Does the couple that style together, stay together? That may be the case for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, who each debuted new hairstyles on Wednesday.

Bieber popped by the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where he was on hand to help unveil the TOSY mROBO Robot. There, he brought back his famous swoop hairstyle — a big change from the more sophisticated look he’d been working these past few months. (Justin Timberlake was at CES earlier this week, and showed off a new look of his own: major facial scruff.)

Short must be the new long! In a summary of 2011′s stellar style, the Wall Street Journal named Emma Watson‘s pixie and Justin Bieber‘s ‘swish’ the most influential haircuts of the year.

“Hairstylists are being inundated with requests,” the paper reports. “The enthusiasm plays out online, where the fastest-rising searches for celebrity haircuts on Google are for Ms. Watson and Mr. Bieber.”

According to the Journal, these looks mark a pretty significant change for hairstyle popularity, since for women, “short hair hasn’t been trendy since the ’90s,” and because men “may justifiably feel sheepish about asking for the cut.” (Tell that to the Biebs!)

Haircut … or hair-raising? Justin Bieber appeared to work a faux hawk this weekend, surfacing for a commercial shoot in Los Angeles with a cut that’s tall in the middle and super-short on the sides.

The pop star has taken his hair on quite the ride this year: once known for his signature swoop, Bieber chopped his locks in February, later selling the trimmings for more than $40,000 on eBay (proceeds went to charity).

However, last week he was photographed with girlfriend Selena Gomez during a Winnipeg Jets hockey game, still rocking that same look. Maybe the 17-year-old is going for a more grown-up do? Tell us: What do you think of Bieber’s haircut?

Justin Bieber Serves Up a ‘Scentual’ Halloween Scare

He may be on the small side, but Justin Bieber sure knows how to scare a girl! The pop star sneaks up on his Someday fragrance commercial costar Dree Hemingway in a cute new promo video for the scent. Thankfully, she doesn’t seem to get too frightened!

Bieber, whose “really big” fragrance is in stores now, will perform on Today on Wednesday, Nov. 23. To help promote the concert, Today is running a Halloween contest, asking fans to stop by Rockefeller Plaza on Monday, Oct. 31, dressed in a killer costume. Five mega-fans will each win a pair of VIP passes to see Bieber in concert in November. Nothing scary about that!
