Short hair is definitely in again for spring. And it looks like ombré might be making a comeback too. Proof? Sarah Hyland has updated her long do in a favor of shoulder-grazing style, and Rose Byrne tweaked the color of her amazing asymmetrical bob. (And we’re fans of both.)

This Week's Best Dressed Is Giving Us Major Fashion and Gym Inspiration

It’s another new year, which means you’re probably doing one of two things: searching for the perfect item to buy with your Christmas money or promising yourself you’ll get back into the gym. Luckily, this week’s Best Dressed star, Rose Byrne, provides a little inspiration for both.

The actress made heads turn — and received the most love from readers — at a David Jones store event in Sydney, giving her refreshing take on the common black-and-white trend. From the wave-like pattern to the unique halter neckline, Rose’s dress had us completely in love. but we’re mostly obsessed with how good she looks in it. In fact, we’ve cancelled all of our weekend plans so we can spend the next 48 hours trying to get arms like hers.

While it’s true that all the bright gowns on the Emmys red carpet Sunday night certainly turned our heads, it was a much subtler shade that ended up being the most-loved dress color of the evening. Call it petal, shell, blush or rose, this hue was worn by many of our favorite stars — including a few we couldn’t even fit in the photo!

Rose Byrne Goes Blonde For the Emmys!

She’s done it again! After debuting brand-new bangs at the SAG awards earlier this year, Rose Byrne showed off another major hair change on another huge night — hitting the Emmys red carpet with newly blonde waves.

As she strolled in on the arm of her beau, Boardwalk Empire‘s Bobby Cannavale, we had to do a double-, then a triple-take. The actress has rocked glossy mahogany locks for so long that we had a hard time believe she would have lightened up quite so much. And while she did keep the underlayer dark, the tones of honey and gold throughout completely changed her look.

She offset her blonder hue with rose gold makeup and a bronze glow, then played up the beachy vibe with a shell-pink dress. And though she didn’t get a chance to talk about it with Giuliana or Ryan, we still think she made one of the night’s biggest style statements without saying a word.

Are you loving the actress as a blonde, or do you miss her dark hair? Should she go even blonder?

3 Style Commandments Rose Byrne Never Breaks

It’s here! And no, we’re actually not talking about New York Fashion Week — we’re talking about the coveted special annual edition of InStyle Beauty. The issue, which features Damages star Rose Byrne, doesn’t hit newsstands until Friday, though — so we rounded up Rose’s top three style commandments to tide you over until then:

1. Thou shalt never overpay. “I’m a high street girl,” she tells the magazine, in reference to the London neighborhood that’s famous for good deals. Documented evidence: She then reveals that her favorite footwear is a pair of black suede Chelsea boots from Aldo.

2. That said, thou shalt always splurge on a timeless bag. “It costs as much as a month’s rent, but it’s totally worth it,” she says. [Editor’s note: Agree!]

3. Thou shalt never leave home without an umbrella. Even when it’s not raining. “Growing up in Australia, I’ve always been very strict about the sun. I have a small UV umbrella that I carry everywhere … I look like a crazy lady!” she reveals.

Rose Byrne Gives the Duchess Hair Advice

Snooki might be doling out pregnancy wisdom to the Duchess of Cambridge, but Rose Byrne is sharing tips with Kate on that other exciting, new development in her royal life: those bangs.

Kate cut her hair last week, and who better to offer maintenance and styling advice than Byrne, who’s had bangs for almost two years. “When you’re blow-drying your hair, always do [the bangs] first. Because otherwise, at least with my hair, if I wait then they’ve already curled up and become really out of control,” Byrne recently told The Cut.

The actress went into more detail, explaining, “I just get the brush and blow-dry them flat.” Byrne then laughed and joked, “I’m sure she’s curious about what I would tell her.”

Though, as far as her own face-framing fringe goes, Byrne is actually considering getting rid of her trim. “Harry Josh, my hairdresser, just gave me a haircut yesterday. I’m just growing them out in a better way,” she says. Think Kate will follow in Bryne’s footsteps and grow out her bangs, too? Tell us: Do you prefer the Duchess with or without bangs?
