After we put up a post on new denim trends featuring a picture of Penelope Cruz in a pair of flared jeans, an overwhelming number wanted to get them too! Celebs can and often do drop big bucks to score the hottest fashion items before anyone else. We recently spotted Penelope Cruz in N.Y.C carrying a gorgeous bag from Prada’s fall collection — the Glacé Zippers Bag which retails for $1,350. Now most of us don’t have Penelope’s budget, but there is always that one item that you’ll scrape all your change together to get each season. In the August issue of StyleWatch (on newstands now), we asked you to tell us the one item you’ll splurge on for the fall. And we really want to know. Tell us: What will be your big fall purchase? Who hasn’t left their home and decided halfway through their day that they just hate the outfit that they put together? When Penelope Cruz left her hotel in Paris last Friday, she was decked in faded blue jeans and a chic white tunic top. . . that became a chic minidress as her day of shopping wore on and her jeans vanished from her look! Move over, Gwen. The ever-stylish Penelope Cruz has just added herself to the list of multi-talented stars who are trying their hands at designing clothing. Along with look-a-like sister (and fellow actress) Monica Cruz, the beautiful duo are designing a line for Spanish powerhouse MANGO (think H&M) — they will also be the face of the brand, so you can look forward to seeing their ads break in the fall. The line will feature 25 pieces, which are a mix of clothing and accessories. While the Cruz line won’t be on sale for a few months, you can shop the current MANGO collection on their website, mangoshop.com. Tell us: Will you wear clothes by Penelope?

Penelope Cruz was one of the undisputed standouts of the Oscar red carpet in her elaborte Atelier Versace gown. But the Spanish beauty changed out of the shredded chiffon floor-sweeper into a pearl and crystal encrusted Chanel Couture dress for the Vanity Fair party after the show that we’re just not as sure about. Penelope rarely mis-steps, but the Chanel dress doesn’t seem as flattering to us. Tell us: Which look do you like better for Penelope? Her Oscar gown or her after-party dress?

Nominated for Best Actress for her role in Volver, Penelope Cruz is the Romantic of this year’s award season.

Signature Look: Strapless and sleeveless gowns (the better to show-off her toned arms) with nipped-in waists. Cruz’s dresses are often embellished with romantic details such as ruffles, lace and bodice-enhancing ruching. Her go-to beauty look? Lush hair and dramatic eye makeup, finished off with a nude mouth.

Favorite Designers: Oscar de la Renta, Chanel and Valentino, with shoes by Luciano Padovan. Cruz also favors simple diamond jewelry by Chopard and Cartier.

What She Will Wear: Though her stylists have looked at sketches from serveral designers, insiders say she is likely to wear Dior.
