We Need to Talk About White Pumps

When we first saw the resurgence of white pumps on the red carpet, they were worn only by very fashion-forward stars (think: Rihanna) — so we didn’t rush to Zappos right away.

But over the last year, we’ve seen the ’80s-tacular trend gaining momentum, on stars who perhaps aren’t quite as avant-garde.

And now that we’ve spotted at least five pairs of the pumps in the last week alone — worn by stars as diverse as Kate Hudson (left) and Eva Longoria (second from right) — we’re realizing this is a trend we can’t just ignore.

What we love about the five stars in this lineup is that they prove to us just how diverse the tricky trend can be. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s (second from left) Jean-Michel Cazabat pumps add unexpected spice to her Michael Kors strapless sheath; on Vanessa Hudgens they’re sweet and girlie when worn with denim; and they look sleek and mod with Nicole Richie‘s matching swing dress (right).

So now that it’s clear that this trend is really, really happening, are you on board? Or is it too much of a throwback for you?

Kate Hudson to Design for Ann Taylor; Would You Buy Her Clothes?

We love her sense of style — but will we love her clothes?

Ann Taylor spokesmodel Kate Hudson is renewing her contract with the company, and designing a capsule collection for the brand, WWD reports. According to the mag, the actress worked with Ann Taylor creative director, Lisa Axelson, to create “a lineup of looks inspired by her red-carpet style, reinterpreted for everyday occasions.” The collection — Hudson’s first foray into fashion — will hit stores in May. Her latest round of ads will debut in February.

“Working with Ann Taylor has been a great creative experience, and there is a really wonderful connection,” Hudson says. “I love that Lisa is designing clothes for real women.”

Hudson has had her fair share of hits and misses on the red carpet over the years, but lately, she’s departed from her once-”boho” sense of style, topping best dressed lists in her Golden Globes McQueen creation and taking fashion risks in fitted suits and pajama-inspired ensembles.

Since it’s hard to pinpoint her aesthetic, though, we’re interested (and excited) to see what she creates for Ann Taylor — and how work-appropriate it is. Tell us: Would you buy a piece of clothing designed by Kate Hudson?

Why Kate Hudson Wants You to Love Your Eyeliner

Dec/14/2012 at 09:00 AM ET

Kate Hudson often gets recognized in public, but recently, it’s been more for her makeup than for her movies.

“Since I’ve been working with Almay, people will come up to me on the street and go, ‘When I heard you talking about that eyeliner I went and got it and I love it so much!’” she tells PEOPLE. “And I love that.”

The actress, who joined the brand in 2010, swears by the company’s makeup removers, eye palettes and eye shadow sticks — and its formulas for sensitive skin. “When I’m working every day and having to put makeup on, my skin gets very sensitive,” she says.

However, she’s actually managed to incorporate Almay products into her work life, saving her pores. “Nowadays, because movies are in HD, we’re using lighter makeup because you want to be able to see the skin,” she explains. “So we’re actually starting to use more of the Smart Shade Makeup, which has good coverage but doesn’t have that heaviness. No one wants to see that heavy foundation on screen, but to see some skin and still get that nice, even tone can be a trick.”
