Leighton Meester Gives Blair Waldorf Fashion Advice in British Glamour

Courtesy Glamour

If Leighton Meester could give just one piece of fashion advice to her Gossip Girl alter ego, Blair Waldorf, what would it be? “She could let loose a bit,” British Glamour’s December cover girl says. “She’s always got every bow in the right spot and her headband perfectly placed. Tights to match her sweater to match her jacket to match her gloves to put on with her hat.” It sounds…exhausting. However, despite their different wardrobes, the Gossip Girl actress credits the show for her own edgy style. “This character has been an introduction to fashion,” she says. “I take my own cue and do something different. Blair’s much more classic – I like changing it up.” When it comes to her beauty regime, the actress ditches Blair’s rollers and irons for a more natural look. “I actually think I’m prettier without makeup,” she boldly states, and her favorite hairstyle is definitely headband-less. “I like it to be somewhat tousled.” Perhaps the only fashion item they do have in common is their love of gravity-defying high heels which, according to Meester, are responsible for her toned calf muscles. “It’s probably from walking in high heels — I’m not kidding!” –Monique Jessen

Gossip Girl Style Breakdown: Season Three, Episode Ten

Giovanni Rufino/The CW

There isn’t much that could have out-done last week’s infamous threesome, but leave it to Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) to make the steamy scene a thing of the past by securing an exclusive performance by Lady Gaga. And while Gaga took over the Gossip Girl set with her red-hot stage wear, we still couldn’t take our eyes off Vanessa Abrams’s color mix (played by Jessica Szohr) and Blair’s preppy plaid coats. While Vanessa stuck to her laidback style in a Diane von Furstenberg sweater coat paired with slouchy Brian Atwood booties and a blue L.A.M.B. bag, Blair was the picture of uptown sophistication in her Theory cape coat, red patent Manolo Blahnik peep-toes and black-and-white Chanel purse. From dirty politicians to high-class call girls, Gossip Girl had all the makings for an election night scandal. Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) may have bonded with the working girl over her Valentino bag and Proenza Schouler dress, but as always, Blair kept it classy. Putting a modern-day spin on Jackie O’s elegant style, Blair turned up at the polling booth in her high-fashion best, including an Oscar de la Renta gold metallic sheath, Chanel purse, Alexandre Birman lace-up booties and a Valentino coat. We loved Blair’s look so much that we had to find it for you! Shop Blair’s voting look for less here.

Gossip Girl Style Breakdown: Season Three, Episode Seven

It was Halloween on the Upper East Side and what better way to celebrate a night of tricks and treats than at the opening of Chuck Bass’s (Ed Westwick) hot new club? For the star-studded bash, guests like Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) stuck to the Speakeasy theme and channeled the roaring ’20s. But of course, each girl put her own sexy spin on her flapper-inspired look. Serena flashed her long legs in a silver sparkling Collette Dinnigan minidress paired with a diamond Jennifer Behr hair clip and Christian Louboutin Pumps. Blair, on the other hand, took a more authentic approach in a white, beaded fringe Alberta Ferretti frock topped with a black Suzanna Dai collar. We love a flapper costume for Halloween so if you still haven’t gotten yours, check out how to get Serena and Blair’s roaring ‘20-chic for less. Shop their looks here.

Gossip Girl Style Breakdown: Season Three, Episode Six

The CW

If Vanessa Abrams thought college would free her of Blair Waldorf’s wrath, she was dead wrong. While trying to sabotage each other’s chances of giving the NYU freshman toast, Gossip Girl’s rival starlets, played by Jessica Szohr and Leighton Meester, might have lost their cool, but at least they kept their style. Blair dreamed of her defeat while wearing a jeweled Reem Acra plum gown. Vanessa, on the other hand, came close to her first victory over her arch enemy while sticking to her signature boho chic in a tribal-print Nanette Lepore top, American Apparel liquid leggings and Dolce Vita booties. And even though both stylish freshman were beat out by a Herve Leger-clad Olivia Burke, played by Hilary Duff, we still loved their competing looks so much that we had to find them for you. Gossip Girl Style Breakdown: Season Three, Episode Five

Lily Bass, played by Kelly Rutherford, might have ditched the black tie wedding for a garden ceremony at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, but that doesn’t mean her Upper East Side guests were any less fashionable. Her daughter, Serena van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively, celebrated her mother’s nuptials in an olive green J. Mendel strapless dress with beaded detail paired with muted red heels. Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, also brought high-fashion out of Manhattan donning a color block embroidered Valentino Red dress. And though Serena and Blair’s garden wedding looks are as different as night and day, we love them both! Get their looks for less here.

EXCLUSIVE: Tory Burch Dishes on Filming Gossip Girl with Blake Lively

CW/Giovanni Rufino/Landov

Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff won’t be the only famous guest stars on tonight’s episode of Gossip Girl – designer Tory Burch will be making her acting debut as well. And while she was hush-hush about the plot, she was ready to dish about what it was like to work with Blake Lively and the rest of the cast. “I have never acted before, so I was a little nervous about messing up my line. Blake made me laugh and put me at ease though, and the crew was so gracious,” Tory tells PEOPLE exclusively. Though Tory’s scenes weren’t filmed in her actual office, the designer tells us that the set was a dead ringer. “They did an incredible job recreating my office, down to the books I have on my Lucite shelves and framed photos of my boys!” This time around Tory didn’t get a chance to dress Gossip’s leading ladies, but the designer definitely has some ideas on what she would like to see Blake’s Serena van der Woodsen and Leighton Meester’s Blair Waldorf wear from her real-life fall collection (click through to see them). “Serena’s style is sophisticated yet rebellious,” says Tory. “I think she’d live in these leather leggings, and pair them with an embellished top and oversized vest. It’s a cool, sexy look that Serena could wear uptown, downtown, and everywhere in between.” As for Blair: “[She] has a quirky ladylike style and looks great in contrasting colors, prints and textures. The booties and leather driving gloves add just the right amount of edge to this feminine look. I would add a custom-made headband that would be cool enough even for college.” We can’t wait to see Tory Burch on Gossip Girl tonight! Love her picks for Serena and Blair? Shop them here.
