Miranda Lambert Cuts Her Hair Even Shorter

Aug/19/2014 at 11:01 AM ET

The last time we checked in on Miranda Lambert‘s hair, she was styling it in a prim and pretty “lob” in the vein of her “Mama’s Broken Heart” persona (pre-meltdown). But lately she’s been “zhuzzing” it up with a more piecey, rocker vibe — and now she’s taken it to the next level.

And of course, by next-level, we mean into full bob territory. “Fresh cut! Fresh color! “Somethin’ bout PLATINUM! Thanks @amandacraig12! Love you,” Lambert captioned the photo, which she posted to Instagram Monday night. The new color, of course, is in tribute to her most recent album and just-kicked-off Platinum tour — and we wonder if the cut is too. It’s got an edgy rocker vibe that goes with some of her sassier new songs (you’ve heard “Something Bad,” right?) with lots of flippy layers, long sideswept bangs, and a chin-grazing length shorter than she’s gone before.

One definite advantage of her new short cut? It’s sure to dry much faster than her old extensions would have after undertaking the Ice Bucket Challenge, which she did with Thomas Rhett this weekend. Oh, and it’s super-cute. That’s the other advantage.
