We have much to be thankful for this week, including the fact that Liv Tyler has chopped off her enviable locks … and they remain glorious (and yes, enviable).
The holidays are still a few weeks away, but celebs are already getting into the giving spirit (and we should too!) by giving away super-luxe outerwear to charity.
Activewear brand Lolë has a campaign called Lolë Yellow Label that collects gently used coats and sells them at very reasonable prices ($10-$50). All of the money is then donated to AmpleHarvest.org, an organization that collects excess produce from gardens and excess food from pantries to feed the hungry. Donations are being collected until December 1st (check their site for more info), but if you live in the N.Y.C. area, head to their pop-up shop at Brooklyn Flea on November 22nd and 23rd and you can participate in a silent auction (starting at $50) and score a super-chic jacket that was donated (and autographed) by a star. In her latest ad for Givenchy beauty, Liv Tyler does something she’s always wanted to do: she sings.
“My whole life, since I was a little girl, all I ever thought I would do is be a singer,” she tells PEOPLE. “My mom and stepdad, my dad [Steven Tyler] are all musicians and singers, and somehow I started modeling and acting instead.”
But when Givenchy approached her about changing up the routine for their Very Irrésistible Givenchy Electric Rose fragrance ads, the star was all for it. “I literally jumped on my bed and screamed like a little girl,” she says. “It was such an amazing opportunity to try it out.”

At five-ft., 10-in. tall, actress Liv Tyler towers over many people in Hollywood. But that certainly isn’t stopping her from slipping on some stilettos. “I’m obsessed with wearing heels all the time now, these Louboutin heels,” she tells Nylon magazine. “They’re really comfortable.” However Tyler, who claims her rockin’ dad steals her clothes, wasn’t always such a fan of being so, er, well-heeled. “I was this tall when I was, I think, 11? So at 11, I was five-ft., 10-in. and I had a size 10 shoes,” she says about once hesitating to accentuate her height. Today, though, it’s a different story. “This came to me like a light bulb recently, like, ‘Why am I so shy when I’m tall?’ and ‘Why do I feel better in flats and Converse? Oh I bet it’s because I was a giant at 11 years old, and I was so much taller than everyone. All the boys!'” she explains. “But today I feel happy to be tall.” Tell us: What do you think of Tyler growing confidence? –Kim Peiffer
