With so many choices to pick from, it’s not exactly a coincidence when style stars like Michelle Williams and Kate Bosworth select feminine frocks from the same London-based label.

Best known for micro floral prints and unabashedly feminine silhouettes, Erdem has become an offbeat industry darling. After Claudia Schiffer wore a runway look from his debut ready-to-wear collection in 2006, the designer went on to gain critical and capital success when Barneys New York became the brand’s primary stockist. (The Duchess of Cambridge helped put him on the map, as well.)

In the past several months, A-listers have flocked to the lines ethereal frocks and punchy separates, alike. For the New York screening of My Week with Marilyn, Michelle Williams selected an embroidered slip, while ingénue Elizabeth Olsen made a statement in a $4,085 trademark print crepe de chine gown. Kate Bosworth looked capricious in a canary, off-shoulder frock from the line’s spring 2012 collection, while Jessica Alba paired extra pops of color with the brand’s printed stovepipes.

“I never think about what’s sexy,” the designer has said of his creations. “I focus on the silhouettes and the proportions and hope that takes care of everything.”

In less than two weeks, five of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading ladies selected similar looks from Valentino’s spring/summer 2012 collection.

For the Jan. 9 Rome premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara wore a scarlet, tiered gown with piqued sleeves and sheer paneling. In the days that followed, both Jessica Alba and Kristen Bell attended awards season soirees in leather-accented styles, while Kirsten Dunst and Kate Bosworth opted for slightly more black-tie versions of the same silhouette.

Valentino is “synonymous with red carpet and glamour,” Alba’s stylist Brad Goreski tells PEOPLE of the seasonal collection’s appeal. For his client, “the combination of leather and lace was absolutely perfect” for the InStyle and Forevermark Golden Globes pre-party because of its “mixture of ladylike and edgy” qualities.

The Bravo star credits the line’s “sort of whimsical quality” as an enduring red-carpet trend, but says that unexpected details manage to keep the dresses young. “That is why for stylists, it’s a sure thing,” he declares, adding, “you know if one of your girls is wearing Valentino, it’s going to be a good moment.”

They’ve lent their keen eye to designing jewelry, but Kate Bosworth and stylist pal Cher Coulter are teaming up for a new endeavor.

The New York Times reports that the duo is working on a “denim collaboration,” which makes perfect sense for the actress, who was named PEOPLE’s 2011 “Jean Queen.”

“Kate loves denim because it’s easy and casual,” Coulter told PEOPLE in October. “She always wears denim to remain comfy while running around town. On the flip side, she also loves to dress up denim by pairing it with a silky button-up and a necklace slung just under the shirt collar.”

So it’s not rocket science, but it is an important element of style: what kinds of earrings should you wear with what hairstyles? Luckily, the ladies over at Lauren Conrad‘s site, thebeautydepartment.com, recently tackled that topic with JewelMint cofounder Kate Bosworth — a client of Conrad’s makeup artist and fellow blogger, Amy Nadine.

For starters, Conrad’s hair stylist Kristin Ess suggests “simple” hair with small jewels. “Studs and small stone earrings can get overwhelmed by too much hair,” she writes, adding, “wear a lipstick that will make the color of the stone pop.”

Bosworth also demonstrates ever-popular chandelier earrings two ways: with hair up (“chignons are best,” Ess writes) and hair down, either to the side or behind the ears so the sparklers take center stage.

STUDY UP ON STAR-TESTED BEAUTY TIPS

Sure she’s known for her spot-on fashion choices, but how does Kate Bosworth always manage to look so polished? Just ask her stylist and longtime friend, Cher Coulter.

“She’s got this effortless approach to style, and never overdoes it,” Coulter tells PEOPLE of the actress. “She’s also fun and fashionable and willing to take risks. She’s simple, chic and always looks happy in what she’s wearing.”

Naturally, Bosworth stays up on the latest trends, but surprisingly comfort plays a part in her daily outfit selection, too. “We like to get creative with current trends, but Kate has to feel good and comfortable,” says Coulter, who partnered with the actress to launch JewelMint, a subscription-based site that curates earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets for shoppers based on their personal preferences. And that’s one reason the jeans queen can always be seen rocking denim.

“Kate loves denim because it’s easy and casual,” Coulter explains. “She always wears denim to remain comfy while running around town. WOULD YOU WEAR THESE TRENDS?

