A far cry from her elegant red carpet persona, Catherine Zeta-Jones is turning heads with her on-screen look in the casino caper, Lay the Favorite.

In the flick, Zeta-Jones plays Tulip, a gambler’s wife with a penchant for too-tight gym clothes. With her face-framing cleavage and conspicuous accessories, her styling is more than a little reminiscent of Julia Roberts‘s Oscar-winning turn as a scantily clad legal clerk in 2000′s Erin Brockovich. The provocative look also marks an upswing for the actress, who recently supported hubby Michael Douglas through a battle with cancer — and tackled personal issues of her own.

He earned rave reviews as twins Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss in the hit film The Social Network, but in Armie Hammer’s latest role, things have been a bit hairier.

Hammer, who plays plays Prince Andrew Alcott in an upcoming Snow White film, says when producers wanted him to shave his chest for a scene with love interest Julia Roberts, he had to put his foot down. “Julia had a line about how smooth my chest is,” he tells Details magazine, “and it’s not. So the producers were like, ‘Okay, just shave him.’”

But the actor, who says his wife is the one responsible for keeping him grounded, wasn’t exactly into that idea — even if it was for an A-lister like Roberts. “I was like, ‘WHOA. I spent 25 years earning this chest hair. I’m wearing purple tights and a codpiece, so, please, let me keep my manhood.’”

I don’t think I taught her. I think it’s a pretty easy process with her,” a modest Normant told PEOPLE. Creating a similar look, however, is surprisingly simple. “It’s best to wrap one piece one way [around a curling iron] and the next [in the opposite direction]. From Europe to Bali, filming Eat Pray Love was one hot job–literally! With temperatures soaring to over 100 degrees in some locations, it was no easy task keeping star Julia Roberts in costume and comfortable. “I made sure the clothes were as light as they possibly could be and still told the story,” Eat Pray Love costume designer Michael Dennison tells PEOPLE. And the scorching heat wasn’t the only issue for the skilled costumer when it came to dressing Julia. While shooting in Rome, Dennison also had to account for his leading lady’s real and perceived weight gain due to all those eating scenes. “She probably put on about seven pounds,” he admits. “I scaled down clothes and stuff like that to make them look tighter, and loosened up clothes to make it look like she was gaining more weight than she actually did.” And by the time they got to India, the progression to baggy clothing seemed natural for Julia’s character. “It was intrinsic to the Ashram that her clothes be as loose and flowy and airy as possible,” says Dennison. “It’s like a dress-code, they’re prayer clothes and also work clothes, and to be practical you [don't] want anything close to your body. Filming all over the world, and Italy, for the “eat” portion of the film Eat Pray Love may sound like heaven to most, but the task of eating plate after plate of pasta wasn’t the easiest thing to get used to for Julia Roberts.”They did go to great elaborate pains to make great food that I had to eat. Endlessly eat—in the heat,” recalled the actress at a press conference for the film Thursday at the Bardessono hotel in California’s Napa Valley. “But it was delicious. Ryan [Murphy, the film's director] keeps telling people I gained 10 pounds,” quipped Roberts. “It was a little less than that. And I loved every pound.” Between the pasta, pizza and other Italian delicacies, the endless stream of food did get a bit tiresome after a full day of filming. So, did she swear off Italian for good since completing the film? Not a chance. “[I've eaten] tons, tons. Making her debut as Lancôme’s global ambassador at a dinner in Paris, Julia Roberts got frank about what it’s like to be the beauty brand’s newest spokesperson. “It’s kind of like every girl’s dream, really,” she tells WWD. “To be 42 and have three kids and be a working mom, it’s a great moment to be asked to do this and to be able to do it. I think it says a lot about Lancôme and what they stand for.” As for how she’s approaching her new role, the actress jokes, “I think I have to stand up straighter and wash my face more.” But Yousef Nabi, Lancôme International’s president, tells WWD that the actress took the assignment very seriously, explaining, “Julia really wants to be involved in the development of the products.” For her part, Roberts said, “I get all these things to play with and test and give my opinion about. And it’s quite exciting without having to invest all of myself in how I look because they did come to me as me, which is a pretty casual mom. But you know, it’s nice to up your game a little bit.” While Roberts is taking a down-to-earth attitude toward being the beauty industry’s newest supermodel, she’s already starring in her first campaign, for Définicils Precious Cells Mascara. Julia Roberts may have dropped the F-Bomb on Tom Hanks at this week’s Film Society of Lincoln Center Gala Tribute honoring the actor, but that wasn’t the only way she kept things colorful.
