Rosario Dawson: No One Noticed My Shaved Head For Months

We may have been surprised by Rosario Dawson‘s half-shaved head look back in June — but Dawson herself is surprised it took us so long to catch on.

“Everyone says it’s going to grow out really badly, but I’ve had it since October and most people haven’t even noticed it,” she told PEOPLE. ” A little bit past this [length], it’s almost unnoticeable. I just [sweep it to the side] and it looks like I’ve put it over my ear or something.”

She’s not kidding — as far back as February, she looked like she had her naturally long locks. But she loves it, especially in the N.Y.C. heat, especially when she has so much else to deal with — like her suddenly terrible skin.

“I’m from New York but I’ve realized how long it’s been since I’ve been here because my face wasn’t acclimated,” she said at the opening of N.Y.C.’s Watermark bar. “I had bad skin all of a sudden! I had to get exfoliator and all this stuff … I was like ‘What happened?!'”

Just last week, we took a look at stars who want to mimic the half-shaved head look popularized by Rihanna and Pink, but who were too chicken to take the plunge.

But no one is calling Rosario Dawson chicken. The actress was spotted on the set of her film Finally Famous, rocking her new shorn do.

We’re so used to seeing the star with her signature long, rich brown waves that we still have to do a double-take to recognize her.

But she has wasted no time since shaving it in trying all sorts of new looks, wearing it down and straight one day and in voluminous ringlets the next, all while sporting a wide smile — no hair regrets here.

Yes, we’re looking forward to trying these two hot-right-now red carpet trends, but what we’re most excited about is the fact that it’s just about time to stash our tights out of sight for the next nine months.

Up: Lucite Clutches. Everyone from Elisabeth Moss to Solange Knowles to Rosario Dawson, above, has been spotted carrying these crystal-clear, hard-sided bags. They look so cool and modern that we’re ready to give this trend a try, with one major caveat: we don’t have special handlers to carry the seven million things we normally need in our purse, so the effect might be somewhat less striking.

And you thought New York Fashion Week was a big deal! London Fashion Week is in full swing, and so far, the shows have impressed, offering star-studded front rows, technological advances and even a near-royal visit. Check out some of the highlights from the week’s biggest shows.

Burberry Prorsum

Promising a starry front row at London Fashion Week, the Burberry Prorsum show on Monday (above, left) did not disappoint. Sienna Miller, Kanye West and a current face of the brand, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, sat alongside Rachel Zoe, Gemma Arterton, tennis star Andy Murray, singer Paul Weller and photographer Mario Testino at Christopher Bailey’s spring/summer 2012 show in Kensington Gardens. Tribal-inspired print dresses were paired with cropped trenches and raffia caps in a collection that put a handcrafted artisan twist on ladylike chic.

“Oh my God, that was insanity!” gushed Zoe to PEOPLE as she headed backstage. “[Bailey is] amazing. I mean, who else makes a coat like that?” she added, referring to the “reinvention” of the classic Burberry trench.

Spring is in the air—fashionwise that is. Tod’s celebrated their spring/summer collection with a lunch in Beverly Hills on Friday benefiting The Museum of Contemporary Art. Hosted by creative director Derek Lam, the ultra-glam event drew some of Tinsletown’s finest fashionistas including stars like Rosario Dawson, Ginnifer Goodwin and Kelly Lynch, who epitomized the brand’s classically-chic style as they sipped champagne and shopped Tod’s Beverly Hills location. “I love getting the insider [look] because I get to get a little shopping done in advance,” said Dawson, who was clad in Dolce & Gabbana and Tod’s. “That’s the key and it’s time for Christmas shopping.” The preview also got the Unstoppable star thinking about dabbling in her own fashion career, telling PEOPLE, “Oh yeah, I would totally collaborate on something. I think that would be so fun, especially something short-term,” adding that she would design with her own body type in mind.”I don’t have really big hips or anything, so I always fit smaller on the bottom but the top I always have to let out.” As for Lam, who just signed on for another two years with the Italian fashion house, inspiration for the new collection fit within the spring aesthetic. “The colors were inspired by flowers,” he said, “Gardening shoes I love, like the croc mixed with the garden soles. I think Tod’s is about the Mediterranean style everybody aspires to don in the most modern, classic [way].” –Michelle Ward
