Leave it to Madonna‘s daughter to try a cool new look! Lourdes Leon stepped out on her way to school in New York Thursday, sporting a funky new half-shaved do. The stylish 15-year-old — who’s had long dark hair forever — had her hair up in a bun, bringing extra attention to the edgy style.

Leon hasn’t made drastic changes to her hair before, though she’s toyed with the idea. “I want royal blue hair but not a streak, like my entire head,” the teen designer wrote on her blog in December of 2010.

But at the time, she wasn’t so sure she’d get away with the change. “I read this blog aloud to my mother,” she continued, “and she is sitting here staring at me with no expression on her face, as if she doesn’t approve of it!” Wonder if Madonna gave this cut the OK? Kelly Osbourne 'Sad' to Be Parting Ways with Material Girl

Guess you can’t live in the material world forever. Kelly Osbourne is signing off as the face of Madonna and Lourdes Leon’s tween clothing line, Material Girl. The reality star is currently on the hunt for her replacement, helping out with a nationwide search to find the next face of the brand.

“I’m sad, but I’m really excited to help pick the next girl and that I got to be a part of this process,” she told PEOPLE at a Material Girl model casting in New York on Monday.

“Kelly was at every audition,” Leon added. “I was only at one and I did the online stuff. It was … difficult because we only get photos and resumes.”

How does one become the next Material Girl? “They get on stage in the middle of Macy’s on a microphone in front of the mall. It’s really intimidating — really scary,” Osbourne said. “But it gave me faith in the female kind again seeing these awesome young girls on stage spilling their guts. One girl drove 20 hours!”

Most people don’t remember their first birthday party. But for Material Girl designer Lourdes Leon the occasion — her brand’s first birthday — was unforgettable.

“It feels so great,” she told PEOPLE recently during the bash at Macy’s in New York. “I never thought it would get this big and it makes me really proud, and my mom is really proud, too.”

Mom Madonna has said she lets Leon do “most of the work,” but the brand’s face, Kelly Osbourne, says the superstar singer contributes, too. “[Leon] and Madonna do everything and that really reflects in the styles you see coming down the catwalk … it makes me really proud as well, because the line just keeps getting better and better,” she told PEOPLE.

What do teenagers love? According to 14-year-old Lourdes Leon, it’s fresh and fruity scents, dramatic nail polish colors and of course, pretty party dresses.

The budding designer, who oversees Macy’s Material Girl line with mom Madonna, recently unveiled the latest offerings for the brand, including more denim, party dresses, outerwear, lingerie and makeup.

“I really like the vanilla body lotion,” she told PEOPLE while experimenting with some of the beauty buys. “It smells really good, fresh, like you just rubbed vanilla essence all over you … which is good!”

Another favorite? Labyrinth nail enamel. “I think it’s cool,” she said of the sheer, sparkly polish she was sporting that day. “You can wear it to school without it being overly bright, which is nice.”

Madonna and Lourdes Expand Their Fashion Line, Material Girl

Teens everywhere have been amping up their wardrobes with eclectic pieces from Madonna and daughter Lourdes’s juniors clothing line, Material Girl. And now, the mother-daughter team is building up the brand to include beauty products, intimates and sleepwear, plus outerwear, party dresses and an expanded denim line. First up are intimates and sleepwear, which debut in stores this month and will include everything from solid and polka-dot push-up bras to bustiers, sweatpants and even girly boxers. Next will come beauty products, including nail polish, lip glosses, body sprays and lotions, all hitting stores on Aug. 15, with eye palettes launching on Sept. 15. 
”It was so much fun getting to pick all of my favorite scents for the Material Girl body products and lip glosses,” Lourdes told WWD. “The body products have fun names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, Midnight Magnolia and Sinful Sugar. I chose scents that I loved.” After girls everywhere start smacking their lips with the new glosses, they can stock up on fall fashions like studded and acid-wash skinny jeans, outerwear like cape coats and bomber jackets, and a collection of sequin-covered, feather-accessorized dresses, also coming to stores in fall. Work it, Kelly! She was announced as the fresh new face of Madonna and daughter Lourdes’s juniors clothing line Material Girl in January, and now, Kelly Osbourne is rocking out in some new images from the upcoming fall 2011 campaign, called MG + NYC.
”We have both enjoyed working with Kelly and are thrilled to have her on board for the launch of the fall 2011 collection,” Madonna said in a statement accompanying the latest images. And Osbourne feels right at home working with the material mom-and-daughter duo. “I’m really enjoying being the face of Material Girl. I love being part of a brand for girls and having the opportunity to work with Lola [a.k.a. Lourdes] who has an amazing fashion instinct,” she said. “Added to that is the fact that Madonna has been a big influence on my style over the years.” For the new campaign, photographer Brooke Nipar shot Osbourne in iconic spots throughout New York City, including Times Square, Soho and Washington Square Park. The ads serve as a follow-up to Osbourne’s spring campaign for the brand, carried exclusively at Macy’s. When the ladies weren’t busy shooting the ads, they did find some time to have a little fun: Madonna, Lourdes and Osbourne got chummy around town in some fun, behind-the-scenes photos (below). In her ads as the new face of Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon’s clothing line, Material Girl, Kelly Osbourne is showing off her colorful side — and both Kelly and Lourdes are talking to PEOPLE about their fashion favorites for the upcoming spring season. “The military jacket. I love that and I put it with a bunch of badges on it to make it my own, too,” Leon said recently, whereas Osbourne points to the accessories. “The shoes–there’s a pair of nude heels that I’m really obsessed with,” Osbourne gushed. “There’s so much stuff in it that’s so me and what I wear. There’s a leopard dress that I get to wear next that I’m excited about. I love prints,” she said. When it comes to clothes for warmer weather, it’s shorts for spring that are all the rage for the girls. “I’m like obsessed with them,” said Lourdes. But one of the greatest things about the line, Osbourne observes, is that it’s accessible to everyone. “There’s not many other companies besides Material Girl that do clothes at an affordable price that are high fashion and [are] what people see in the magazines and can emulate themselves without having to go and spend $1000 on a dress,” she said. And one of the most important aspects of the line for 14 year old Lourdes was making sure that other girls her age could buy great clothes without breaking the bank. “I don’t go out and buy all of these expensive [clothes]…so it’s good for my friends.