Though she has her pick of high-fashion items, Kate Bosworth has some guidelines when it comes to selecting her always-stylish looks: namely, siding with talented designers who are also pleasant people.

“I’ve always seen fashion as embracing the individual, although yes, I understand that there are parts of the industry that aren’t so welcoming,” she tells BlackBook magazine. “But I look at the Proenza Schouler boys … they’re so kind and they make such brilliant designs. The Rodarte sisters, too. It may be idealistic, but I like to think that goodness rises to the top.”

Bosworth’s stylist Cher Coulter must be pretty nice, then; one year ago, the longtime friends launched JewelMint, a subscription-based e-commerce site that curates earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets for shoppers based on their personal preferences, revealed in a style quiz. JewelMint is run by BeachMint, which also runs the Olsens’ StyleMint — a site that follows the same model with T-shirts — and on Oct. 1, will launch Jessica Simpson and aesthetician Nerida Joy’s BeautyMint, offering subscribers anti-aging skincare products.

Though Bosworth admits to WWD that she and Coulter were “guinea pigs” for the BeachMint experience — they were the first to sign on — she’s confident in what they’ve created together. “I feel like we’re just starting to get a really good hold on this experience,” she tells WWD, adding to BlackBook, “I had no interest in signing a contract that would force me to curate pieces I found horrendous.”

That claim comes not just from a celebrity designer, but from a woman who spent her younger days shadowing her father, who worked at Zegna and Talbots, learning the ways of the fashion world. “My first ‘Bring Your Daughter to Work Day’ was spent understanding the difference in quality and texture between various fabrics,” she tells BlackBook. “I’ve had an appreciation for good workmanship from a young age.”

Kate Bosworth is taking the breakup blues to a new level by rocking turquoise-tinged strands.

Following the lead of fellow singleton Lauren Conrad, the star debuted the new hue Wednesday night, weeks after her split from Alexander Skarsgard. But unlike Conrad, Bosworth’s look is more overt, calling to mind the graduated dip-dye from Proenza Scouler’s spring 2010 runway show. Always the trendsetter, could she be taking the high-fashion look mainstream?

As it turns out, the actress dyed her hair for a photo shoot earlier in the day. BeautyHigh.com reports that Bosworth let stylist Luke Chamberlain color her locks, instead of adding extensions, as he’d intended.

WEIGH IN ON MORE STAR STYLE IN ‘LAST NIGHT’S LOOK: HIT OR MISS?’

It was a wintery—albeit stylish—day at the Burberry Prorsum show during London Fashion Week, with stars including Rachel Bilson and Kate Bosworth popping in for the inclement-weather-themed runway show. “Everybody is asking me if it hurts to sit down with the studs, but it doesn’t at all, it’s just very heavy,” Kate Bosworth told WWD, referring to the Burberry pencil skirt virtually covered with spikes and studs she wore to the show. After a flurry of fashion models stormed down the runway in fur-trimmed coats and belted trenches, the show ended with a blizzard of fake snow covering the catwalk, while models paraded around wearing matching see-through plastic capes over their outfits. And for those who didn’t score a front-row seat like Bosworth and Bilson, many Brits still took in all the action; the show was screened live to the public in Piccadilly Circus in London (and on the web for those of us not in the U.K.). –Kim Peiffer

Kate Bosworth has spent her fair time in front of the camera — even modeling for Calvin Klein Jeans ads — but that doesn’t mean she’s over the thrill of seeing a runway show. “I always love coming backstage and seeing all the models,” she told PEOPLE behind the scenes of the Calvin Klein Women’s Collection show during New York Fashion Week on Thursday. “Their makeup is always my favorite. It’s just beautiful skin. I’m always tearing pages out of magazines and saying to makeup artists. . . I want to look like this!” Other famous faces at Calvin Klein Collection included Zoe Saldana and Kerry Washington, who said of her deep purple dress, ““It’s a very royal color. I’m trying to get my princess thing on.” Women’s Creative Director Francisco Costa had royalty-worthy praise in return for his bevvy of famous beauties, saying he loves “their intelligence, their attitude, they’re quick, smart girls, they look great,” he said. “They’re all really inspiring to me.” Costa also explained the actual inspiration behind the highly-praised collection. “The collection is very textural,” said Costa. “It’s sporty, it’s fast, interesting shapes, we have dresses that flow up against the body, very close, well-fitted. I’ve always loved Chloe,” Belle told PEOPLE of her pick, “so whenever they have a collection I’ll go.
