Mila Kunis's Belly-Baring Moment, Kate Hudson's Plunging Jumpsuit & More Celeb Date Looks to Discuss

Apr/28/2014 at 12:19 PM ET

Did anyone else notice that there seemed to be more high-profile celebrity dates happening this weekend than usual? No? That’s okay, because we decided to round them up some of the most stylish ones for you.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher spent their weekend at the Stagecoach country music festival in Indio, Calif., and definitely embraced the laid-back, denim-heavy dress code. The mom-to-be flashed her growing belly in an ivory crochet top paired with cutoffs, while Kutcher kept things cowboy in a black hat, white tee, bandana neck tie and big belt buckle.

So far Kunis’s maternity style has been all about comfort and low-key pieces, but we’re curious to see how she dresses up her bump for red carpet events in the future.

Jumping from country casual to all-out-glam, Kate Hudson celebrated her 35th birthday this weekend in L.A. wearing a whiplash-inducing sparkly jumpsuit with an ultra-plunging neckline. Her fiancé, Matt Bellamy, went for a rocker-friendly suit style in a silverish gray jacket and slacks teamed with a graphic T-Shirt

Lastly, Vanessa Hudgens and her long-term boyfriend Austin Butler attended church together Sunday in Studio City, Calif, in hipster outfits similar to what one of our editors sees them wearing frequently in their Brooklyn neighborhood. Hudgens (who is still rocking her super-long, super-blond Coachella extensions) selected a lime-and-white knit sweater dress, nude gladiator sandals and a boho-inspired bone dagger necklace by Frasier Sterling. Butler stuck to his uniform: black skinny jeans and a flannel.

Oscars Gown Showdown: Mila Kunis vs. Anne Hathaway -- Pick Your Favorite!

Oscar Gown Showdown: Mila Kunis, Anne HathawayJason Merritt/Getty; Jason Merritt/Getty; Fernando Allende/Broadimage

The Showdown: Mila Kunis in 2011 vs. Anne Hathaway in 2009
The Editor’s Pick: Anne Hathaway
Who Made the Call?: Bronwyn Barnes, Senior Style Editor
Why She Chose It:
Anne wins, hands down.

I realize that’s like announcing the name of the winner without the dramatic tension of “And the Oscar goes to…” but my decision was a gut reaction.

When Mila wore this gown to the Oscars in 2011, she was my pick for best dressed. The silhouette was ultra-feminine and unrestrained, the pale lavender hue gave her skin an ethereal glow and the strategic draping of the delicate chiffon made the diminutive actress appear to be inches taller. But in the two years since then, there have been so many copycat dresses — if I see one more lace panel, I’ll scream! — that when I look back, Mila’s frock seems almost too familiar. ( Now this is a truly unforgettable Elie Saab gown. )

On the other hand, although I’ve seen countless metallic dresses over the years, I experience the same visceral reaction every time I see Anne in this Armani Privé column gown; I wish I’d been there in person so that I could have admired how divinely radiant she looked in it… and then knocked her to the ground and stolen it right off her back.

Up close, the diagonal cascade of iridescent paillettes circling down to the hem conjures visions of Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. From a distance, those shimmering scales and Swarovski crystals morph into designer armor, accentuating Anne’s womanly curves and transforming her into a red carpet gladiator. The gown was heavy — weighing in at 15 pounds — and constricting, but Anne made it look effortless.

Throwback Thursday, Awards Edition: Mila Kunis Had a Personal Best at the 2011 SAGs

In honor of Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards and our favorite holiday, Throwback Thursday, we remember some of our favorite moments from the SAGs red carpets of years past.

Mila Kunis isn’t a red carpet fixture (you’re more likely to see her in a Bears jersey and sweats with her love Ashton Kutcher) but when she turns it on, she Turns. It. On. And she certainly did just that in her jaw-dropping red carpet reign for Black Swan in 2011, in which she wore one unbelievable dress after another.

However, our personal favorite (though it was hard to choose) was this romantic floral Alexander McQueen gown, which won major style points for its grace, ever-so-edgy abstract print and pitch-perfect fit. And Kunis cemented her place as a style star by wearing the couture as effortlessly as if it were jeans and tee, adding barely-there jewelry and loose waves.

Our only complaint? That Kunis has been laying low lately. We’re ready for another moment just as memorable as this one.

The SAG Awards air Saturday, Jan. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and TBS. Watch along with us at @peopleredcarpet, and tell us: Who are you most excited to see on the carpet? What is your favorite SAG look of all time?
