Kelly Clarkson Goes Blonde

It’s a whole new Kelly! Kelly Clarkson debuted brand new blonde hair Wednesday while out in London.

The Duets star’s new tresses — almost a light caramel color — are a bright departure from her signature brown locks.

Apparently, Clarkson wanted to give herself a total makeover: she recently revealed she has a brand new man and she admitted to Redbook that she lost 30 pounds. “Really, what I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy,” she said. “I have no desire to be super-skinny.”

But while the hair color change is surprising, don’t expect Clarkson to give her look a complete overhaul anytime soon. “I don’t want to wear no stiletto,” the singer joked to reporters last month. “I am not a model and I am not Beyoncé. It is not going to happen.” Tell us: What do you think of her new hair color?

Kelly Clarkson in Stilettos? 'It's Not Going to Happen'

“Fashion over function” is not a mantra Kelly Clarkson lives by.

“I think you should be comfortable,” the original American Idol told reporters while doing press for her new ABC singing competition, Duets, in Los Angeles last week.

“This is such a funny industry. Sometimes I turn on awards shows and pop stars are wearing alien costumes,” Clarkson said of the outlandish fashions in the music industry. “I’m like, ‘That’s cool for you but ain’t no way in hell someone is going to convince me to wear that on stage.'”

The “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)” singer believes the music industry puts too much pressure on artists to conform.

“Not only can the music be formulaic, but the attire can be formulaic,” she said. “Just like music, with style there is room for everything and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it is that person’s thing.”

Now Clarkson is imparting her fashion advice on her Duets contestant, Jordan Meredith.

A couple of weeks ago, we asked you Who ruled the red carpet: Ashley or Vanessa? And the strapless BCBG dress that Ashley Tisdale wore to the premiere of High School Musical 2 had many, many fans. Well, it looks like Kelly Clarkson agreed with you, because she wore the exact same handkerchief hemmed number last night to the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles. To finish the look, both ladies chose to wear simple bracelets and sparkling heels. It’s a tough decision, but we know you can make it: Tell us, who wore their BCBG dress better? Kelly or Ashley?

Kelly Clarkson has certainly tried out her fair share of hair colors, but she’s been brunette for quite a while now. But this weekend she hit Las Vegas with a new light blonde bob, and we’re totally into the look on the singer! Maybe it’s that it’s summer or that it looks so sharp with her little black dress, but we think Kelly is looking great with the lighter locks. But we want to know what you think! Tell us: Do you love Kelly as a blonde or is she better as a brunette?

What's Kelly's Best Look: Rocker Chic or Red Carpet Glam?

Kelly Clarkson‘s been having some well-documented changes in her professional life, but the singer is also shaking up her wardrobe. She was in full rocker girl mode for her performance at Live Earth this weekend — graphic tank, ironed hair and low rise jeans make the look. But when she hit the ESPY Awards in L.A. only four days later, she was the picture of feminine elegance in a strapless Zuhair Murad dress and glittering Swarovski clutch. She even added soft waves and smoky eyes too the look. We think Kelly looks great all glammed up, but we can see how her fans would love her rocked out too. Tell us: Which look do you think is best for Kelly: rocker chic or red carpet glam?

Kelly Clarkson Ditches her Bob: Love It or Hate It?

May/10/2007 at 06:00 AM ET

Just last month, Kelly Clarkson wowed us with her new grown-up sleek and glossy brunette bob at the ASCAP awards. Well, it seems like she’s already sick of the short hair. Yesterday, the former American Idol turned up at TRL to talk about her upcoming album, My December, sporting some longer — and darker — locks in a pulled back half-up look. We really liked Kelly’s short hair, but the added length does give her a rock-n-roll edge. Luckily no hair change is permanent. Tell us: Do you like Kelly with long hair or a classic bob?

Check out other stars who have recently changed their look and vote on your favorites in our “Best Look” gallery.
