Who has the boldest hair in Hollywood these days?

Well, okay, Miley Cyrus, but a close second seems to be Kerry Washington.

The Scandal star isn’t afraid to switch up her hair color quickly, going from her ordinary dark mocha strands to purple streaks at Monday’s Met Gala to her newest look, rich red highlights, at last night’s premiere of her film Peeples — all within a week.

Washington is so beautiful, she can pull off practically anything, which is why we love that she’s willing to have fun with different hues, even for her biggest red carpets.

3 Trends Spotted at the Met Gala: Spikes, Gloves & Punktastic Hair Color

May/07/2013 at 09:00 AM ET

After you’ve clicked through all the amazing (we use that word in a good and bad way) looks stars wore to the annual Met Ball, scroll down to see the punk-ish style themes that kept popping up on the red carpet.

SPIKES: There was perhaps no trend more ubiquitous than these bad boys. Jessica Alba (carrying a Christian Louboutin clutch) and Cameron Diaz (in a golden belt) looked ready to skewer vegetables for a barbecue, while Cara Delevingne reminds us of a sexy porcupine in her sharply studded Burberry gown.

GLOVES: Unlike those spikes, we never could have predicted the presence of these ladylike accessories at Fashion Prom for Punks. But Kerry Washington and Beyoncé wore them with their gowns. And then there was Kim Kardashian, who wore gloves attached to her dress and in the same print.

PUNK HAIR COLOR: Lily Collins (rocking blue streaks), Diane Kruger (who dip-dyed her ponytail pink) and Alicia Keys (with red highlights) are giving us flashbacks to the Manic Panic-fueled days of middle school. Wonder if any of them, including Kerry Washington with her purple-ish mane, will keep the color after the Ball has ended.

Which of these trends would you consider trying?

Exactly What to Do to Get Kerry Washington’s Glutes, Ali Larter’s Legs and More

Mar/25/2013 at 09:00 AM ET

Before she hit the Oscars red carpet, Django Unchained star Kerry Washington put in a good old fashioned sweat session — and the hard work paid off.

“We worked out before the show,” says her trainer Juliet Kaska, who caught up with PEOPLE StyleWatch at the N.Y.C. launch of Activate water March 8. “We work out as often as four or five times a week. She’s so dedicated. I’ve never seen work ethic like hers!”

With spring — and shorter hemlines! — just around the corner, we asked Kaska, who also trains hard-bodied stars Ali Larter and Stacey Kiebler, how she’s getting her celeb clients ready for warmer weather this year.

The trick, says Kaska, is keeping weights light, reps high, integrating lengthening Pilates and yoga exercises, and working on oft-forgotten muscles in the core area.

For a toned behind like Washington’s, Kaska recommends V-lifts: Lie prone on bench with hips at the end, holding top with your arms. Draw abs in to support the lower back. With toes on the ground, feet flexed and legs extended in a V shape, lift legs up until your heels are in-line with your butt, keeping glutes engaged. At the top, hold for one count. Draw legs together, squeezing your butt, abs and inner thighs; hold another count. Bring feet down just above the ground. Repeat 10 to 15 times.

Oscars 2013: The Editors Pick Their Favorite Fashion Moments

Feb/26/2013 at 03:30 PM ET

As soon as we’d pulled together the Best Dressed list, each style editor at PEOPLE.com immediately used this tool to make her own personal top five list and share it on Facebook. (If you haven’t made yours yet, what are you waiting for?!)

As it turns out, we each gave the coveted number-one spot on our lists to a star because we were won over by one very specific part of her look. Below, we call out that one special thing that caught our eye and prompted us to give the complete look our style seal of approval.

Style Director Andrea Lavinthal: Brandi Glanville’s Neckline: I picked this one before the red carpet even officially started. The Real Housewife, who arrived so early I suspect she slept outside the venue the night before, stunned (no, really, I was stunnedin a plunging gown that she designed herself. Okay, okay, I’m kidding (though I couldn’t resist another opportunity to talk about the craziness that is her gown). My real vote goes to Charlize Theron, specifically the shade of her Dior Haute Couture creation. It’s proof that white doesn’t always have to look bridal-y.

Tabatha’s Takeover: Kerry Washington Is an Easter Parade Gone Wrong

Feb/08/2013 at 04:00 PM ET

We all know Tabatha Coffey, Bravo’s sharp-tongued Aussie style pro, from her stint on Shear Genius and her latest hit, Tabatha Takes Over. And now, she’s bringing her talents online, joining us at PEOPLE StyleWatch once weekly to dish on some of the best – and worst – celebrity looks of the week. Keep in mind the opinions below belong solely to the stylist … though she’s probably saying what lots of you are thinking, anyway!

Today, she takes on Kerry Washington, who wore a pink-and-green Oscar de la Renta gown to the NAACP Image Awards in L.A. this week:

I’m probably going to get a lot of negative comments for this one, but I absolutely can’t stand this Easter egg hunt of a dress on the lovely Kerry Washington. And honestly, I’m quite shocked this dress was even an option. It does nothing for her figure and it makes her look like she is 10 years old waiting for her grandma to pick her up for Easter brunch. Before I go any further, I’m going to need someone to burn those shoes.

If I had any say in the styling, I would put Kerry in something a bit more fitted and flattering. The color of the dress would hands-down be emerald green, not only because it is Pantone’s color of the year, but for the fact it would complement her complexion and hair color.

Midday Outfit Inspiration: Kerry Washington’s Sweet and Saucy Look

Jan/31/2013 at 03:04 PM ET

Kerry Washington Style
Roger Wong/INF

Our responsibility as PEOPLE StyleWatch editors is to show you the cutest outfits we see every day, and we take that very seriously. So we consider it practically a sacred duty to discuss Kerry Washington’s adorable look, spotted Thursday on Good Morning America.

We don’t know if she was feeling extra stylish when she woke up (Jan. 31 is her 36th birthday, after all), but this was just one of three cute ensembles she sported within a few hours — and it was definitely our favorite.

Why does it work so well? Something about the mix of the girlie Wes Gordon jacquard tee with the sassy A.L.C. leather skirt is appealing, and the proportions are exactly right. We loved that her rich red lipstick and flirty bangs totally fit into the playful vibe of the outfit. And the stunning Christian Louboutin booties with an ombré Lucite heel add impact to an otherwise simple look.

Though we’d like to say this is outfit inspiration for tomorrow, we’re kind of tempted to run home and change right now. Tell us: Do you like Kerry’s two-tone look?

The Final Word on SAG Awards Style

Jan/28/2013 at 05:00 PM ET

We’ve rehashed your opinions and our opinions — and George Kotsiopoulos’s opinions! — but we have one more voice to consider when talking SAGs fashion: that of celebrity stylist Mary Alice Haney. She’s dressed Blake Lively, Jennifer Lawrence, Sarah Jessica Parker and more — and has a lot to say about Sunday night’s leading ladies! Here are her thoughts on the evening …

Many of the women walking the red carpet looked like they were a) either going to the prom or b) a contestant in the Miss America pageant (not necessarily a bad thing, as it turns out). The trends of the night were strapless, fishtails and black. So what were my favorites?

I was excited to see what I call the ‘Audrey Hepburn Moment.’ My favorite dress of the night was on Anne Hathaway. My friend, the über-talented Giambattista Valli, created this couture dress — I requested it for a client and was told it was on hold. (Now I know why they didn’t send to me!) Anne and the dress were flawless. Ms. Hathaway continues to dominate the red carpet.
