Which Star’s Style Does Katharine McPhee ‘Love, Love, Love’?

Time to start a fan club: Katharine McPhee can be added to the list of stars who covet a certain actress’s stellar sense of fashion.

“I love Kate Bosworth’s style,” the Smash star tells PEOPLE. “She always looks classy, but her style [changes]. It’s sometimes hippie, sometimes hipster-edgy and sometimes it’s like a classic Chanel tweed dress paired with a purse. I love, love, love her.”

Want to steal either star’s style? McPhee recommends one designer item worth the splurge: a great bag.

“I would say the most classic piece you can probably buy — even if you get it vintage — is a Chanel shoulder bag,” McPhee shares. “You can dress it up, dress it down — you can wear [it] with jeans, shorts, button-ups.”

Another reason why she loves the iconic purse? It prevents her from carrying around too much junk. “They usually can be a good size where you can fit everything you need, but you’re not going to take excess things,” she explains. Tell us: What was the last big-ticket item you splurged on?

We admit we’ve worn sweats to the grocery store before — seriously, who hasn’t? — but seeing stars get dressed to grab the basics always makes us want to set the bar a bit higher.

Take Jessica Alba (left), who manages to make her grocery run comfy-chic in a maxi, cardigan and hat. Or Halle Berry (second from left), whose white top, jean shorts and flip-flops say “casual cool.” Zoë Saldana (center), Kate Bosworth (second from right) and January Jones (right) also use the simple errand run as an opportunity to get glam, without looking like they tried too hard.

So which star’s grocery store style is best? Vote in our poll below — your responses could appear in an upcoming issue of PEOPLE!

Vanessa Hudgens definitely caught our eyes with her interesting Coachella ensembles this weekend, but it’s Kate Bosworth who’s had some of the festival’s most winning looks — so far.

The actress arrived at Indio, Calif., on Saturday (left) short-shorts, a black tee and a vintage-inspired shirt and booties, both by Isabel Marant (plus one extra-hot accessory, new beau Michael Polish!). That same day, she popped by the Mulberry Barbecue Pool Party in nearby Palm Springs (center) donning sneakers, a bag and a top by the brand, all paired with simple black Current/Elliott shorts.

Kate Bosworth Reveals Her Favorite Fashion Era

If Kate Bosworth had a time machine, she’d be living in the 1920s. “The fashion and the atmosphere looked so exciting,” she tells the U.K.’s Company magazine. “I’d love to play a role of someone from that era. I can’t wait for The Great Gatsby later this year.”

But since she is living in the present, Bosworth, who says her day-to-day style is on the casual side, admires the looks of her fashion icon, Sienna Miller, and Londoners in general.

“It’s not so crazy that it’s unrelatable, but there’s something that’s always inspiring,” the actress says of British style. “My best friend and business partner Cher [Coulter] came out of [London's] Central Saint Martins — there are so many talented people who come out of that school, it’s incredibly impressive.”

Bosworth herself grew up with a fashion-forward role model: her dad. “He’s a former executive at Ermenegildo Zegna,” she explains. “I remember him telling me when I was at school that classic style won’t ever go out of fashion. At the time I thought, ‘You don’t know anything!’”
