Red Carpet Trend Report: The Scoop on Jumpsuits, Double-Strap Sandals and Getting a Little Too Ab-Happy

In our weekly round-up of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we spotted chic onesies all over the place, a ton of strap-happy celebs in sandals — and a little too much ab action.

Up: Jumpsuits. Apparently normal pantsuits are just way too boring, because this trend is taking over Hollywood. Case in point: Jennifer Lopez nailing it in this black all-in-one getup with gold chain detailing around the collar. (If you want to try it, this one is on sale for $49 at Kohl’s!) The look manages to be classy but still packs an edgy punch which makes for the perfect trend formula. Plus, just this week Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Morrison and Maria Menounos proved onesies aren’t going anywhere. Our only question: What happens when you have to use the bathroom?

Yes, You Can Raid Sarah Jessica Parker’s Shoe Closet

Rare is the girl who hasn’t coveted Sarah Jessica Parker‘s shoe collection — or that of her T.V. alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw.

But while you can’t walk in Bradshaw’s heels (she is fictional, after all), Parker is putting a few of her fancy pairs on the auction block to benefit N.Y.C.’s LaGuardia Arts High School.

Parker, who donated three pairs of shoes to the auction, is one of 17 stars whose items are up for sale to benefit the performing arts school. She signed the soles of each set of shoes — including the Prada platform clogs and Jonathan Kelsey sandals pictured above — and bidding starts at just $100.

We suppose if we were celebrities, with unlimited access to anything we wanted to wear, we’d eventually get bored of the same old gowns and cocktail dresses.

Apparently, that’s what happened to Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Amanda Seyfried, all of whom have recently forgone designers’ womenswear collections for something a little different: pieces literally borrowed from the boys.

This weekend, Cyrus tweeted a shot of herself in her signature crop top, sexy heels and a pair of men’s leather basketball shorts. “Girl in boys clothing,” she wrote.

What in the world is Miley Cyrus wearing?! Am I looking at one of those Magic Eye posters where if I stare at it long enough I’ll see a schooner or an enchanted unicorn? So. Many. Stripes. Can’t. Focus.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love me some Miley. She is one youngster who I feel expresses her individuality and personality bravely. It’s difficult to be in the public eye, especially when you had to succumb to it at such an early age.
