Kristen Bell and Rachel Bilson Tee Up for Invisible Children

Peter Wintersteller/Berliner

In spite of Kristen Bell’s busy acting career, the Couples Retreat star still took the time to make saving the world look stylish. Last week, Bell joined Pete Wentz and Rachel Bilson to co-host the Guess/Vanity Fair party in Los Angeles to launch special edition organic Guess T-shirts that benefit the nonprofit organization Invisible Children. Pairing one of the T-shirts with a sexy Vena Cava dress and Christian Louboutin pumps, Bell talked to PEOPLE about her involvement with the organization, which promotes youth education and economic development in war-torn regions of Central East Africa. “It’s just standing up for humanity, which I think is really important for us to do for each other,” she said. Bilson agreed, saying, “It’s also important to spread the word about these T-shirts. You can buy them, and all the proceeds go to Invisible Children.” The party stayed lively with Wentz behind the DJ booth and attendance by celebrity friends such as Annalynne McCord and Eliza Dushku with boyfriend Rick Fox. Stefanie Keenan/WireImage

Casual never looked as chic as it did at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont last night, where stars like Rachel Bilson, Mandy Moore and Lauren Conrad slipped into their best L.A.-cool fashions in celebration of Madewell’s Fall Denim Tour with Lucky magazine. And for Bilson, whose mom, spiritualist Janice Bilson, made a special appearance reading tarot cards for the superstar guests, style has always been in the cards. “I really look up to a lot of my peers and how they dress,” Rachel, who was wearing a Madewell dotted tank, told PEOPLE of how she picks up style tips. “I love to admire other people.” And in a town filled with famous fashionistas, there’s plenty of inspiration to be had. “Ashley Olsen I think is great, Diane Kruger, Sienna Miller — all those people obviously have good style, so it’s nice to see that around you. Your peers surround you, and they all look good, so that’s great.” –Reporting by Pearl Barraclough

Courtesy of Lucky Magazine

Since her days on the O.C., Rachel Bilson’s always-chic and on-trend street style has turned her into a bona fide fashionista. So what is it about the 28-year-old star’s style that keeps us intrigued? “I’m constantly trying new things and experimenting, so I never really settle on one style,” Rachel tells Lucky Magazine. “By the time I figure out how to define my look, I’m usually ready to move on to something else.” And come fall, Rachel will be experimenting with one of the season’s must-haves. “I’m excited about the great jackets with strong shoulders this season. It’s a cool throwback to the ’80s,” says the November cover girl. Though Rachel is fond of an ever-changing wardrobe, she does have her favorites. “I’m a huge fan of Helmut Lang for everyday items that are comfortable, easy to throw on, and always look good,” she says. Another one of Rachel’s favorite designers is Brian Reyes. “[He] makes the most beautiful, feminine clothes. I’m always eager to see what he does next.” And being the fashionista she is, the designer is sure to plant his superstar friend in his front row come New York Fashion Week. Lucky girl! Rihanna, Rachel, Katy & More Shoe-Shop on Fashion’s Night Out!

Ace Pix

What would Fashion’s Night Out be without some shoe shopping? Rihanna, Rachel Bilson, Katy Perry and Michelle Trachtenberg partied up a storm while shopping for shoes at designer Giuseppe Zanotti’s Upper East Side boutique. Rihanna, clad in a clingy black hooded dress by Cover and Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain booties, pursued the shelves of shoes with girlfriends and her stylist Mariel Haenn. After settling on a pair of suede leopard-print wedges, the singer and designer himself hit the dance floor rocking out to “Last Dance” by Donna Summer. An onlooker tells PEOPLE, “I’ve never seen anyone dance and laugh so much at a fashion party before in my life!” Bilson skipped out on the dance party to try on close to twenty pairs before walking away with ankle booties and wedge sandals. And while Rachel played dress-up, Trachtenberg and Taylor Momsen made friends with Perry before picking out their own new shoes. Michelle settled on a pair of over-the-knee embossed leather boots, and Taylor stuck to her ’90s grunge style with crystal-encrusted flat biker boots. No word yet on what Katy took home, but we are sure they are just as drool-worthy as the rest. Jeff Vespa/Wireimage

For a sexy, flattering shape, look no further than Phillip Lim.  His intricately beautiful designs and unique structure continue to garner attention from fashion-savvy celebrities, who rushed to help the N.Y.C. designer celebrate the one year anniversary of his West Hollywood boutique. “The shapes are unbelievable. I’m a girl without much shape on my own so I appreciate a designer who knows how to accentuate a women’s body,” 90210 star, Shenae Grimes told PEOPLE.  Adds host Rachel Bilson, “He really designs for every women.  Every article of clothing is amazing, you literally walk into his store and want everything.  If I had it all in my closet I’d be like the best-dressed person!” The store itself is another example of Lim’s attention to detail.  The designer and California native said,  “The store is just a simple palette, when you walk in, it’s like the cleansing of the palette when you go inside it exposes all the tastes and the spices.”  That spice is what makes Molly Sims a fan, “Everything is a little off.  He’s never going to put something together that is expected…and he pulls off being very conservative in a very vintage way. Wanting to create a special night reminiscent of a summer concert, Lim chose his favorite band, The Duke Spirit to serenade the crowd on the outside patio and personally consulted with his celebrity clients before the event.  Of her outfit, Kristen Bell simply said, “He (Lim) picked it for me so I just said “ok, I’d be happy to [wear it]!”–Michelle Ward
