Kim Kardashian Attends the Met Gala In a Gown With Attached, Matching Gloves

We had a lot of thoughts about what Kim Kardashian might wear to her first-ever Met Gala, but boy, were we off the mark.

Not that any of us could have predicted that she’d wear a custom Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci number, created out of floral printed jersey with grommet details that attached the sleeves, turtleneck and perfectly matched gloves and shoes (shown off by the high slit in her gown).

Her other half, Kanye West, went completely (and unusually) simple, in a chic suit by Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci — all the better to let his pregnant girlfriend shine.

The only thing left to find out is what her new BFF Anna Wintour had to say about it all.

Kim Kardashian‘s love Kanye West may be a fashion darling, but that doesn’t mean he could score her an invite to the Met Gala last year.

That was then. Now that West is rumored to be the headlining performer at this year’s May 6 soirée, there’s another rumor floating around that Kardashian will be walking the red carpet by his side. Six months pregnant. Dressed to represent the evening’s theme, Punk: Chaos to Couture.

So we couldn’t help but offer up a few punk-inspired suggestions for Kardashian’s first-ever Met Gala red carpet walk (oh, please, let it be true!), all from designers who will be represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibition.

Kim Kardashian isn’t due until July, but we already know one thing for sure about the baby: Little Kimye’s wardrobe is going to be way more advanced than our own.

Kim and her sister Kourtney stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night, and the talk show host asked if the littlest Kardashian will wear hand-me-downs. But let’s get serious: Are parents who regularly don kilts, capes and fur going to allow their child to be photographed wearing something that’s already been spotted on a different star baby?

An Open Letter to Kanye West

Dear Kanye,

We get it. You love fashion. You take the industry very seriously — so much so that you designed your own line. And you even have the confidence to step out in a kilt. Basically, you wear things that most men wouldn’t dare to, and that’s awesome.

That said, we have a slight (okay, major) issue with your recent Paris Couture Week look. Particularly, your accessory selection: What’s the deal with the red knit facemask you wore to the Maison Martin Margiela show on Wednesday?

Sure, it’s cold in Paris, but it’s cold in N.Y.C., too, and you don’t see us walking around channeling a superhero.

So we’re assuming you thought you were making some sort of bold style statement. And while something like this might come off cool on the runway, unfortunately, that doesn’t mean it translates into the real world. (Though the rest of your outfit — white on white layers topped off with a black trench — was spot-on.)

Given this isn’t the first time you’ve worn such a contraption, we bet you have a lot more in your wardrobe. But please, if you must succumb to your inner-model desires and cover your face with a mask — save it for the stage.
