Eva Mendes and Naomi Watts are making us think that movie-star hair is just a shower away in their just-revealed ads for Pantene. The actresses, announced as the new faces of the brand in May, represent Pantene’s “breakage to strength” and “flat to volume” collections, respectively. “The amount of torture I put my hair through with flat irons, blow dryers and curling irons leaves my hair extremely damaged,” Mendes said in May. “With Pantene I can use all of these tools and still keep my hair healthy.” Watts, whose campaign will depict her without extensions or chemically altered hair, said she’s sticking up for women with fine tresses. “I want to let [them] know that achieving beautiful, voluminous hair is possible without damaging [it],” she added. Putting herself in the shoes of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson was no easy task for Naomi Watts, but thanks to designer Giorgio Armani, the two were able to connect through fashion. “Valerie Plame wore Armani in real life,” Roberta Armani, designer Giorgio Armani’s niece, told PEOPLE of America’s most famous ex-spy, on the red carpet at the Cinema Society’s N.Y.C. screening of Fair Game on Wednesday. “In real life,” explained Doug Liman, who directed the film starring Naomi Watts about the former C.I.A. officer, “Valerie Plame is incredibly sexy. And you can only imagine how that sexiness would have worked in the field recruiting assets in foreign counties. So, yeah, it was awesome to put a spy in something incredibly beautiful.” Added Watts, who plays the former undercover C.I.A. operative: “To the world, she presents this very soft-spoken feminine, woman, which she is,” insisted the star. “She’s that, plus, underneath it all, she could take you out.” A spy who wore Armani? “I am an Armani fan,” confirmed Valerie Plame Wilson, looking chic in a black pantsuit from the designer. “The first time I really spoke in public was at the congressional hearing. And I treated myself to an Armani jacket, because it made me feel as confident as I possibly could.” So much so that the jacket was recreated for Watts in the movie. “On camera, the real one created a moiré pattern. But she did have pieces of Armani in her wardrobe in real life,” explained Wanda McDaniel, Armani’s executive vice president of entertainment industry communications. Watts not only shared Plame Wilson’s love of the Italian fashion house–both wore sexy Armani creations on the red carpet–but it also appeared that she adopted a similar tousled blonde hairstyle. “I realized that on the red carpet,” explained Watts. “I said, ‘It looks like I stole your hairstyle, doesn’t it?’ . . . . Naomi Watts made a fashionable appearance at the star-studded Salt premiere last night with two gorgeous additions– partner Liev Schreiber, and a brand new hair cut! Naomi’s new stick-straight hair was draped over her collarbone and styled with long side-swept bangs. “It was quite a change for Naomi,” said her hairstylist, Robert Vetica, who created a look that referenced 60′s British pop and a soft, natural, Studio 54 vibe. The stylist cut off two inches but left Naomi’s locks longer in the front and higher in the back. “They were first cut long and blunt, then razored and texturized to about the bridge of the nose so they looked lighter around the face,” says Vetica, who achieved Naomi’s silky smooth finish with Argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Light. Target’s designer collaborations always have bargain-hunting fashionistas eager to shop, and for the launch of Liberty of London’s first Target collection Naomi Watts was one of them. “I was born and raised in England and my mom’s an interior designer and was always obsessed with Liberty fabrics and textiles,” the star told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s launch. “There are dresses on the racks where I’m like ‘Oh my god.’ It brings up so much nostalgia because I know I had that dress or something in the vicinity.” So what does the long-time fan think of the iconic print house’s new collection for Target? “It’s very feminine and pretty. I think these things are very edgy and cool,” says Naomi, who sported a $25 peacock print tunic from the new line to the event. But, the one thing that the star is really loving about Target’s latest guest designer’s collection is the price! “I didn’t grow up earning the money I earn now,” admits Naomi. “But this is what’s so great about this! That merging with a place like Target makes it so accessible for everyone. It’s so affordable and I’ve been going nuts.” While at the event, Naomi stocked up on houseware, including decorative boxes, cups and plates—and little girls’ clothes! “I haven’t seen the little boys section yet. Gracing magazines is nothing new for Salma Hayek, but now the actress is venturing into literature with an appearance on the front cover of hairstylist Robert Vetica’s book, Good to Great Hair. At Thursday’s Moroccanoil-sponsored launch party for the tome, which offers hairstyles and advice based on hair type, the star, who wrote the forward to the book, revealed what led her to become involved in the project with Vetica, whose other A-list clients include Jennifer Lopez, Marion Cotillard, Mariah Carey, Renee Zellweger and Naomi Watts. “I think it’s great that women can get ideas of what is best for them without having to go to somebody who’s super-expensive like Robert is in real life,” she told PEOPLE. Another famous fan, Debra Messing, said that Vetica encouraged her to love her curly locks. “Every day was an interesting hair moment growing up,” she revealed. “One of the first things that Robert taught me was that it was not a disaster. He was like, ‘Your hair is fabulous and it could do anything!’” she says. Hayek, added, “When he does my hair for an event, the blow-dry lasts for four or five days. Audrey Tautou isn’t the only star to earn a coveted fragrance ambassadorship this week. Thierry Mugler has just announced that Naomi Watts will be the new face of their classic scent Angel. And for her part, Watts explains, representing the brand was a natural choice. “It was an easy decision,” she tells PEOPLE. “I think to me, the Angel woman is someone who has many faces and is not afraid to show all facets of her personality. She’s both vulnerable and strong and flirtatious and for me, I guess working as an actor you have to play all those emotions all the time.” In addition a glamorous print campaign that will launch this October, Watts has completed a commercial by Dreamgirls director Bill Condon, appropriately shot in the City of Angels. But as to whether she sees herself as angelic off the screen, the star reveals, “I think every woman likes to be thought of as angelic. Especially in the eyes of men. But I think that you shouldn’t be afraid of your strengths. And that’s exactly what I felt the first time I smelled the perfume. It’s gentle, its soft, it stays with you. It feels strong. To me, it’s not being afraid of showing who you are — embracing who you are.”

