Kelly Clarkson’s New Ring — No, Not That One. The Other One!

He put a ring on it — twice! Kelly Clarkson’s fiancé Brandon Blackstock proposed in December, but her canary yellow diamond engagement ring wasn’t the only dazzler he had in store.

For Christmas, Blackstock, 36, surprised Clarkson, 30, with a replica of a ring once owned by Jane Austen. A huge fan of the 19th-century English novelist, Clarkson bought the original ring at an auction in London but has been unable to bring it home.

“They claimed it as a national treasure and I can’t take it out of the United Kingdom,” she explains. “Behind my back, Brandon was trying to get that ring out of the country as my engagement ring. He was trying to work with my lawyer and they wouldn’t do it.”

Instead, Blackstock asked Beverly Hills jewelry designer Johnathon Arndt, who made Clarkson’s engagement ring, to create a replica of the Austen ring.

“It looks just like [the original] except he embellished the gold with diamonds,” says the singer, who wore the ring during her performance at the presidential Inauguration in January. “I’m such a hopeless romantic,” she says. “Obviously — I’m a Jane Austen fan!”

Lady Gaga vs. Kelly Clarkson: Who Wears Her Hair Bow Best?

Lady Gaga did it first … but who did it best?

Gaga invented the literal hair bow, sporting the style over and over (and over!) in 2009. After her obsession ended, we thought the unique style did, too — but it was resurrected this weekend by none other than Kelly Clarkson.

The Duets star, currently in London, debuted a hair bow of her own while out on Friday. The singer tied her just-dyed locks up at the back of her head, working the look while wandering the city and during an appearance on the show Loose Women.

Kelly Clarkson Goes Blonde

It’s a whole new Kelly! Kelly Clarkson debuted brand new blonde hair Wednesday while out in London.

The Duets star’s new tresses — almost a light caramel color — are a bright departure from her signature brown locks.

Apparently, Clarkson wanted to give herself a total makeover: she recently revealed she has a brand new man and she admitted to Redbook that she lost 30 pounds. “Really, what I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy,” she said. “I have no desire to be super-skinny.”

But while the hair color change is surprising, don’t expect Clarkson to give her look a complete overhaul anytime soon. “I don’t want to wear no stiletto,” the singer joked to reporters last month. “I am not a model and I am not Beyoncé. It is not going to happen.” Tell us: What do you think of her new hair color?

Kelly Clarkson in Stilettos? ‘It’s Not Going to Happen’

“Fashion over function” is not a mantra Kelly Clarkson lives by.

“I think you should be comfortable,” the original American Idol told reporters while doing press for her new ABC singing competition, Duets, in Los Angeles last week.

“This is such a funny industry. Sometimes I turn on awards shows and pop stars are wearing alien costumes,” Clarkson said of the outlandish fashions in the music industry. “I’m like, ‘That’s cool for you but ain’t no way in hell someone is going to convince me to wear that on stage.’”

The “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)” singer believes the music industry puts too much pressure on artists to conform.

“Not only can the music be formulaic, but the attire can be formulaic,” she said. “Just like music, with style there is room for everything and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it is that person’s thing.”

Now Clarkson is imparting her fashion advice on her Duets contestant, Jordan Meredith.
