in London, we talked, worked a little bit here and there in a fitting. It fit fairly well right away, and I was happy to oblige.” And were Parker’s young twins present when she was getting dressed that evening? “Yes, they were!” answered the star, who recently returned from Japan. “They just sat on my lap. Well, not SJP herself, who picked another stellar look from the deceased designer — she told PEOPLE at the time that she was “shocked and overcome with grief” after McQueen’s passing earlier this year — for tonight’s premiere of the film’s sequel in the British capital. With a black tulle cloud by Philip Treacy floating on top of her sleek blonde locks, Parker is stunning in a black silk and lace bustier archive gown from the spring/summer 2008 line with a clutch from McQueen’s pre-fall 2010 collection (the same season as Cate Blanchett‘s recent Cannes gown) and pre-fall 2008 lace shoes. Parker finished the look with a black armband accented with Fred Leighton diamond clips. While we loved her neon yellow Valentino gown at the N.Y.C. premiere, we love seeing SJP push fashion boundaries like no other — who else could pull off that amazing hairpiece?
