Justin Bieber: A Man of Many Masks and Hats

If you thought Justin Bieber‘s gas mask was a bridge too far, then you’ll especially enjoy his latest look: a ski mask embroidered with Chanel’s double-C logo, topped with a fedora.

Why, you ask? If you’re posing the question, you’re apparently not equipped to understand Bieber’s latest edgy new attitude, which has involved shirtless hospitalization and monkey abandonment.

In fact, Bieber has used a series of headgear to signify that he’s not the old mop-topped moppet we all knew and loved — he’s now the kind of guy who wears a $94 studded yellow trucker hat or a Tupac-inspired bandana.

Which is why we think he may be disappointed to hear that his latest facewear isn’t quite as threatening as he had hoped. We’re scared, all right, but more of the questionable judgment required to make these wardrobe choices than we are of his new tough-guy persona.

If you, like us, were concerned that Justin Bieber’s drop-crotch pants addiction might be permanent, you can exhale: The star is doing a James Dean thing in the pages of Teen Vogue‘s May issue.

Rocking flannel, leather, an assortment of ribbed tank tops and his gem-encrusted cross, Bieber strikes a number of pensive poses throughout, even revealing the one thing he always wears: Le Labo Santal 33 cologne. Fancy!

In the interview, Bieber addresses all the unusual stories about him lately, but says he embraces his critics: “Every time a hater visits my YouTube page, I get, like, four cents. So tell the haters to keep hating, keep commenting, because I’m making money.”

Here’s hoping he uses that money to buy the great clothes from the shoot!

He makes girls (and let’s admit it, grown women) everywhere scream, but Justin Bieber isn’t always so super-smooth.

In this cute, just-released gag reel from his recent Macy’s commercial shoot, the pop star makes more than a few mistakes — and gets pretty darn goofy — as he tries to promote his perfume, Girlfriend. He even gives stage direction, telling one actor, “Don’t smile like that, bro,” before yelling at Santa Claus. Watch the singer share some laughs in the clip above.

Justin Bieber Takes Reporter to Task Over Overalls Commotion

After the drop-crotch pants controversy of 2012, we were hoping Justin Bieber would listen to our advice and invest in some sexy slim-cut jeans or a nice pair of trousers.

But wow, we were wrong.

This past weekend, the pop star received a Diamond Jubilee Medal from Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, and wore half-buckled overalls for the occasion. But after being raked over the coals by the Daily Mail (“Would a suit hurt, Justin?” they wrote) and Gawker — which called him a “white trash prince” — the Biebs fought back:

“The pic of me and the Prime Minister was taken in a room in the arena where I was performing that day,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday, specifically targeting Daily Mail writer Hayley Peterson. “I walked straight from my meet and greet to him, if you “Hayley” expect me to have a change of clothes let a loan [sic] a suit at that specific time that’s crazy, It wasn’t like it was like I was going into his environment we were at a hockey arena. Wow am I ever white trash hayley peterson lol.”

We understand Bieber’s point — it’s not like he was at the Prime Minister’s residence, and the boy is crazy busy — but on the other hand … overalls. Really Justin? Tell us: Do you think Bieber’s overalls were trendy or tacky? Vote in our poll below!

An Open Letter to Justin Bieber

Dear Justin,

We feel your pain. Last time we went through a breakup we didn’t change out of our sweatpants for a week.

But hey — you’re trying to get your girl back. And since you’re one of the most famous people in the world right now, unfortunately, it’s happening pretty publicly. So we’ve just gotta say: We saw your pants … and no girl is going to want to make up if her guy is wearing those.

As we’ve noted before, drop-crotch pants are not a good look. On anyone. And it was bad enough that you wore them out to dinner with Selena Gomez on Friday night … but then you wore them again. On the red carpet. At the AMAs (left).

We’re true Beliebers, but Justin, we’ve gotta be straight: You have to put those pants away. If you’re trying to prove that you’re mature, why not try some skinny jeans, or even a nice, grown-up pair of trousers? They’re more adult, more figure flattering — and we think Selena would most definitely appreciate them. Your adorable mom probably would, too.

So hang the drop-crotch pants in the closet (or, you know, put them in the trash) and put on that failproof outfit every girl loves: a collared shirt and some sexy, well-fitting pants. We promise it’ll help your cause. And since you’re in a sad spot right now, we won’t bother you about the necklace and tank …