But is it okay to tone your core with a baby onboard? Yes, but carefully, says Daniel Loigerot of DL Fit Pilates in New York City, who works with Naomi Watts. The actress, 38, who is expecting a baby with boyfriend Liev Schreiber in July, has kept twice-weekly sessions-even continuing to use the intimidating Reformer apparatus. "I customized a program for her," says Loigerot, who accommodates Watts’s growing bump by having her work on her side, on all fours or propped up with pillows. Before starting your own routine, check with a doctor. Loigerot offers a few tips:

Avoid exercising on your back after the second trimester. "Baby weight can compress blood vessels in the abdomen." Instead, lie on your side, sit or stand.

Don’t overstretch. "When you’re pregnant, your muscles get looser, so joint stability decreases and you can pinch a nerve."

Breathe. Getting oxygen to muscles is key, he says. "You’re breathing for two now."

Last week, I had the pleasure of seeing Liev Schreiber in his new Broadway show Talk Radio — and I got the thrill of seeing his pregnant girlfriend Naomi Watts, sweetly standing in the lobby waiting for the show to begin. In person, Naomi looked beautiful, glowing and pretty petite for a pregnant woman, so I wasn’t surprised at how va-va-voom she looked at the show’s opening last night. Clad in a slinky turquoise wrap dress with a cut-out back from Calypso and a Rosena Sammi necklace, the mom-to-be showed off all of her curves — including her baby bump. In fact, it’s the sexiest outfit that Naomi has worn in a while. Has revealing her pregnancy freed her up to show off? Three’s the charm for today’s birthdays — Naomi Watts, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Hilary Duff were all born on September 28. They are all beautiful and stylish women, and we wish them very happy birthdays! We have a few thoughts on what gifts to get them, you know, if we had unlimited budgets and were actually friends with them. Anyone who fits those qualifications, feel free to crib from us!

1. Gwyneth (right) is turning 34 today! She is back to doing yoga after the birth of son Moses, so we’d give her an Adidas by Stella McCartney (one of her close friends) yoga mat. After yoga she can slip into McCartney’s skinny jeans and funnel neck coat. Now that she is living in London, she needs a good British bag like this Mulberry Bayswater bag. To keep her pale blonde hair in perfect condition, we would get her the Blonde-Aid Masque for deep conditioning. In case she misses her native Australia, we would give her lip lacquer from Australian fave Napoleon Perdis, skinny jeans from down under designers Sass and Bide, and vegemite (come on. We had to.)
