Who knew Cindy Lou Who would be a trendsetter in 2012?

Kelly Osbourne, Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian have all recently stepped out sporting high, twisty top knots that immediately gave us flashbacks to the famous Dr. Seuss character.

The spool-like ‘do was first spotted on Osbourne during New York Fashion Week, when she took the hairstyle to the highest extremes — literally. Then just a few days later, Richie sported a mini boho version during a Good Morning America appearance. And earlier this week while promoting her hit show Down Under, Kardashian rocked a similar style, but hers was a tad thicker and more polished.

No matter how you decide to interpret the look, it’s going to be seriously head-turning — ideally in a good way. So we asked Adrianne Johnston, hairstylist at Maxine salon in Chicago, for advice on how to create the statement style at home.

When Kelly Osbourne wore outrageous yellow Quay aviators at the Chris Benz show during New York Fashion Week (top right), we thought maybe she had undergone Lasik surgery and was looking for a fun way to cover her eyes. But then the Fashion Police hostess rocked a retro white pair (top right) the following day, leading us to believe she just has a thing for wacky shades.

Osbourne also sported some rather quirky sunnies across the pond at London Fashion Week, where she showed off a futuristic cat-eye shape at the House of Holland show on Saturday (bottom left). But the pair she wore on Monday — black geometric sunglasses with eyebrows sprouting from them (bottom right) — were definitely the wildest of the bunch.

Where Did Kelly Osbourne’s Eyebrows Go?

Fashion Police judge Kelly Osbourne critiques others’ styles weekly, so we’re turning the tables and giving our two cents about her questionable new beauty look: her bleached eyebrows.

The Brit put her barely there brows on display at a Lollapalooza CK One after-party in Chicago over the weekend, letting them contrast with her bold earrings, patterned dress and lavender ’do.

We applaud the fact that Osbourne never plays it safe on the red carpet, but her current statement? It’s much better suited for a high-fashion photo shoot — and as it turns out, that’s exactly why the star tried the style. On Thursday, she spilled the beans about a recent Fault magazine cover shoot, Tweeting, ”@FAULTMagazine p.s my eye brows are still bleached i look like an alien! #bloodyNuts I kinda love it!”

Well, here’s hoping she dyes those brows back quickly — can you imagine what Joan Rivers will say if she doesn’t? Tell us: What do you think of Osbourne’s bleached eyebrows?

Kelly Osbourne’s fashion motto? “You don’t have to be rich to look good.”

Sure, easy for a starlet to say, but the Fashion Police host believes that it’s best to save money on clothes — and splurge on the big stuff. “Go get the knockoffs,” she tells PEOPLE. “Save your money to get a nice bag and a nice pair of shoes. Nobody knows that you’re not wearing what it is meant to look like. That’s what I do. Most of the stuff I wear is really not that expensive unless it was given to me.”

Some of those nicer pieces include Miu Miu and Opening Ceremony threads, though the Brit has a soft sport for Vivienne Westwood corseted dresses, “because I’ve got a small waist and it really shows that part,” she shares. “It makes me feel skinnier than I really am, so I like it!”

And Osbourne, who modeled for Madonna and Lourdes Leon’s Material Girl clothing line last year (“It did make me feel amazing and it will forever and that experience is on my list of best things I’ve ever done,” she gushes), is feeling even more confident about fashion these days.

Why Kelly Osbourne Won’t Ever Dye Her Hair Brown

Her lavender hair has drawn mixed reviews, but Kelly Osbourne wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I don’t ever look at [hair colors] as mistakes,” she tells PEOPLE. “It’s fun. Who wants to look the same their entire life? Every day I wake up it’s a different color and that’s what I love so much about my hair.”

Those lavender locks certainly get lots of attention — “People stop me in the street everywhere I go,” she admits — and require mucho maintenance.

It’s like “a science project,” she says. “Because there’s so much hair, we have to do half the head at a time.” Her salon sessions can last up to eight hours, though last time she touched up, her stylist, Judd Minter, finished in just under four (phew!).

And while she’s enjoyed trying a variety of hair colors, the starlet says she’ll never go brunette. “I look like the spitting image of my father [rocker Ozzy Osbourne] — it’s too weird,” she reveals. “I would look like I had the biggest daddy complex on earth.”
