Flower crowns. Bun pins. Turbans. Headscarves. Jewel headbands. Hair accessories are everywhere this summer. But leave it to Kelly Osbourne to introduce us to a type of hair adornment we hadn’t even considered: The fashion risk-taker swapped her bobby pins for safety pins.

In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we saw tons of smudged-out flowers, delicate midriffs and a neckline we didn’t expect to see back again until fall.
We get pretty excited when MAC announces a new celebrity collaboration. So this week we (we being, from left, style news editor Alex Apatoff, writer/reporter Jackie Fields and associate style editor Brittany Talarico) decided to test out four new star lipstick collaborations by the brand. From Lorde’s dramatic “Pure Heroine” to Kelly Osbourne’s polarizing light purple shade and Rihanna‘s very-glam red, we decked our pouts (and polled the office!) to find out our faves. Check out the photos, below, along with our reviews and our ratings, from 1 (would never wear again) to 10 (we plan to wear this every day).

When we saw the latest photo of Kelly Osbourne on her Instagram, we were like, “Wow, love a good makeup-free selfie! Snaps!”
And then we were like, “Wait a minute.” And then we were like “Five alarm fire, stop the presses, a celebrity actually shaved their head.”
PEOPLE StyleWatch editors joke all the time about star head-shaving on a Friday afternoon, but we have to admire Kelly for actually delivering. Though we only have ourselves to blame for the late notice. After all, when we saw the Instagram below two days ago, we should have known something was up. The caption: “With @fraankie cutting off more hair! I wonder how long before I shave the hole thing off?”
Apparently, the answer was “Not long at all!” because she posted a close-up look at her buzzed locks a few minutes later, then showed up at the Race to Erase MS event that evening to debut it officially.
It’s hard for us to remember a time when Kelly Osbourne was not sporting her lavender locks (she’s had the color for four years now), and she feels the same way, saying she’s never felt more herself than with her brightly-hued do. She recently sat down with PEOPLE to discuss her most recent mane change and what it was like when she first debuted her purple hair.
“Basically my color has become me. The first time I dyed it and looked in the mirror, I saw myself and I felt like me,” she told PEOPLE while stopping by to promote Wheat Thins Popped. “I’ll never be a natural girl. I’ll never be normal or simple. The most insulting thing someone said to me was to call me ‘beige.'”

Kelly Osbourne was one of the first stars to start the lavender hair craze, so it’s no surprise she decided to go for another trendy tress move — shaving part of her head. The TV host revealed a new summer-friendly do on Instagram, buzzing a section of hair above her left ear.
“Here is one pic of my new hair cut!!! What do you guys think? I’m also sporting the #SpringTrend and have no bottom mascara on! It looks weird I [love] it!!! check out my website to see more pics later this week!” she captioned the above photo on her feed. Read More
