SJP’s SATC Wedding Dress Now for Sale

Hector Vallenilla/Pacific Coast News

You don’t need to just dream anymore about slipping into the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress that Sarah Jessica Parker made famous in the Sex and the City movie — at least not if you’re lucky enough to have an extra fifteen thousand dollars lying around. The design has just become available for purchase at Hayden Olivia Bridal in Charlotte, N.C., which has been chosen as one of only three U.S. boutiques — and ten shops worldwide — to carry the wedding dress. And while the price-tag might seem weighty, it does include optional fittings in London with designers from the Vivienne Westwood team. Click here to watch video of the dress at thesavvybride.com and learn how you can schedule an appointment to make SJP’s dress your own. Is Lourdes Inspired by SJP’s Style?

Robert Phillips/Everett Collection; Diane Cohen/Fame

At 12, Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Ciccone Leon is already a budding fashionista. Like her mother, the tween has shown a flair for eye-catching ensembles — and loves a vintage look. Spotted in the Big Apple just last month the teen was sporting these familiar oversized glasses. Lourdes’ ensemble seemed to us like a true blast from the — televised — past: Doesn’t she resemble Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Patty Greene from 1982’s shortlived series Square Pegs? Call it geek chic, or just plain cool, but could Madonna’s daughter be inspired by one of fashion’s most playful characters, SJP herself? — By Liz McNeil

How Would Carrie Bradshaw Weather the Recession? SJP Sounds Off

Courtesy Harper’s Bazaar

Carrie Bradshaw may be the ultimate symbol of the fashionista who puts their wardrobe over their nest egg — who can forget Carrie’s realization that the down payment for her apartment had gone to her shoe collection instead? So how would the iconic Sex and the City character handle today’s economic woes? Sarah Jessica Parker opines to Harper’s Bazaar, “She would probably end up in a hospital. Perhaps she would go back to her ’80s stuff and start bringing it out again.” As for the March cover girl, her own take on the recession is a bit less dramatic. “I know so many people who have lost jobs, are losing jobs, husbands who have lost jobs. I can’t imagine going shopping.” But that said, Parker does allow that “I don’t have the Carrie Bradshaw passion and devotion to it, but I would much prefer that life would allow for a beautiful shoe all day long.” As for Bradshaw’s legendary wardrobe, the actress, who maintains a very un-Carrie-like home (”Friends are readily disappointed by the size of my closet.”), she enthuses, “I got to wear such incredible things, and you make such mistakes and there’s such hits and great triumphs and there’s incredible wrong, wrong, wrong…But it’s so much fun.” Read the full interview with Sarah Jessica at harpersbazaar.com. Sarah Jessica Parker Looking for New Home for Bitten

Michael Loccisano/FilmMagic

Mega-chain Steve & Barry’s has been having financial woes for the past few months, including multiple bankruptcy filings, which has led us to wonder what is happening to their star lines? Remember, Amanda Bynes, Stephon Marbury and Sarah Jessica Parker have all designed affordable fashion lines for the stores. NYMag.com caught up with SJP last night, who revealed she is looking for a new home for her Bitten line. “We have a lot of home offers,” Parker said. “We have to make sure that any partner we enter into an agreement with wants the same thing for the brand as we do, which is to serve the customer first. You know, it can’t be about commerce, it has to be about the customer, and we have to see who’s really willing to be that generous.” And not to worry, she’s keeping her original commitment to affordable clothing — the majority of the line is under $20. “Now, more than ever, people need all things that are about economy,” she continued. “So I want very much to continue it in the right way. So we just have to figure out what’s right for the customer, and how to do it in these economic times.” We’ll be waiting and watching!

SNEAK PEEK: SJP’s Upcoming Fragrance Collection

She’s already smelled success with three best-selling fragrances, Lovely, Covet and Covet Pure Bloom, and now, Sarah Jessica Parker has announced she’ll be adding three more scents to her budding fragrance empire. The upcoming Lovely Collection, which will hit stores early next year, will feature a line-up of three distinct new scents: Dawn, Endless and Twilight. Launching the three Coty fragrances at once might seem like a bold move, but the Sex and the City star explains to WWD that the idea developed naturally out of her overall vision. “I wanted to offer a little glimpse into my world, something that was genuine and relatable — very specific moments, treasures of time,” she says. “The concept of moments lent itself to multiple fragrances.” Tell us: Will you try Dawn, Endless and Twilight when they launch in 2009?

Sarah Jessica Parker Braves the N.Y.C. Cold for Chanel

Despite the chilly New York temperature, stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth, Kim Raver, Eve, Helena Christensen and more turned out to celebrate Chanel’s Mobile Art venture with designer Karl Lagerfeld situated in Central Park. The launch of the contemporary art exhibit, designed by architect Zaha Hadid, featured a star-studded guided tour through the park directed by legendary French actress Jeanne Morreau. Although the party took place outside, SJP and Kate didn’t let bulky overcoats ruin their beautiful Chanel dresses, which pleased the designer himself. “Those girls are really strong girls — they stayed there nearly naked though it was icy cold,” Lagerfeld told PEOPLE. “They didn’t care, they smiled, they laughed. I admire them because we [men] are cowards.” For SJP, it was just another part of the job. “I’m so accustomed to wearing little bits this time of year,” she told PEOPLE. “I did it for the last ten years of my life [namely playing Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City].” And while we’re no fans of the cold, freezing in the name of Chanel seems worth it.
