Madonna’s Next Role: Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 Model!

Evan Agostini/AP

After two seasons as the face of Louis Vuitton, the Queen of Pop is ready to take on her next high-fashion challenge: modeling for Dolce & Gabbana! The Italian design duo announced on their online magazine Swide.com, that Madonna will be the face of their Spring/Summer 2010 campaign. This won’t be the first time the Italian designers have teamed up with Madonna. They first collaborated with the star back in the early ’90s when they designed the iconic costumes for her 1993 The Girlie Show tour and then, just last year, they designed costumes for her return to the stage during the Sticky and Sweet tour. “To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true,” Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana tell their online magazine. And with their Sicilian-inspired Spring/Summer collection revisiting iconic pieces, such as their signature corset, it is only fitting that Madonna, who shares an Italian heritage with the designers, brings the collection to life. Madonna’s Dolce & Gabbana ads were shot last week in New York City by photographer Steven Klein. We can’t wait to see the photos! Tell us: Are you excited to see Madonna as the face of Dolce & Gabbana?

Fashionistas (and Madonna!) Go Gaga at Marc Jacobs

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

In the front row at the Marc Jacobs show on Monday night, fashionistas were abuzz about Lady Gaga’s four costume changes at the MTV awards the night before. “Provocative, daring, uncomfortable. . .fun,” said Joe Zee, Creative Director of Elle. “I don’t know if she will look normal,” he said of her slated appearance at the Marc Jacobs show, “…but she will definitely wear Marc.” And while Madonna made it to her seat before the show started promptly at 8:00 p.m., Lady Gaga, holding hands with Jacobs’s partner Lorenzo Martone, stood watching from the entrance. After the show, she ran straight backstage, telling the waiting photographers, “I need to see Marc first . . . please.” And not only did she find Marc, but she found Madonna as well for an air-kiss and a photo-op. So what did the pop divas think of the show? “I loved it, I loved it, I loved it,” Madonna enthused, while Lady Gaga expounded, “Every season still takes my breath away. It was breathtaking. I love Marc Jacobs. Life is a red carpet, and tonight the red carpet is his.” She continued, “The show was amazing. I love the ballet scenes and the romantic ruffles, the Japanese makeup…When you’re watching Marc Jacobs, life is a stage. I was hyperventilating.” So was the crowd when Lady Gaga took to the stage at the V magazine party later that evening (that Jacobs hosted), leaving her delicate Marc Jacobs black and silver dress behind for a daring red stage costume. Madonna may have relied on Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci for haute couture tour costumes and jeweler to the stars Chopard for the 258 brilliant-cut white diamond “M-Dolla” ring she sported on the cover of her Hard Candy CD last summer, but for her newest single “Celebration,” her Madgesty looked no further than Nicole Richie’s affordable House of Harlow 1960 line for some bling. The Queen of Pop rocks Nicole’s long gold locket necklace — which costs only $65! — on her collage-inspired single cover, which Nicole excitedly announced on her Twitter. Madonna’s Makeup Artist’s Secret Weapon: Diamond Dust

Courtesy Shu Uemura

In the ’80s she had a hit singing “Material Girl,” and now the singer’s making good on the nickname with a beauty routine that takes luxe to fierce new levels. For her Sticky & Sweet 2009 tour, Madonna’s long-time makeup artist, Shu Uemura Artistic Director Gina Brooke, is giving Madonna a true high-wattage sparkle by dusting her eyelids with a mixture of white shadow and flawless, crushed rose-cut diamonds — and accenting the look with another two carats of small diamond pieces affixed to her brow bones, all inspired by the singer’s hit “Ray of Light.” And while diamond dust might seem over-the-top — even for Madonna — the effect is worth it, explains Gina. “The resulting brightness and glow from Madonna’s eyes captivate the audience and reinforces the fact that there are always new possibilities with makeup — and no rules,” she says. Even if you don’t have a few spare carats of diamonds lying around, you can still recreate Madonna’s tour look using slightly less precious commodities, Gina says. Using Kolinsky brush in #15, apply Pressed Eye Shadow ME White 906, blending softly from lash line to brow bone. Using a liner brush, apply Painting Liner in M Black from corner to corner of lash line, sweeping up at the edge. Next, apply a thick false lashes, like Farfallina Lash. Balance the look with a neutral lip using Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in 945 Beige.

Fashion Faceoff: Madonna vs. Whitney Houston!

INF, Richard Young/Startraks

One dress, one night, two divas — it was a real-time fashion faceoff last night as Whitney Houston and Madonna both hit the scene in Europe in their snow leopard-print Dolce & Gabbana dresses. Madonna hit the after-party for her Milan concert at the Gold restaurant, owned by longtime pals Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, along with her “good friend” Jesus Luz in her printed sheath. Meanwhile, in London, Whitney attended a playback party for her new album I Look to You in the same curve-hugging dress. We love seeing both singers looking so hot so much that we can’t decide who wears it better — but we bet you can! Vote in our poll below.

EXCLUSIVE: The Scoop on Madonna’s New Couture Costumes

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

Madonna looks fiercer than ever on stage these days, and she has one man to thank for that On the opening night of the Material Girl’s Sticky & Sweet tour’s second leg July 4 in London, Madonna wowed fans with a new “super couture, sensual, Goth, bondage” costume that Givenchy Haute Couture’s Riccardo Tisci designed for her opening act. “What I wanted for the opening was to give a very iconic view of Madonna,” Tisci tells PEOPLE exclusively. “She’s wearing an outfit that will make history. I wanted to do something even stronger (than what he designed for her in the tour’s first leg) because she wants to be stronger.” Working with the Queen of Pop was easy, says Tisci. “I just met her six months ago and I’m completely in love with her,” he says. “She’s an artist but she let me express myself, which is rare. She knew what she liked from my collection and wanted me to translate that for her on stage.” He also designed a new dress for another part of her show. “She said she wanted to do colors,” he says. “I said why not? So we did fluorescent rosary necklaces (over a black dress.)” Tisci was also very impressed with Madonna’s ability to remain calm in the midst of so much activitity, rehearsing and putting her tour together. And yet, he says, “She was very calm and Zen. She is a Leo like me. For Leos to be calm and Zen takes time because we are very energetic. She was amazing.” And she’s not the only one rocking new costumes on the tour — Madonna’s male backup dancers looked newly sharp in Brooks Brothers Slim Fit ten-pleat wing collar and tennis collar white tuxedo shirts during the opening number of “Candyshop.”

SNEAK PEEK: Madonna’s Fall/Winter Louis Vuitton Ads

Courtesy of Louis Vuitton

From a chic Parisian cafe to a dimly lit New York studio, fashion’s dream team has produced the latest Louis Vuitton ads featuring Madonna. The star, along with designer Marc Jacobs and legendary photographer Steven Meisel, joined forces a second time to create Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2009 ad campaign. From the collection’s rich, dark fall colors to the portrait-like feel of each picture, the new ads take a different direction than the previous season. “While the two campaigns look very different, there is also a unity about them,” explains Marc Jacobs in the press release. “So it now feels like we have completed both parts of the story.” Meant to evoke the golden age of Hollywood, the moody ads even have Madonna showing off the infamous bunny ears she first wore to the Met Gala back in May.Tell us: What do you think of Madonna’s new Louis Vuitton ads?
