What to Wear for a Night Out This Weekend

TGIF! If you already have your Saturday night plans set, but still haven’t figured out what to wear, we recommend finding some outfit inspiration in Mandy Moore‘s effortlessly sexy ensemble.

The star looks smokin’ hot, but she’s covered from head-to-toe — and that’s exactly why we’re loving the look.

Moore takes simple black cigarette pants (like this pair from Gap) and toughens them up with an on-trend leather jacket (we found a vegan one for $168), finishing things off with pointy-toe pumps.

To brighten the all-black look, she adds two pops of red with a clutch (similar to this Vieta one) and red lip. We recommend going minimal with the rest of your makeup, like Moore did, if you plan on doing a bold pout.

Think pantsuits are just for 9-5ers who can’t get away with jeans in the office? Think again!

Last week we honored Blake Lively with a PEOPLE Summer Style Award for her red-hot two-piece getup; she wore Michael Kors to promote her new film Savages in New York. And ever since then, it seems everyone in Hollywood is getting in on the not-so-corporate-anymore trend.

Recently, Mandy Moore was spotted at a Dove event wearing a suit, but eschewing the traditional black or navy color, opting instead for a head-to-toe cream ensemble finished with leopard-print platforms.

And Harper’s Bazaar cover girl Rihanna also recently rocked a red suit with pink accents while in London.

You don’t have to secretly hope your office adopts a pantsuit policy to try the look, though; this workplace staple is now appropriate for date night, brunch with the girls and everything in between — as long as you go with an unexpected hue. Exclusive: All About Mandy Moore’s Custom CFDA Dress

It’s no secret that Mandy Moore has been a longtime fan of designer Lela Rose — she frequently wears Rose’s designs and has snagged a front row seat for many of the designer’s Fashion Week shows. So it was no surprise that when Rose was looking for a star to accompany her to Monday’s CFDA Awards in New York, Moore was top of mind.

“Dressing Mandy is always a fun experience,” Rose tells PEOPLE of the pair’s collaboration, which began in April. “Not only is she stunning but such a genuine and lovely person.”

The cream column dress with shoulder embellishment, which was inspired by a design Moore spotted at Rose’s spring 2012 show, was such a perfect match for the singer that she only required one fitting the day before the awards ceremony. “I was so taken by the short version of this dress on the runway, and was so excited that they custom-made me a long version for the event,” she tells PEOPLE. “I love the juxtaposition of the soft white draping and the hard edge of the metal- and pearl- encrusted shoulders! I’m all about a strong shoulder right now — it feels confident.”

Mandy Moore was blessed with perfect a complexion throughout her teen years. “People were always very complimentary about my skin,” she tells PEOPLE. “But that made it all the more traumatizing when I hit 22 or 23, and out of nowhere, my skin started breaking out literally overnight.”

The singer-actress visited several different dermatologists, says she tried everything from “the most expensive treatments on down to drugstore products,” and even made an appointment with an allergist to see if she was having a reaction to something she was eating. “I’d never dealt with this before,” she explains. “I was really weirded out.”

Finally, a girlfriend recommended Proactiv — but Moore was skeptical. “I thought, ‘Really?’” she recalls. “I saw the infomercials all the time, and thought it wouldn’t be specific enough to treat my problem.” But after trying it once, she never turned back. “It ended up being the only thing that worked,” she shares.

Leopard is one of fall’s hottest trends, but less-fearless fashionistas have been sneaking it in with bags and belts. Not so these stars, who have committed full-out to the trend, sporting it in style with Current/Elliott’s red-hot “Leopard Stiletto” jeans.

The skinny style, which retails for $198, comes in two washes, a camel and a faded gray, which render the bold-print neutral enough to pair with a variety of looks. Marchesa’s Spring Runway Show Is a Dreamy Fashion Fairytale

Move over, Eloise. A new fable unfolded at the Plaza Hotel on Tuesday afternoon when celeb-loved fashion house Marchesa took over the storied spot, creating a fashionista’s fairytale in the elegant Palm Court.

Supermodels such as Karen Elson wore tulle and chiffon confections, gliding and weaving slowly between paths of ballroom chairs filled with the likes of Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman, Naomi Campbell, Emma Roberts, Mandy Moore, Michelle Trachtenberg and Kelly Osbourne.

“I loved how elegant every detail was … every aspect, every detail in those dresses is just insanely beautiful,” Osbourne told PEOPLE after the show. “Ah-maz-ing … that’s three words,” stylist Brad Goreski added. “Gorgeous setting, great music. Every single details was perfect.”
