So that’s what it’s like to be a celebrity! Penélope Cruz gets primped and prodded — and looks absolutely flawless — in this behind-the-scenes shot from the 2013 Campari Calendar shoot. The actress is the star of the 2013 calendar, an artistic work published, obviously, once yearly, considered limited edition because only 9,999 copies are made.
“I have really enjoyed working on this project for one of the world’s most iconic brands, particularly with such an amazing history attached to it,” Cruz says in a statement. “The theme in itself is intense, captivating and chic.” (The theme is currently a secret.)

Mega movie premieres this week (yay for summer blockbusters) meant lots of opportunities to see our favorite stars work it hard on the red carpet. And many of them did, choosing perfectly appropriate looks for their big nights out. However, there are still a few ladies on our naughty list, so let’s take a look at the trends we’re loving and the trend we’re ready to leave behind this week:
Up: Taking the plunge. If you’ve got it, flaunt it. (Well, as long as you don’t have too much of “it.”) Emma Stone‘s Elie Saab creation could’ve been a bit blasé if it went to her neck, but with the sexy deep V showing an appropriate amount of skin (and the rest of the outfit looking classy, not trashy), the star made a major fashion impression.
Terry Richardson for Harper’s Bazaar
When Penélope Cruz is choosing a red carpet dress, she has but one requirement: “All I look for is to be able to breathe,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar.
Working looks from Givenchy, Atelier Versace, Chanel and more as the magazine’s May cover girl, Cruz reveals her designer dream list: “Alaïa, Armani, Dolce, Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano,” she shares. But none have yet topped her favorite fashion moment, her arrival at the 2009 Academy Awards in a vintage white Balmain gown. (She won the Oscar for Vicky Cristina Barcelona that year, too.)
These days, the actress is more likely running around after son Leo in Mother jeans and black Isabel Marant wedge sneakers (“They are sold out everywhere! Tell her to make more,” she jokes). But she still has her fill of pinch-me style moments.
From Reese Witherspoon‘s retro-glam gown to Gwyneth Paltrow‘s ultra-modern column dress, there was plenty of red-carpet eye candy at this year’s Academy Awards — and we’ve made it easy for you to choose and share your favorites with everyone you know. See all the night’s looks at our Make Your Own Best Dressed page and then instantly share your top five with your Facebook friends — and us, of course! Click over and in just a few seconds your inner circle will know whether you thought that Natalie Portman reigned in purple or new mom Penélope Cruz sizzled in red.

Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, Bono–talk about moral support! When Penelope Cruz was asked to be the guest editor of French Vogue‘s latest issue, the Oscar-winning actress called upon some very famous friends to help her out. For the May issue–traditionally dedicated to the Cinema and the Cannes Film Festival– Cruz corralled Streep, Winslet and Moore as models and talked Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts, Bono and others into collaborating. “She was very intense and precise about what she wanted,” Olivier Lalanne, the magazine’s associate editor-in-chief told WWD. The resulting magazine–which hits Paris newsstands Friday, April 23–has three cover choices featuring Cruz with her A-list entourage. Inside, black and white photography accompanies Penelope’s winning editorial mix, including an interview between Spanish director Pedro Aldomovar and French screen legend Jeanne Moreau, some personal photographs of Salma Hayek, Javiar Bardem and Sean Penn, and a photo layout featuring Vanessa Paradis in Shanghai.
