Country music’s finest came out to celebrate at the CMA Awards in Nashville Wednesday night — and their outfits did not disappoint.

Miranda Lambert: No Makeup for Me

She loved getting all gussied up for her recent walk down the aisle to now-husband Blake Shelton, but when Miranda Lambert is just hanging out, you’re likely to find her wearing something a lot more casual.

“We live in Oklahoma, two hours from any city, and it’s a haven. Just being in the woods, sitting around a fire being normal, keeps us sane,” Lambert shares in the November issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. “We love to ride four wheelers, go for walks.”

The newlyweds own two farms, just six miles apart from each other. “My house was built in the ’50s, and Blake’s tall and the door is short, so he physically can’t live at my house, so we kind of moved into his,” Lambert shares. “His is total guy house, so I’ve been working to make it girl-friendly. You know, bedspreads and candles.”

Miranda Lambert’s Wedding Wear: The Reception and More!

For her intimate wedding ceremony, Miranda Lambert wore her mom’s vintage Gunne Sax gown, but when it came time for the reception, the country singer put on a party dress and hit the dance floor in her custom white cowgirl boots! Lambert, who wore a tiny fascinator in her hair, chose the Vineyard by Priscilla of Boston “Drew” dress for the night’s festivities (accented with fabulous jewels), giving her some freedom to move. “She wanted to have a fun and spontaneous dress for the reception,” Priscilla of Boston designer Mark Brower tells PEOPLE. “It was very important that she feel comfortable in the dress. She wanted to enjoy the day and feel like herself — a genuine country girl!” Lambert also wanted her bridesmaids (below) to feel comfortable, so she chose a different dress for each bridesmaid, sticking to a color scheme of lilacs, creams and browns. “They all had a common theme, they all looked like a vintage sundress and were short,” Lambert’s mom Bev tells PEOPLE. “They all fit their personalities perfectly.” To throw in some country fun, Lambert gifted each bridesmaid with a new pair of Old Gringo boots (groom Blake Shelton gave his groomsmen boots, as well). Says Bev, “It’s a brand she loves.” For more on Lambert and Shelton’s wedding and all your favorite country stars — and for free music downloads! — pick up the latest issue of PEOPLE Country or check out people.com/free. –Reporting by Danielle Anderson

Miranda Lambert’s Wedding Gown: Chosen for Good Luck!

When planning her wedding to country star Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert had the perfect dress in mind — and didn’t have to look far to find it. “The first time I heard her talking about it, she said, ‘My mom and dad have had a great long marriage and it must have been good luck for them, so I want to start my marriage wearing the same dress my mom had on,’” recalls Lambert’s publicist and wedding planner Kathy Best. “It was all about the lasting love her parents had, and that was very important to her.” Once Lambert slipped into the Gunne Sax dress, she knew she’d found the one. “It was a very tearful moment the day we first tried it on,” Lambert’s mom, Bev, tells PEOPLE Country. “She’s like, ‘I’m not even going to try another dress on. This is it Mom. There’s no other dress that would fit me better or mean more to me than this dress.’ It was stunning on her.” The gown, which Bev wore during her 1979 nuptials, had been tucked inside a cedar chest for more than 30 years, so Lambert gave it a little updating, adding a small train of the same fabric to the end, but otherwise leaving the spaghetti-strap, off-white frock untouched. During the couple’s wedding ceremony, Lambert’s family pastor explained the significance of the dress, and at the barnyard reception, the newlyweds displayed photos of their parents at their own weddings — including a shot of Bev in the Gunne Sax gown. “It was perfect,” Best adds. “And [Miranda] was just beautiful.” For more on Lambert and Shelton’s wedding and all your favorite country stars — and for free music downloads! — pick up the latest issue of PEOPLE Country or check out people.com/free. –Reporting by Danielle Anderson
