Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Elizabeth and James: Not Named After Little Sis

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may have a sister named Elizabeth and a brother named James (who goes by Trent), but that doesn’t mean their Elizabeth and James brand is in homage to their siblings.

“We wanted it to be based on a relationship between a young girl and a boy and tell the story through clothing,” Mary-Kate told WWD when they launched the contemporary collection in 2007. “It’s a clash between masculinity and femininity,” added Ashley.

Brand reps also confirm to PEOPLE that the line is not named after anyone in specific.

But try telling that to little sister Elizabeth. “In my mind, that was, ‘Oh cool, that means I get free clothes,’” she tells ASOS magazine of her presumed influence on the line’s moniker. “For two years, I didn’t [have to] buy anything.” The Martha Marcy May Marlene star also wears her sister’s collection throughout a spread in the mag and was recently spotted sporting the line’s $155 sunnies.

All is fair in love and fashion?

Elizabeth Olsen: My Sisters Don’t Dress Me

Sundance Style Spotlight: Elizabeth Olsen
Justin Campbell/Startraks

Her reign as an indie darling continues, but Elizabeth Olsen is a reluctant fashion plate.

“I’m actually not very good with all this designer stuff,” the 22-year-old tells Refinery29. “I just know basic ones.”

For a newcomer, however, her learning curve is rather impressive. Along with Marni and Céline, she swears by edgier labels including Isabel Marant and Carven. “I wore an orange floral Proenza Schouler dress that I was like obsessed with to the W magazine pre-Golden Globes party,” she gushes of a recent standout look (left).

And though she’s Mary-Kate and Ashley’s little sister, don’t credit The Row designers with Elizabeth’s ingénue style. ”I don’t live with them, and they don’t dress me,” she says. “Like, I’m an adult, ha!”

But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t shopped her sisters’ closets before. “I used to do it a lot more, but I’ve overgrown them by a lot,” she admits. “I overgrew them in high school, and then all of my friends started getting their hand-me-downs.”

Justin Bartha Doesn’t Consider Himself Stylish

Justin Bartha Style Spread for Mr. Porter
Michael Buckner/Getty

As the straight man in the Hangover movies, Justin Bartha is too good looking to be called attainable, but a smidge more approachable than the average Hollywood hunk.

A little out of reach, and with a solid Hollywood dating history (he dated Ashley Olsen for two years before being linked to Scarlett Johansson), the 33-year-old makes for the ideal fashion girl crush. Only one problem: he doesn’t really ‘get’ style.

“I don’t really think about it actually. For me, it’s just about comfort,” he says in a profile on Mr. Porter. “That’s the most important thing. I’m all about fit and fabrication as well.” OK, so maybe he’s not completely clueless.

And though the actor wears an Alexander McQueen jacket, Lanvin sneakers and a $265 Maison Martin Margiela T-shirt in the spread, Bartha values sentiment over designer duds. “I have a golfing shirt that my late grandfather wore,” he reveals. “I absolutely idolized him. He gave it to me and I bring it wherever I go. I wore it on the audition for the first movie I landed.”

We hope he’s not referencing 2003′s Gigli

How to Bring Bethenny Frankel, Mary-Kate and Ashley Into Your Home

It’s not just another celebrity sale: the ‘Goddess Adorned’ auction features fancy vases decorated with love by stars like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Bethenny Frankel, Melissa Joan Hart and more. But just like your typical celebrity auction, funds raised benefit a very worthy cause: Housing Works, a charity working hard to eradicate homelessness.

The stars involved each received a limited-edition Gaia vase by Harry Allen, then used sparkling Swarovski Elements to personalize the vessels. Frankel used black and red crystals to give a “chic” representation of her Skinnygirl brand (left); the Olsens put their design skills to use by making a miniature blazer from Italian-sourced fabrics and pairing it with a feminine skirt to “dress” their vase; and Hart made a play on her last name, covering hers in deep red breaking hearts.

Check out all 15 vases — and place some bids! — on shop.housingworks.com through Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 10 p.m. ET.
