EXCLUSIVE: Mariah Carey Reveals Her Fan-Designed Frock!

Rachel McKintosh

Last fall, we asked if you had the talent to design for superstar Mariah Carey in an online contest celebrating her newest fragrance, Luscious Pink. Fans vied to win the honor of dressing the pop diva by submitting original sketches of looks that ranged from short and sexy to classically elegant. And now Mariah is giving PEOPLE.com the exclusive first look at Mariah stepping out in the winning dress. Created by 20-year-old Julian Contreras from San Jose, the pink concoction balances the star’s love of body-conscious silhouettes with luxe red carpet glamour. And while Mimi had originally planned to wear the look as part of an upcoming tour, she loved the chic style so much that she skipped the stage and wore it for a romantic dinner with husband Nick Cannon. Starting today, Mariah is auctioning off one of three copies of the dress in existence on eBay, with all proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Bids start at $500, with the winner being determined May 30th. Click here to make it yours!

Salma Hayek and Debra Messing Dish on Getting Gorgeous Hair at Book Launch

Jeff Vespa/WireImage

Gracing magazines is nothing new for Salma Hayek, but now the actress is venturing into literature with an appearance on the front cover of hairstylist Robert Vetica’s book, Good to Great Hair. At Thursday’s Moroccanoil-sponsored launch party for the tome, which offers hairstyles and advice based on hair type, the star, who wrote the forward to the book, revealed what led her to become involved in the project with Vetica, whose other A-list clients include Jennifer Lopez, Marion Cotillard, Mariah Carey, Renee Zellweger and Naomi Watts. “I think it’s great that women can get ideas of what is best for them without having to go to somebody who’s super-expensive like Robert is in real life,” she told PEOPLE. Another famous fan, Debra Messing, said that Vetica encouraged her to love her curly locks. “Every day was an interesting hair moment growing up,” she revealed. “One of the first things that Robert taught me was that it was not a disaster. He was like, ‘Your hair is fabulous and it could do anything!’” she says. Hayek, added, “When he does my hair for an event, the blow-dry lasts for four or five days. I don’t know how he does it, but I have great hair for the whole week once he does it for one day!” But forget hair for a minute, what is the secret to Hayek’s glow? “I am happy,” the newlywed said with a sly grin. Click here to get Good to Great Hair for yourself — and help support one of Salma’s preferred causes while you’re at it. The book’s publisher is donating a portion each purchase towards UNICEF’s efforts to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. – Reporting by Jenny Sundel

Theo Wargo/WireImage

Good news for Mariah Carey fans. The singer has just announced that following the success of her first scent last year, she will be launching a new sparkling floral this September. As for why she decided to create a second scent with Elizabeth Arden, Mimi reveals, “Launching my first perfume was such an amazing experience that it has inspired me to expand my fragrance collection.” But it’s the newlywed‘s description of Luscious Pink as “an ethereal…scent that reflects the delicately sensual, feminine and optimistic side of me that is so present today in my music, my fragrance and my life,” has us intrigued.
